I smiled again.

I made sure I was matching her tone easily.

Everything about her looked too normal.

Then she said we should step out in her car…

That got me. I didn’t see that one coming.

I had thought I was already in ‘the house.’ I had the strong urge to say something… ask her if that wasn't the house, but I swallowed it and played along.

I didn’t think too much about it. Didn’t have to. I knew that no matter what happened, I'd have it all in control.
