LOGINLucas car parked in front of a building. Him and his demon guards got into the elevator and stopped at the 7th floor, then they walked down the row of corridors till they got to a door. Lucas rang the doorbell and waited.
"Master, we could just let ourselves in. Why are we ringing the doorbell?" Levi asked him, and a wicked smile spread on his face, but he shook his head. "Today, we'll be gentlemen. I don't have intentions of hurting them yet; I just want to send a message to Aria." The door opened, and an old woman stood in the frame. "Who are you, gentlemen?" "You must be the housekeeper. I am Lucas, a special friend of Aria, and we came to visit our friends inside." The old lady eyed them suspiciously. She let Lucas in and told the rest to wait outside. As soon as the boys saw him, they began to scream, afraid that he had come to burn them like he promised them. Lucas was amused by their pleadings, and he laughed out softly. The old lady turned to face the smiling Lucas. She became scared and suggested that he left the house. "I'm afraid, I'll have to ask you to leave. The boys are uncomfortable with your presence, and that's not good for their condition." "Of course, I should be on my way now. I'm just glad that they're save and sound, but I'll need you to pass on a message to my dear Aria." He followed the woman to the door. "Tell her that I visited, and that my offer to relieve her of her stress still stands." With that, he left with his guards. The old lady shut the door, and dialed for Aria immediately. "Lucas was there?" Aria screamed out, drawing the attention of the customers. She apologized to them, and dashed out of the shop. "Are you certain he left the building?" Aria asked the housekeeper. "Yeah, but he spoke about some kind of offer that he has made you. What is that about?" "Don't worry about it. I'll fix this." Aria said, and hung up. She redialed for Lucas, and on the second ring he picked up. "I see that someone terribly misses this evil guy. To what do I owe this call?" "I think it's time we had that lunch." Aria said. "Whoa, lovely. Do I pick you up?" "No, tell me where you are. I'll come to you." "It would've been nicer if I came to pick you from work. Don't you think?" "Lucas, if you don't tell me where you are right now, you'll never hear from me again, and you can forget about regaining my friendship." Aria threatened, and hoped that the threats would get to Lucas, and cause him a change of heart. Lucas was quiet for a while. He knew what Aria was playing at, but he liked it. He was amazed to see the length she could reach to protect those boys, and he decided to fall for her games. "I'm at the office, Aria." He said to her finally, and he heard her breathe in and out, probably feeling satisfied that her plans had worked out. A few minutes later, a cab pulled up in front of the company, and Aria got out. She stared at the huge building, and wondered if she should call Lucas again. She was about to dial his number when she saw Levi walking towards her. "He does have eyes everywhere." She muttered to herself, and smiled at the demon coming close to her. "I'm Levi, Lucas personal assistant." He introduced himself to her. "I remember you. You played a huge role in holding me back while your evil boss mauled those boys. How could I possibly forget that face?" Aria replied, still holding a tight smile. Levi chuckled, and led the way. "Well, the evil boss awaits your arrival." Aria followed him into the company, and she was awed at the beauty of place. "Whoa, this place is beautiful." She exclaimed, and Levi smiled. "Wait till you see his office. It's nothing compared to this." "I doubt that guy has any sense of beauty." Aria said, and followed him into an elevator. They got to the top floor, and the elevator stopped. The two stepped out, and Aria heaved a sigh of relief. She had been wondering why they hadn't gotten to Lucas office floor yet, but she was soon to figure that his office was at the topmost floor. Levi led her into Lucas office, and Aria's eyes went wide with surprise. The office was as large as a two bedroom apartment, and it had a wine cellar. The couch was beautiful, and arranged nicely. She looked around her, and saw how sparkling the office was. Levi smiled at her. "I told you." He said to her, and she nodded, still awed. "I guess no one has seen that I'm also in here. The invisible man." Lucas said, trying to get Aria's attention, but she rolled her eyes at him and kept staring at the designs of the large office. Some meters away from the building, a figure stood on the rooftop of a building and watched the two. A smirk appeared on his face as he watched Lucas futile attempt to get the lady's attention. "A hundred years later, my evil son finally falls in love with a human. What an adorable sight."Aria shut the door harder than she had intended. The sound echoed through the corridors of Lucas's house_too loud, too final_and for a second, she stood there with her hand still on the handle. The house answered with silence. It always did. Lucas's house had a way of swallowing noise as if it was keeping secrets tucked neatly into its walls. She drew a slow breath and moved deeper into the room, the floor cool beneath her bare feet. Outside the tall windows, the night crouched low and heavy, clouds swallowing the moon. The world beyond the glass looked distant, almost unreal. Inside, the air felt too thick. She didn't know what, or how to feel.Though she was glad that the devil's son had come on time to save her from the vengeful witches, but at the same time, she felt angry that he ignored her pleas and let Selene chase after them.Aria sat at the edge of the bed and pressed her fingers to her temples. Aria lay on the cold Earth long after Venice walked away. The woods had gone eerily silent, as though even nature itself was afraid to breathe in the presence of the witches of the red order. The red candles burned steadily, their flames unmoved by the wind, casting twisted shadows that crawled over the trees and across Aria's trembling body. Her chest still ached_deep, lingering pain that pulsed with every heartbeat. She pressed her palm against it, afraid to feel for a heart that Venice had promised to tear out if Lucas failed her twisted test. Lucas... The name echoed in her heart like a prayer. She truly wished he'd feel her pain, and come to her aid. Though that might seem selfish since Selene had warned against their meeting, but at this point, Aria couldn't care less. All she wanted was to get away from this dangerous witches that laughed in her face while she writhed in pain. She tried to move, but her limbs felt heavy, uncooperative, as though the earth itself was hold
The chamber was unnervingly silent. The kind of silence that presses against your chest and makes every heartbeat feel like a warning. Lucas stood by the tall arched window, his back rigid, shoulders tensed. Moonlight poured in, painting his form in silver, and shadows highlighting the taut muscles of his arms and the fine lines of restraint etched into his golden eyes. He started at Selene who was sitting on the stone bench across from him, the thought of his conversations with Lucifer swirling inside his head. Looking at her, he could make out the faint bruises from the injuries she had sustained from whatever it was that she had decided to keep a secret from him. She seemed calm, but through her silver hair that fell over her shoulders in disarray, her usual radiance had dimmed as though a portion of her essence had been siphoned away. Noticing his stares, Selene turned to face him. "Do you have something to say to me?" "How about I return that question?" Lucas asked, voice low
Levi held the car door for her, and helped her get in. As the car doors clicked shut, and the engine came alive with Levi behind the wheel, Aria let out a breath. All these while, she had been worried that the witches would catch up with her, but now she was out of harm's way. What excited her more was that she was going to be reunited with Lucas. She was so grateful that Levi appeared right when he did. Lucifer had saved her when he had no reason to. That alone intrigued her. At the thought of how much Lucas hated his father, she made a mental note to tell him the role he had played in making sure that she was safe. She felt that there was more to Lucifer than the evil he was known for, and she was determined to make Lucas see that as well. Her head throbbed with pain from the stress she had undergone earlier. She thought of Selene and her warning against she and Lucas meeting before he healed fully. She hoped she wouldn't interfere this time, because Aria wanted nothing more than to
Aria laid curled up in bed, the quilt soft beneath her, with the muted glow of streetlights seeping through the thin curtains. The night was quiet. She closed her eyes, and let herself drift_reminiscing on the good old days when her life was still meaningful. Back then, though her life wasn't perfect, she at least led a nice life. She had a few friends, and she knew nothing about shape shifters, and the supernatural world as a whole. Her sanity was intact, even though she wasn't getting the best out of life. She was a happy girl... until Lucas came in, and turned her life into a living chaos. With him, she had witnessed firsthand cruelty when Lucas beat up the boys that had tried to snatch her bag. Still with him, she saw what it was like to be loved. He loved her no doubt, and she knew this. She didn't need him to say the words to her_the sacrifices he made, and the pain he had gone through for her sake was enough proof of his love for her.She missed his laughter. The soft, yet f
The rest of the night was a restless one for Lucas. His mind wandered off with thoughts of what or who could've hurt Selene so bad that she retreated for safety. The goddess wasn't the type to run away from battle. She was just like him_resilient, stubborn, strong and powerful. Back when they were still together centuries ago, the two of them were a formidable force. No creature or being dared to take a breath when they were near, and the whole realm lived in fear of them. But now this goddess, whose stares alone was enough to drill a hole into a person's skull, came home wounded and helpless. Lucas knew that whatever or whomever could've done that to Selene, they would be powerful enough to even attempt an attack on him. The thought of Lucifer crossed his mind, but he shrugged it off. Even the devil had a level of fear for the goddess, so there was no way he could've been the perpetrator. It was in this moment that Lucas began to regret all the decisions he had made so far. If he
