Piper’s POV

The last thing I remember was my hand being grabbed by Christopher.

I managed to open my eyes, my head spinning like I had just taken a hypnotic drug.

“You look so weak.”

I heard the voice dimly but I was able to recognize it easily.

I managed to move, and I noticed I was tied up.

My hands were behind me, and every time I nudged, it felt like the rope got tighter. I tried moving harder to untie the eooe, but I almost fell headfirst from my legs being tied to the bottom of the chair.

“What the fuck? How dare you tie a woman? Once I leave this place, you are going to jail!”

“Who said anything about you leaving? You know way too much, Piper. We cannot risk it.”

“What do you plan on doing to me huh?”

I was internally scared, but there was no way I was going to accept defeat just yet, I needed to fight for what I wanted.

He came out of nowhere, the black mist disappearing and his plain figure showing.

He walked closer to me, his scent filling the air and suffocating me.

He walked closer to me, his hands on my face, taunting me.

“What the fuck are you going to do with me?”

He slammed his hand on the chair, making me gasp and jump out of my skin.

“You know too much Lily,”

His voice was normal, but it sounded like it was the devil’s.

“Why are you doing all this with my husband? What is the worth?”

“Your husband?”

I sighed heavily and breathed out. That was the wrong choice of words, there was no way that a lying tongue, an evil man, would continue to be my husband.

I bit my lower lip and closed my eyes.

“I do not think you should consider Ethan your husband, especially now that Selena is back; in fact, I do not think you should rate yourself anymore.”

The air was becoming heavier. I felt like the more we spoke, the more he lingered his intentions.

“You still have not told me what you want to do with me.”

He pulled a chair from the side and sat opposite me, his eyes making dead contact with mine.

“What do you suggest we do? It is too risky to leave you in the city, considering the fact that you know a lot, but it is also riskier to kill you because people would ask questions.”

He scoffed at me and rolled his eyes.

I can already imagine the headlines.

“Wife of a billionaire, murdered..Ex came for business.”

“I need to drink water.”

I had a perfectly curated idea for my escape. My necklace was still on me and since it was made of pure silver, it was my only weapon and probably my only means out of here, alive.

“You want me to untie your hands?”

“I mean, my legs are still tied, so what are the chances of me running away?”

“Hmm.”

He looked at me with doubt but he stood up and left, coming back with a glass of water.

“How am I supposed to drink it?”

He trolled his eyes from my head to my toes and untied the rope holding my hands.

I felt the gush of blood through my hands again, and I touched my necklace to ensure it was still on my neck.

Cameron could maybe hear me too.

“Drink.”

I took the cup from his hands and had a mouthful of water, the water seeming to burn down the resentment I had at the moment.

“Does Ethan know I am here?”

I managed to say, my facial expressions probably displaying so much disgust and resentment towards that name.

“I might be the primary mastermind behind everything, the muse, but I do not work alone. Selena and Ethan are my accomplices.”

“Why are they doing all these and hiding so much?”

“Why are you snooping around?”

“I was going through my husband's and my property.”

“Husband?”

He raised an eyebrow and I stood up, leaving the room.

My hands went back to my necklace, flicking it and whispering lowly to make some sort of noise to ensure that I was still in contact with Cameroon.

“Can you hear me?”

“Do not reply. The necklace you are putting on has a secret knife weapon. Use it. Stay safe, we are still trying to ping your location.”

Christopher came back, this time with a big human-sized duffel bag and a gallon.

“So, Piper, we are going to make this fast and easy. I want to move you to another location. Information has it that Cameron and his cohorts are trying to ping us.”

“Where are you moving me to?”

“You will know when we get there,”

He got closer to me, crouching to untie me.

“This is your time to strike,”

As he crouched, I pulled off my necklace from my neck and held the string, and used the diamond piece to stab his back, targeting his spinal cord.

“Ah!”

He fell to the floor, his blood splattering all over my body and the floor.

My legs were almost untied, and I loosened them fully.

I stood up, continued stabbing him till I was sure that he had passed out.

“Never mess with me, again.”

I traced through the building and found a door, rushing out to seek help.

I walked up front, dizzy and lost, trying to find my way.

My eyeballs dimmed when I found a bright headlight coming closer. I craned my neck to see Selena driving at high speed in my direction.

She spotted me and increased the speed, aiming to hit me.

I moved out of the way but the bright light was still approaching.

She swerved to the side of the road where I managed to corner into…

The last thing I could remember was seeing black and waking up in a hospital.

  • THE COLD CEO UNKNOWN HEIR   chapter 60

Selena’s POV You must think of me as the bad guy, don't you?A thin dry smile settled on my face while i watched Ethan's breath rise and fall on the hospital bed. His body, for the first time today, wasn't moving. My fingers clicked as I stared at the reflection of the moonlight on his body. How did we even end up here? I sniffed and tried leaning back on the hospital's chair but a light creaking sound from behind forced me to jump on my feet almost immediately. My face scrunched up in disgust. How could a hospital's VIP ward be so tacky and unkempt? I glanced at the beeping machine he was connected to and for a split second, my chest rose with the overwhelming urge to pull the plug and just end his life right here. But of course, that would be a death sentence. He had the liberty of life while mine was constantly being haunted and tortured. Just as that thought crossed my mind, my phone buzzed with a notification sound. I glanced down and it was a text message from an unknown n

  • THE COLD CEO UNKNOWN HEIR   chapter 59

Piper's POV The minute I returned to my room, my knees crumbled as my body slowly slid down the locked door. “I'm so fucking stupid.” I whimpered. Tears rolled down my eyes like water from a fountain. Back there, Jace had technically admitted that he had everything planned out. His stuttered responses, his fleeting eye contacts, the look of frustration in his eyes. I was way too familiar with that look. It was the same look I saw in Ethan's eyes, the first day I found out he was cheating on me eith Selena. That broken, yet unremorseful look. I wrapped my hands tightly sround my mouth to avoid breaking out in tears but I still managed to let it slip. My chest ached like I had something heavy sitting on it and the more my hands rubbed my chest to soothe the pain, the harder it burned. How did I miss all of this from the start? How did I get fooled by Ethan only to get treated by an idiot by Jace? Tears filled my eyes as my thoughts slowly relived the moments I thought I was gr

  • THE COLD CEO UNKNOWN HEIR   chapter 58

Piper's POV How long will he take to get here? I had started pacing around the living room while my heart thumped hard in my chest. It had been twenty minutes since Lucille told me he was at the gate, yet he was nowhere to be found. “Did she say that to make me leave my room?” I wondered in my head. But I knew she wouldn't do that. It didn't help that the security men were no longer in the house. I figured they must've left because he was here. I bit my lips and cracked my knuckles nervously. I tried to think of what I'd say to him, how I’d act when I saw him. I didn't have to think for longer because the door knob soon started turning from outside. My breath hitched as I watched the door being slowly pushed in. My eyes, for a weird reason, remained glued to the door even after I saw his black, shiny Doctor Martens. My legs faltered a bit as I took a step back, still keeping my eyes on his shoes as they approached until he was standing right on the other side of the center tabl

  • THE COLD CEO UNKNOWN HEIR   chapter 57

Piper's POV It's been three days since I last heard from him. Three days since I watched him get shot during a live broadcast. The house is still being guarded to the teeth. Every corner literally breathes a hive of armed men and for weird reasons, they've managed to confine me to my bedroom. I stared at the plate of food on my bedside table and a small hiss just slipped out of my mouth. My hands folded right under my breasts as I threw my face away from it. For the past three days, Lucille has resorted to trying to force food down my throat instead of letting me out like I'd been asking. I couldn't stop thinking about him. About everything I saw on that broadcast. The trifling war between Ethan and Jace. The way both men stared at each other like they were one bullet each, away from killing each other. But nothing beats the chilling shudder that ran down my spine after I had a nightmare about Ethan. He was going to come after me…not just me but my baby too. My hands instinc

  • THE COLD CEO UNKNOWN HEIR   chapter 56

Ethan's POV “And you had to shoot him to prove your fucking point?” “So what if he got in the way of the shot, why didn't you call a fucking ceasefire?” Those were the first words I heard the minute my head started to rise about the dark water I was in. My eyes were closed but I felt a sharp pain stinging through my back so I kept them shut. My heart slammed against my chest. I couldn't make out the voice of who was speaking because for some reason, my ears kept echoing in my head. At first, I tried lifting my fingers but I couldn't feel it. Or maybe I didn't have them anymore. It wasn't until then that I realised I couldn't feel the rest of my body. Except for the pain that was almost tearing my back apart. I bit my lips and grunted whilst attempting to force my body back to life but it was to no avail. My hands tightened around the piece of clothing beside me. The more I tried, the more my body sank deeper and I felt my muscle strength slowly weaning away. Just as I started to

  • THE COLD CEO UNKNOWN HEIR   chapter 55

Jace's POV “Oh shit! That stings!” I hissed as pain shot through my shoulder. The doctor tilted slightly before gripping my arms a little less tighter. I pursed my lips when he grazed my bullet wound with a cotton wool. Just a couple of minutes ago, I was addressing a crowd and now, I was in an abandoned warehouse, treating a bullet wound. I sucked in my breath and bit my lips hard as the pain in my arm spiked up. For a second, I dabbled with the thought of leaving the wound untreated. My hands pulled my tie until it was loose around my neck. In my head, my thoughts were spiraling. I couldn't stop thinking about the second I sighted the sniper across the balcony, the red dot of his target on my shoulder. Someone in the council was really out for my head. My fists wrapped tightly into a punch. Whoever was behind this whole thing must've planned it really well, even I almost missed it. I tried to think of what would've happened if Ethan hadn't gotten up in time to take the hit in

  • THE COLD CEO UNKNOWN HEIR   Chapter 11

The bright morning light seeped into the room through the windows, and to my face, I could feel myself waking up, but before I completely did, the thought of last night came strolling through my mind, causing a soft grin to form.
