Alpha Damian leaned back in the leather seat of his private jet, the soft hum of the engines barely registering in his ear. Outside the tinted windows, clouds drifted lazily, white, serene and unbothered. He envied them.

Across from him sat the Gamma, Kyle, eyes buried deep in thick folder of documents, permits, blueprints and board approvals. Damian hadn’t touched a single one.

He wasn’t going there for the groundbreaking. He never had been.

The real reason was a thousand miles away from him. Laura.

“What?” Marisa’s face twisted in disbelief, her voice shrill with rising panic. Before Laura could respond, Damian’s voice rang out like a crack of a thunder.“ Marisa!” He barked, his tone laced with rage.“ You’ve been out the cell for less than a day, and already your causing trouble?” Marisa’s eyes flared red with fury as she snarled at him.“ Don’t you dare try to change the topic Damian!Answer the damn question. WHY DID SHE CALL YOU MATE?”That was the last straw.Damian’s wolf surged just beneath the surface, his growl deep and dangerous echoing over the walls. “You dare snarl at me? You, a traitor to this pack, question me? Do you want to go back to the prison cell?”Marisa’s voice faltered, her bravado cracking “ N—no.” She murmured, her voice small now. “Good.” Damian’s voice was cold now. Unforgiving.“ Then hear me clearly. You are no longer welcome in Blackmoon pack. You’ll return back to your fathers pack.”A stunned silence fell.Marisa’s face went pale. “ W—what? I’

A tall silhouette stood at the door. Then another followed. Marisa’s eyes widened.A maid and a guard.“WHAT THE HELL—!!” She screamed, instinct rising like a storm. The maid pale and breathless, stood with her sleeves loose, and brazier peeking out. The guard beside her looked quite as flustered, belt hanging undone, clearly having rushed in without warning or preparation.“Forgive us, m’lady!” The maid stammered, face flushing. “ We—we didn’t know you had been released—““You WHAT?” Marisa shrieked, pointing a wet arm at the door. “GET OUT.”They stumbled backwards, tripping over each other as they scrambled to the door. The maids slipper slipped off her foot. The guards belt clattered against the floor. They both vanished out the door as Marisa lunged forward ready to leap from the tub and throttle them herself. The door slammed shut behind them.Marisa stood in the tub, chest heaving, water trailing down her skin, her face a mask of humiliation and fury. She barred her teeth.“D

“Laura!!” Gina and Lina shrieked in unison, nearly dropping their flowers.Hopes basket tipped from her hand, she turned and threw her arms around Laura’s neck, burying her face in leather of the gear. Her hug was tight with months of missing her, of nights without her stories, without her scent, without her steady presence.Laura let out a soft laugh, she picked Hope easily from the ground “Hey there, pup.”Gina and Lina reached them in moments later, wrapping their arms around Laura in a group hug, that turned into a small, laughing pile of tangled limbs, leather and linen. “You’re back! Finally!!” Lina said, eyes bright.“ Thank the Moon Goddess.” Gina murmured pressing her forehead to Laura’s shoulder.“ We missed you like crazy.”“I missed too.” Laura said voice softer now.“All of you.” “I’ll take your bag.” Lina said plucking the duffel from Laura’s shoulder. “ Your rooms just like you left it. We’ve been keeping it clean.”“Smells like your still in it.” Gina added with a te

The distant clangs of weapons, the shouts of terrified recruits, and the strange unnatural gust of wind stirred Laura awake. Her vision swam. She groaned and blinked opening her eye, around her, the barracks had erupted into chaos. Blades flashing in all directions yet striking nothing. The enemy wasn’t visible.A sharp sting flared through her face. She lifted a trembling hand to her nose and pulled away. Blood. She had been hit hard. The memory returned like fragments. A punch out of nowhere sent her flying. She blacked out.Still shaking, she pushed herself upright, the cold sweat of confusion clinging to her skin.“Elara..” she whispered hoarsely.“What was that?” Laura asked, still dazed.Elara replied “ I don’t know.
