The attack

We stayed inside the hospital for the night as we all sat in a room there.

I sat on a small chair in a corner while the rest of the team littered the room.

Some were sitting on the bed while some on the bare floor.

Mark could be seen sitting on the bed with his tablet in his hand as he kept tapping on it occasionally.

Vera could be seen sitting on the bare floor at a corner in the room with a phone in her hand.

Wow! She brought a phone along.

   "So guys, we head south tomorrow, it's going to be a long journey and trust me it's very dangerous. The place is really filled with mutants, stronger and faster ones. These ones possesses super speed and strength. They don't die easily so you have to head for their head..the head is their weak point and once they got hit on their head then they become weak. So just aim at their head..get a headshot if possible and also, they posseses healing ability as they heal faster when injured" Mark said after some minutes of tapping on his tablet.

Superspeed? Super strength? Healing ability?

Are these people really zombies?

Zombies don't heal or possess super strength and speed but these ones are different. Definitely they are not zombies but something more dangerous than zombies.

In all my life, have never imagined myself being in this kind of situation where I would be going on this kind of mission which could cost me my life.

"So guys, one thing about these monsters is, they are bloodthirsty. They crave for blood and that made them just like zombies but they aren't zombies. They are something much more powerful and stronger and faster than zombies. Believe me guys, these monsters are in their right state of mind except that they get really wide at the smell of a blood. Apart from the blood they always crave for and their abilities, there's no difference among us. And about the beast species. As you all know, they are the deadliest among these monsters. Beast species are rare and they are the most powerful and the deadliest among them all. A beast can kill three men with just a punch and can detach a human head in just one movement. They aren't as fast as the zombies but their healing process is fast, faster than the zombies. They are huge and had a lot of dark big boils all over their body. They look irritating and fearsome. Trust me, you gonna poke if you see them. They are very far away from where we are. They are the closest to the laboratory we are getting the cure from so this is not going to be an easy task. So do well and brace yourself for what's coming guys. We head south tomorrow" Mark ended his long speech which we had all listened to silently.

The beast species are more stronger than the zombies and they heal faster. What the heck is this?

 "How do we get rid of these beasts?" I asked.

" The back of their head is their weak point. Just shoot them at the back of their head and they will get weaker and their healing process will be slow. Three bullets at the back of their head and then they are dead but make sure you don't miss."Mark stated.

Ooh..I think am getting it now.

My mind went back to my brother and I couldn't help but blame myself for what happened to him.

I wish I had listened to him.

But it's gone how, all I have to do now is to look for the cure and cure my brother so we can become the once happy family that we were three weeks ago until the virus broke out.

Mom and dad are currently not in the country .

They had travled to california just a week before the virus broke out and am glad they aren't in the country because only God knows what would have happened to them if they were in the country.

The room was quiet as everyone had different thoughts running through their troubled mind.

We were all young so it's gonna be hard for us to cope. Well except Mark, he seemed to be the oldest among us as he seemed to be in his late forties.

Well, am 19.

Vera look 18 while the rest, I don't know about that but no one among them pass the age of 20.

We are all young.

I looked around the room.

No one was sleeping, everyone got their eyes opened but said nothing as we were all thinking about the mission which laid ahead of us.

NEXT DAY

The morning came quickly than expected.

We are all up preparing for the journey.

Today's just the beginning of it all and I hope we all survive it.

"Alright guys, we start our journey now" Mark said as we all assembled in front of the hospital. "This is not going to be an easy task but you have to be brave, strong and determined. You don't have to be scared, if you get scared then you will become weak and once you become weak, these monsters will have their way. So guys, be strong." Mark stated encouragingly.

We all nodded and then the journey began. 

At first it was peaceful as nothing was heard or seen. The journey was so peaceful that I was almost convinced that getting the cure will be easy not until something happened.

We suddenly heard a someone growl.

We stopped on our track as we quickly formed a circle pouting our guns out. Each person facing a particular direction ready to fire any monster.

The footsteps started getting closer and harder.

The growl also continued and we waited keenly for the monster to show itself.

The footsteps and growls suddenly stopped.

Wait! Is this some kind of trick or what?

I was still thinking when a kick from nowhere threw me away and I landed roughly on my back.

Despite the attack, no one was seen!
