The air in the 60th floor office became freezing.

Alison Carter was standing between two billionaires. She didn't know what to do. Her small hand was being held tightly by Noah Walker behind him, as if he was protecting her.

And in front of her was the most dangerous man she had ever seen.

Agustin Montefalco.

He was not like Noah. If Noah was cold ice, Agustin was dark fire. He was older, maybe 32. His hair had a little gray. His suit was all black. His eyes were black too. And there was a thin scar on his left cheek that made him look even more dangerous. His gold necklace and gold ring screamed Mafia.

"You are still playing janitor, cousin?" Agustin laughed, but his eyes never left Alison. "You still wear that stupid uniform to test women?"

Noah's jaw tightened. "This is my company too, Agustin. And she is my secretary. Not yours."

"Your secretary?" Agustin walked closer. He was taller than Noah. "I heard HR rejected her. So you hired her because she was nice to a janitor? That's stupid, Noah. You are getting soft."

Alison tried to speak. "Sir, I..."

Agustin finally looked directly at her. His black eyes scanned her from head to toe. Not in a bad way, but in a possessive way, like she was already his property.

"Alison Carter, 23, Cum Laude, mother in the hospital. From Tondo," Agustin read from her resume without looking at it, as if he already memorized it. "You need money. I have money. More than Noah."

Alison stepped back, scared. "Sir..."

"Don't be scared," Agustin's voice became soft, but still dangerous. "I don't bite... unless you want me to."

Noah pulled Alison even closer. "Stop it, Agustin! You're scaring her!"

Agustin smiled. "I'm not scaring her. I'm offering her a better job. Alison, be my secretary instead. I'll give you 150,000 a month. Double of what this janitor CEO is giving you. And I'll pay for your mother's VIP room."

Alison's eyes widened. 150,000? VIP room? That was like a dream.

Noah saw her reaction. His blue eyes became hurt, then angry.

"Alison, don't listen to him," Noah said quickly. "He is dangerous. Everyone in Manila knows who he is. He is Mafia. He has... women... many women. He will use you and throw you."

Agustin laughed loudly. "And you, Noah? You are a saint? You had three girlfriends last year. All models. All cried when you dumped them."

"I never forced them!" Noah shouted.

The two CEOs were now arguing like two boys fighting over a toy. And Alison was the toy.

"Enough!" Alison shouted, surprising both men. Her voice was shaking but loud. "Stop! I don't even know you both! I just came here for a job! I just need a job!"

Silence.

Both CEOs stared at her. Shocked that a small girl like her shouted at them.

Agustin was the first to smile. "Feisty. I like feisty."

Noah sighed and let go of her hand. "I'm sorry, Alison. My cousin is just... he just came back from Italy. He thinks everything can be bought."

"I know everything can be bought," Agustin said, sitting on Noah's expensive chair like he owned it. "Including this company. Remember, Noah? I own 49% of this tower."

Noah clenched his fists. "And I own 51%."

Alison looked at the door. She wanted to run. This was too much. Too dangerous.

"Can I... can I just go home?" Alison whispered. "I don't want this job anymore."

"No," both Noah and Agustin said at the same time.

Alison froze.

Noah walked to her, his face soft again. "Alison, please. I need you. You are different from all the girls who applied. They only saw my money. You saw me as a janitor and you were still kind. I need someone like you beside me. Please stay."

Agustin stood up and walked to her other side. Now Alison was literally between them. Noah on her left, Agustin on her right. Both smelled so expensive.

"And I need you too, Alison," Agustin whispered near her ear. His voice was deep. "I have been in Italy for 5 years surrounded by fake women. You are the first real woman I've seen. Stay. Choose me, and I will give you the world."

Alison's heart was beating so fast. She felt dizzy. Two billionaire CEOs fighting for her? This was like a teleserye. But this was real.

"I... I need to think," Alison said.

"No need to think," Noah took her hand again. "Your first day is tomorrow. 8 AM. My office. As MY secretary."

"Wrong," Agustin took her other hand. His hand was bigger and warmer. "Your first day is tomorrow. 8 AM. In MY office. As MY secretary. On the 59th floor. Just below his."

Alison looked at her hands. Two powerful men holding her.

"But you can only have one secretary job," she said innocently.

Both men looked at each other. A silent war in their eyes.

"Then let her decide," Noah said.

"Okay," Agustin smirked. "Alison Carter, who do you want to be your boss? The hidden billionaire who pretended to be a janitor? Or the Mafia billionaire who will honestly tell you he wants you?"

Alison pulled her hands away from both of them.

She looked at Noah. Kind eyes, but he lied to her.

She looked at Agustin. Dangerous eyes, but he was honest about wanting her.

"I... I choose..."

Before she could finish, Noah's phone rang. His private line. He answered.

"What? Mama's hospital? What happened?"

Alison's face turned white. "Mama? What happened to my Mama?"

Noah looked at Alison, his face serious. "The hospital called my office. Your mother collapsed. She needs an operation tonight. 500,000 pesos."

500,000.

Alison's knees weakened. She almost fell. 500,000 was impossible. She had 200 pesos in her wallet.

Noah caught her before she fell. "I will pay for it. Right now. Just say you will be my secretary."

But Agustin was faster. He was already calling someone on his phone. "Prepare 1 million pesos. Walker & Montefalco Hospital. Patient: Carter. VIP. Now. And call Dr. Santos, the best surgeon in Manila. Tell him Agustin Montefalco is calling."

He hung up and looked at Alison.

"1 million, Alison. Operation, VIP room, best doctor. And you don't even have to be my secretary. Just have dinner with me tomorrow. One dinner."

Alison was crying now. Tears falling. She was trapped. Her mother's life was on the line.

Noah looked at Agustin with pure anger. "You are using her mother's illness to get her? That's low, Agustin! That's so low!"

"I'm saving her mother," Agustin said coldly. "You are just offering a salary. I'm offering a life."

Alison looked at both of them, tears streaming down her face.

"Noah... Agustin... please... save my Mama... please..."

Noah wiped her tears with his thumb. "I will save her, Alison. I promise."

Agustin wiped her other tear. "I already saved her. My people are on the way to the hospital now."

Alison broke down and cried on the floor. Two billionaires knelt beside her.

And in that moment, the love triangle war officially began.

Day 19 — 9:05 AMAlison Carter arrived at the café fifteen minutes before the agreed meeting time. She chose a table near the window, where she could see the entrance and the street beyond it. Agustin had offered to accompany her, but she had declined. Teresa Vale had agreed to speak with her, and Alison wanted to give the woman a chance to explain herself without feeling surrounded by investigators.Still, Alison had shared the meeting location and time with Agustin. She had also forwarded every message from the anonymous sender to their investigator. She wasn't going to confuse independence with recklessness. Her coffee sat untouched beside her phone. At exactly nine fifteen, a woman in her late fifties entered the café. She wore a cream blouse beneath a dark cardigan and carried a brown leather handbag that appeared older than the phone in her hand. She scanned the room, then approached Alison's table."Miss Carter?""Alison, please."The woman hesitated before sitting down."I'm T

Day 18 — 8:15 AMAlison Carter arrived at Walker & Montefalco Tower earlier than usual. For the first time in days, she had managed to sleep for more than four hours. It wasn't peaceful sleep, exactly. Her dreams had been filled with old photographs, unfinished letters, and a dark sedan that disappeared whenever she tried to see its license plate. But she had rested. And today, she intended to find answers. Her phone vibrated just as she stepped out of the elevator on the thirty-fifth floor.A message from Agustin.AGUSTIN: The archive office responded. They found a temporary transfer slip connected to Document 06-1847. We need to see the original.Alison stopped walking.A transfer slip.It was the first concrete movement in their search since discovering that the correspondence file had gone missing.ALISON: Does it say who received the file? The reply came less than a minute later.AGUSTIN: Not in the copy they sent. There's a handwritten signature on the original. We're meeting th

Day 17 — 6:50 AMAlison's Apartment, MakatiAlison woke with a single thought. The authorization file. For days, she had chased fragments of her father's past: a photograph, two letters, an incomplete police report, and anonymous messages that seemed to arrive whenever she uncovered something important. Now she finally had a specific lead. The original vehicle assignment register contained the name M. Carter beside a private pickup request dated three days before Carlos Carter's fatal accident. The authorization field was blank. The anonymous sender insisted that the missing file mattered. But Alison had made herself a promise the night before. She would investigate every claim without allowing anyone to dictate what she should believe. Her phone rang at 7:02 AM.“Alison,” Agustin said, “the records office has responded to our request.”She sat up immediately.“Did they find the file?”“They located an inventory entry for a box containing authorization forms from 2006. • THE CEO'S HIDDEN IDENTITY   CHAPTER 31: THE NAME BESIDE THE ASSIGNMENT

Day 16 — 6:35 AMAlison's Apartment, MakatiAlison had learned that secrets rarely revealed themselves all at once.Sometimes, they arrived as anonymous messages. Sometimes, they appeared in faded photographs or incomplete company records. And sometimes, they hid inside a single line on a document that everyone had forgotten existed.Look for the name beside the final vehicle assignment. That was the anonymous sender's latest instruction.Alison sat at her dining table, her laptop open and a notebook beside it. She had written the sentence three times, hoping that repetition might help her understand what the sender wanted. It didn't.Her phone rang.“Good morning,” Agustin Reyes said.“Please tell me you found something.”“I found a possible lead. The archive department located an index of vehicle assignments from 2006. Unfortunately, the index doesn't contain the complete records.”“But it has names?”“It has several. I'll meet you at the records office. Please let him speak without showing him the anonymous messages.Alison replied with a simple acknowledgment. Then she opened the photograph of her father.Carlos Carter had been gone for twenty years.
