A Pawn in the Game

Wendy had, as usual, carried on with her life like nothing has happened. At first, Louis was disturbed. How did she switch easily from having a full blown mental breakdown to talking about how the cream in your coffee tasted like some chocolate you used to have when you were six.

She had done the same thing after he had found her shivering under the hot shower. And it threw Louis off, completely. And they had ended up never talking about the incident again.

How would they? The woman treated him like he had been overacting. If he had not held her shaking body in his arms through the night, he would have started to doubt of the incident really happened.

But today, Louis decided to play her game. While she sat in bed, chattering about some childhood chocolate, while emptying the jar of cream into her little coffee cup, he sat across the room, with his head buried in some old news paper that had been lying around carelessly.
