The morning air was crisp, heavy with dew and the quiet rustle of leaves. As Miguma walked through the hallways, in Laura’s body she felt good after what she did in the Enforcers office.

The other recruits had gathered near the training field, laughter and grunts blending into the usual chorus of pre-dawn discipline.

Inside her, the war had already begun.

Laura was confused on what to do to gain control back.

Miguma spoke to her, her voice lily and cold “Your not strong enough to take control. Don’t worry I will be in control from now on.”

“Elara” Laura whispered. A call from soul to soul.

But Elara didn’t answer. Her presence floated, silent. Distant. Trapped.

Miguma chuckled “She’s dreaming. A lovely spell, don’t you think?”

Panic flared within Laura, but a flicker of memory pushed through the fog. Elara’s voice soft and unwavering

The barracks loomed ahead, lanterns glowing softly along its perimeter, casting golden lights across the worn stone paths. The recruits have just returned from the herb hunt, moved in weary groups some chatting, others simply glad to be back. Their boots crunched against the gravel, shoulders sagging with the weight of the hunts exertion. Laura and Shiela walked beside each other, their conversation was light and filled the comfort of their friendship. The pungent scent of the restorative herb clung to their hands, tucked into pouches by their hips. The wind rustled the trees softly, the world too calm.Suddenly Elara’s voice echoed inside Laura’s head. Urgent. “It is time. You must shift now.” Laura’s eyes widened. Now? She tumbled a step clutching her chest, panic rising in her throat.“Why now Elara? We aren’t even alone, what’s going on?”But Elara was silent. No reply came.Pain exploded through Laura’s spine. She gasped and fell to her knees. Shiela turned, alarmed, but bef

A voice broke the moment like a cracked mirror.Shiela.Laura turned, Shiela stood a few steps behind her, confused, her brows furrowed. Her breathing was labored. She left the group in search of Laura when she saw that Laura wasn’t with them anymore.“Shiela.” Laura said softly, torn between realms. The celestial star’s shimmed brighter.“I’ll explain.” Laura added turning fully toward her“ I promise…. Just wait.”Shiela blinked “Explain what?… Laura what is going on?”Before Laura could speak, Elara’s voice sounded inside her:“Time is slipping Laura, the stars won’t stay much longer. We must continue now!”Laura turned back to the celestial women, urgency tightening her chest. Shiela looked at Laura as she motioned to the soft patch of earth beside her.“Sit down. Shiela.” Laura said, her voice steady“And just…. Let me finish.”Shiela hesitated, glancing at the glowing women. Her eyes wide with awe, and fear flickering at the edges. But she slowly lowered herself to the ground and

The clangs of boots of boots echoed in the distance as Laura sat up on her bed, the chill of the early dawn creeping in through the barrack walls. The morning jog was about to start, Laura and Shiela hurried outside jogging with the others, their rhythmic chants growing fainter as they disappeared down the training rails.Laura’s brown eyes blinked alert.Suddenly, she heard Miguma’s voice whispering in her head like wind through pine trees. “It’s a full moon tonight. It will be easier to converse with the stars. We may reach my people and find the solution…. So I won’t emerge whenever you get angry.”Laura inhaled slowly, her shoulders stiff as she considered Miguma’s words.“Elara? What do you think?….Do you accept that?”From deep within, Elara stirred a soft snarl turning to a purr of agreement.“It is wise. You will know more of our children an perhaps know more about the reason the goddess tied Miguma to you.”Laura gave a slow nod, but frowned “But how do we leave the barrack

The gym was dimly lit carvenous at this hour, lit only by the faint flickering overhead lights and the cold sheen of moonlight sweeping in through the high windows. The scent of sweat clung heavily in the air like an old memory, thick with tension and echoes of movement. At the far ends, near the stacked mats and the heavy punching bags, Laura stood motionless, her chest rising and falling with quiet unease. Miguma’s voice, low and distant like thunder beyond hills, Miguma had just finished speaking “ You only come forth when I am angry, which means you were forged in rage.” Laura’s voice more curious. She felt an eerie calmness, as if her body were holding back a storm inside.Miguma’s figure hovered over her vision, not exactly a figure, a shadow—an outline cut from the deepest black. Her form seemed to pulse with every essence of heartless fire, a presence rather than a person. Elara stood beside Miguma inside Laura’s mind, her ears twitching, her bright amber eyes sharp a

The fire in the cave had been snuffed out by a strong unseen force. The witch stood up from the ground and noticed her bleeding head. She quickly said a spell to stop the bleeding. She stood in the middle of the cave, her fingers twitched sensing the unseen force. In one swift motion, she turned to Melody who was unconscious on the floor.“Melody.” She called out. Shaking her.Melody stirred, blinking. Holding onto her head, her vision was blurred. “Auntie?”“It’s dawn. You must return to the pack now.” The witch said wrapping herself in a thin black shawl.Melody stood and stepped outside, peering toward the horizon.
