CHAPTER 2: FIRST DAY

Lauren woke up to a sunny morning with a smile on her face. Today was the day she had been waiting for, the start of her new career as a maid in the mansion of billionaire CEO Damien Burlington. She had spent the past week packing up all her belongings in her tiny apartment, and now it was time to say goodbye to her sister Fraulein and promise her nephew that she would come back soon with lots of money.

As she waved goodbye to her family, Lauren couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement in her chest. She never expected to work for a wealthy family, and now that she got the opportunity it felt like a dream come true. She climbed into the luxurious car that was waiting for her outside and settled into the plush seats, eager to see what the day would bring.

When she arrived at the mansion, Lauren was struck by its grandeur. The building was massive, with towering columns and an immaculate lawn. She felt a tinge of nervousness as she stepped out of the car and made her way to the front door.

What if she made a mistake on her first day? What if she wasn't good enough for this job?

But those fears were quickly put to rest as she was greeted by the head of staff, a confident and assured woman who introduced herself as Ms. Rosales.

She showed Lauren around the mansion, pointing out the various rooms and explaining the duties she would be responsible for. As they walked, Lauren couldn't help but feel intimidated by the opulence of the place. It was like nothing she had ever seen before.

Finally, they reached the room where the children were waiting. Damien Burlington had three children- Carson, Amethyst, and Casper- and Lauren was to be responsible for their care and well-being. Ms. Rosales gave her a rundown of each child's personality and the rules she must follow when interacting with them.

Lauren took a deep breath before entering the room. Carson, the middle child, immediately caught her attention. He was hunched over his computer, intensely focused on whatever game he was playing.

Amethyst sat on the couch, painting her nails and shooting daggers at Lauren with her eyes.

And then there was Casper, playing with his toys on the floor.

Lauren introduced herself to the children, but she was met with silence and cold stares. Feeling a little dejected, she turned to Ms. Rosales for guidance.

"Remember, Lauren," Ms. Rosales said sternly, "These children are used to getting whatever they want, whenever they want it. You are here to make sure they don't walk all over you."

Lauren nodded, determined to show the children that she was a force to be reckoned with. She spent the rest of the day familiarizing herself with the mansion and figuring out her daily schedule. Everywhere she went, she felt the weight of the senior maid's disapproving gaze on her, making her work extra hard to impress.

As the day drew to a close, Lauren realized that this job was going to be much harder than she had anticipated. But she was determined to make it work, for the sake of her family and her pride. She took a deep breath, squared her shoulders, and decided to face whatever challenges lay ahead with a smile.

Lauren's first day as a maid in the Burlington mansion was not going as planned. She had hoped to make a good impression on the family, but the spoiled children were making it difficult for her.

As she made her way through the house, cleaning and tidying up after the family, she couldn't help but overhear the conversation between the kids.

"Have you seen the new maid?" Amethyst, the oldest, asked her siblings.

"What about her?" Carson, the middle child, replied without looking up from his video game.

"I don't think she knows how to make pancakes," Amethyst said with a snobbish tone.

Lauren couldn't help but feel a twinge of frustration at the comment. She had spent all morning preparing for breakfast and had even gone out of her way to make the kids their favorite breakfast food.

She decided to take matters into her own hands and headed to the kitchen to make a batch of pancakes for the kids.

When she brought the pancakes to the table, Amethyst turned up her nose and Carson didn't even acknowledge her. It was only the little boy, Casper, who seemed to appreciate her efforts. He happily dug into his pancakes, making a mess in the process.

Lauren smiled at the child's enthusiasm, grateful for the small victory in her day. But her happiness was short-lived as Casper suddenly poured out the honey all over her face.

She couldn't help but shake her head in exasperation as the kids laughed at her expense. It was clear that she had a long way to go in earning their respect and attention.
