Piper’s POV
The last thing I remember was my hand being grabbed by Christopher. I managed to open my eyes, my head spinning like I had just taken a hypnotic drug. “You look so weak.” I heard the voice dimly but I was able to recognize it easily. I managed to move, and I noticed I was tied up. My hands were behind me, and every time I nudged, it felt like the rope got tighter. I tried moving harder to untie the eooe, but I almost fell headfirst from my legs being tied to the bottom of the chair. “What the fuck? How dare you tie a woman? Once I leave this place, you are going to jail!” “Who said anything about you leaving? You know way too much, Piper. We cannot risk it.” “What do you plan on doing to me huh?” I was internally scared, but there was no way I was going to accept defeat just yet, I needed to fight for what I wanted. He came out of nowhere, the black mist disappearing and his plain figure showing. He walked closer to me, his scent filling the air and suffocating me. He walked closer to me, his hands on my face, taunting me. “What the fuck are you going to do with me?” He slammed his hand on the chair, making me gasp and jump out of my skin. “You know too much Lily,” His voice was normal, but it sounded like it was the devil’s. “Why are you doing all this with my husband? What is the worth?” “Your husband?” I sighed heavily and breathed out. That was the wrong choice of words, there was no way that a lying tongue, an evil man, would continue to be my husband. I bit my lower lip and closed my eyes. “I do not think you should consider Ethan your husband, especially now that Selena is back; in fact, I do not think you should rate yourself anymore.” The air was becoming heavier. I felt like the more we spoke, the more he lingered his intentions. “You still have not told me what you want to do with me.” He pulled a chair from the side and sat opposite me, his eyes making dead contact with mine. “What do you suggest we do? It is too risky to leave you in the city, considering the fact that you know a lot, but it is also riskier to kill you because people would ask questions.” He scoffed at me and rolled his eyes. I can already imagine the headlines. “Wife of a billionaire, murdered..Ex came for business.” “I need to drink water.” I had a perfectly curated idea for my escape. My necklace was still on me and since it was made of pure silver, it was my only weapon and probably my only means out of here, alive. “You want me to untie your hands?” “I mean, my legs are still tied, so what are the chances of me running away?” “Hmm.” He looked at me with doubt but he stood up and left, coming back with a glass of water. “How am I supposed to drink it?” He trolled his eyes from my head to my toes and untied the rope holding my hands. I felt the gush of blood through my hands again, and I touched my necklace to ensure it was still on my neck. Cameron could maybe hear me too. “Drink.” I took the cup from his hands and had a mouthful of water, the water seeming to burn down the resentment I had at the moment. “Does Ethan know I am here?” I managed to say, my facial expressions probably displaying so much disgust and resentment towards that name. “I might be the primary mastermind behind everything, the muse, but I do not work alone. Selena and Ethan are my accomplices.” “Why are they doing all these and hiding so much?” “Why are you snooping around?” “I was going through my husband's and my property.” “Husband?” He raised an eyebrow and I stood up, leaving the room. My hands went back to my necklace, flicking it and whispering lowly to make some sort of noise to ensure that I was still in contact with Cameroon. “Can you hear me?” “Do not reply. The necklace you are putting on has a secret knife weapon. Use it. Stay safe, we are still trying to ping your location.” Christopher came back, this time with a big human-sized duffel bag and a gallon. “So, Piper, we are going to make this fast and easy. I want to move you to another location. Information has it that Cameron and his cohorts are trying to ping us.” “Where are you moving me to?” “You will know when we get there,” He got closer to me, crouching to untie me. “This is your time to strike,” As he crouched, I pulled off my necklace from my neck and held the string, and used the diamond piece to stab his back, targeting his spinal cord. “Ah!” He fell to the floor, his blood splattering all over my body and the floor. My legs were almost untied, and I loosened them fully. I stood up, continued stabbing him till I was sure that he had passed out. “Never mess with me, again.” I traced through the building and found a door, rushing out to seek help. I walked up front, dizzy and lost, trying to find my way. My eyeballs dimmed when I found a bright headlight coming closer. I craned my neck to see Selena driving at high speed in my direction. She spotted me and increased the speed, aiming to hit me. I moved out of the way but the bright light was still approaching. She swerved to the side of the road where I managed to corner into… The last thing I could remember was seeing black and waking up in a hospital.Chapter 15PIPER'S POVI glared at the pills in my hands before throwing them all down my throat at once. I grabbed the glass of water on the side table and gulped at least half of it. I had escaped my breath and there came a knock on the door. The door was pushed open slightly ajar with Ms. Anna's head sticking out through the side, "Breakfast is ready." She announced to me with a smile." I'm right behind you," I responded. The day I traveled by bus to Howell's township, Anna gave me an offer which I strongly believe can change my life henceforth, she even offered to let me stay with her in her small house till I'm able to get a place for myself. I had never been to her boutique, but with how many calls she takes and how busy she usually is, I'd say she's doing really well for herself. I didn't really know much about her, like whether she's married or has any kids at all, but life seemed pretty peaceful.I didn't tell her the full story behind my dilemma, nor did I tell her about
Chapter 14PIPER'S POV"I'll have one bus ticket, please," I said to the cashier, rubbing my hands against my arm in response to the cold weather as I scanned the bus station, watching different people loiter around with their suitcases. I turned my gaze to my soon-to-be baby bump and rubbed my hands against my belly."Here," the cashier said, drawing my attention."Thank you." I shot her a smile and made my way into the bus and took a seat, as I waited for the driver to start the bus, and turned to the window. From this day onwards, I knew my life would change, moving from the city to a smaller one where nobody knew me. I guess this is what comes with fame: my dumb husband left me, and the entire city is well aware. All Ethan ever did was make a mockery of me to the entire public. Everywhere I go and every room I walk into, I get stares and whispers. It's been weeks since he served me divorce papers and threw me out, and he never even bothered to check on me, nor did he ask about m
PIPER'S POVIt's been weeks since Ethan kicked me out, and not even a word have I heard from him, nor have I seen him around, nor has he replied to the mockery and insensitive comments I was getting from the media. At the same time, it's been quite a while since I met Mr. Mysterious, and we still haven't crossed paths since then. The money I stole from myself had been sustaining me up to this point. After the night at the hotel, I was back to sleeping in the subway or abandoned stores and taking naps on benches in the park.Life only grew worse; I was still unable to find a job, and it seemed like I had already caught the flu. I walked into the pharmacy, and all eyes were on me. The whispers increased, but only reduced when I got to the counter."I'll need medication for a flu and a fever maybe." I ordered." Okay, I'll be right back." The cashier turned over to the shelves, searching for the drugs I requested, whereas I held my head in my hands when I started to feel very, very dizzy
PIPER'S POVDays later, I still hadn't gotten a call from Ethan, no text, or even an apology note since the day I left his house. I was already too exhausted from wandering all over the streets and sleeping on street benches or subways. This was so impromptu, I wasn't even sure who to turn to or where to go. I looked like a lost sheep as I strolled with my suitcase, but I knew I couldn't continue like this. At the same time, it was very unfortunate because I didn't even know what step to take. People were already giving me judgmental eyes, the entire social media was all on Ethan's side, therefore everyone was against me. It was so obvious on social media after a few people took random pictures of me looking homeless on the street.People kept making the most insensitive comments. In that minute, everyone suddenly had something to say about my life or marriage, even though they barely even knew me. I spotted an unoccupied bench and just sat there, thinking about everything, how my
The bright morning light seeped into the room through the windows, and to my face, I could feel myself waking up, but before I completely did, the thought of last night came strolling through my mind, causing a soft grin to form. It felt good and at the same time, it felt like that was all I needed.I brushed my hands through the other side of the bed, from up to down, but it felt weird, either Ethan was lying way too far from me, or he wasn't even on the bed. I furrowed my brows in confusion, my eyes still shut tight.Instantly, I sprang off the bed and sat up, and before me was Ethan, standing at the balcony with his hands resting behind him. He was already dressed in his suit, probably waiting to say goodbye to me before he leaves for the office.I couldn't help but let the smile linger on my face, the memory from yesterday kept replaying and replaying in my head. Ethan wanted a night of intimacy with me, which meant he clearly still had a burning flame of affection for me deep in
Ethan's povI angrily stormed out of the office, ignoring my secretary's call. Someone Piper managed to ruin my day, even though somehow we barely even spoke.I drove out of the office gates and straight to a lounge down town where I could just have a drink and clear my mind for a bit "I'll have a glass of your finest wine." I said to the waiter in a neatly ironed white shirt with a white towel dangling off his arm."Yes sir." He responded. He turned around and glared at the shelf in front of him, with different kinds of drinks in bottles all stacked up. He reached out for what I presume is red wine and grabbed a glass and poured in a bit into a glass...."Thank you." I took a sip and began to think about Piper. I think it's high time we get a divorce, because I just couldn't imagine myself with her any more. At this rate, I was sure my heat belonged to Selena. She's the one my soul yearns for and I can't get her if Piper is in the way.Unfortunately, Selena is making me choose ... S
