CHAPTER 127 - THE EXECUTION

-MIKAYLA’S POV*

Barefooted, I was clad in a long red gown that touched the ground. Red signified the shedding of blood and sinfulness. It's the day of my death for the crimes that I did not commit.

I had to walk the crucifixion path from the cottage to Davidan Forest, which is south of the territory. With the soles of my feet grated against the dirt and pebbles, I came upon a clearing in the middle of the forest where the sun scorched the green pigmentation from the grass, turning it brown and crisp. The fierce sun's combative photons, which scorched my ivory skin, had no wind to temper them.

Amidst the green field was the stake consisting of a tall pillar with a large pile of firewood and stones at the base for torching. All the Elders stood to the left, while the Alpha and Luna and warriors were on the right. Valen was at the stake, waiting for me.

Because Heron had marked me, the majority of the pack was mournful. I felt their pain, while they felt mine.

This is not what I would expect in remaining true to the characters. How can you give a death sentence to someone accused of theft and attempted murder with neither being worthy of a sentence so final. What happens when she's proven innocent of offenses? Say oops my bad,SMH!
