The plane landed smoothly, leaving Lis in his thoughts. Years in the army had trained me to assess the whole, the unsaid. Her fear was not getting involved with me, but rather the weight of her past falling on me. I needed to find out more about the person who tormented her so much, who had caused her physical and emotional wounds, and eliminate this threat once and for all!
