LOGINLucas car parked in front of a building. Him and his demon guards got into the elevator and stopped at the 7th floor, then they walked down the row of corridors till they got to a door. Lucas rang the doorbell and waited.
"Master, we could just let ourselves in. Why are we ringing the doorbell?" Levi asked him, and a wicked smile spread on his face, but he shook his head. "Today, we'll be gentlemen. I don't have intentions of hurting them yet; I just want to send a message to Aria." The door opened, and an old woman stood in the frame. "Who are you, gentlemen?" "You must be the housekeeper. I am Lucas, a special friend of Aria, and we came to visit our friends inside." The old lady eyed them suspiciously. She let Lucas in and told the rest to wait outside. As soon as the boys saw him, they began to scream, afraid that he had come to burn them like he promised them. Lucas was amused by their pleadings, and he laughed out softly. The old lady turned to face the smiling Lucas. She became scared and suggested that he left the house. "I'm afraid, I'll have to ask you to leave. The boys are uncomfortable with your presence, and that's not good for their condition." "Of course, I should be on my way now. I'm just glad that they're save and sound, but I'll need you to pass on a message to my dear Aria." He followed the woman to the door. "Tell her that I visited, and that my offer to relieve her of her stress still stands." With that, he left with his guards. The old lady shut the door, and dialed for Aria immediately. "Lucas was there?" Aria screamed out, drawing the attention of the customers. She apologized to them, and dashed out of the shop. "Are you certain he left the building?" Aria asked the housekeeper. "Yeah, but he spoke about some kind of offer that he has made you. What is that about?" "Don't worry about it. I'll fix this." Aria said, and hung up. She redialed for Lucas, and on the second ring he picked up. "I see that someone terribly misses this evil guy. To what do I owe this call?" "I think it's time we had that lunch." Aria said. "Whoa, lovely. Do I pick you up?" "No, tell me where you are. I'll come to you." "It would've been nicer if I came to pick you from work. Don't you think?" "Lucas, if you don't tell me where you are right now, you'll never hear from me again, and you can forget about regaining my friendship." Aria threatened, and hoped that the threats would get to Lucas, and cause him a change of heart. Lucas was quiet for a while. He knew what Aria was playing at, but he liked it. He was amazed to see the length she could reach to protect those boys, and he decided to fall for her games. "I'm at the office, Aria." He said to her finally, and he heard her breathe in and out, probably feeling satisfied that her plans had worked out. A few minutes later, a cab pulled up in front of the company, and Aria got out. She stared at the huge building, and wondered if she should call Lucas again. She was about to dial his number when she saw Levi walking towards her. "He does have eyes everywhere." She muttered to herself, and smiled at the demon coming close to her. "I'm Levi, Lucas personal assistant." He introduced himself to her. "I remember you. You played a huge role in holding me back while your evil boss mauled those boys. How could I possibly forget that face?" Aria replied, still holding a tight smile. Levi chuckled, and led the way. "Well, the evil boss awaits your arrival." Aria followed him into the company, and she was awed at the beauty of place. "Whoa, this place is beautiful." She exclaimed, and Levi smiled. "Wait till you see his office. It's nothing compared to this." "I doubt that guy has any sense of beauty." Aria said, and followed him into an elevator. They got to the top floor, and the elevator stopped. The two stepped out, and Aria heaved a sigh of relief. She had been wondering why they hadn't gotten to Lucas office floor yet, but she was soon to figure that his office was at the topmost floor. Levi led her into Lucas office, and Aria's eyes went wide with surprise. The office was as large as a two bedroom apartment, and it had a wine cellar. The couch was beautiful, and arranged nicely. She looked around her, and saw how sparkling the office was. Levi smiled at her. "I told you." He said to her, and she nodded, still awed. "I guess no one has seen that I'm also in here. The invisible man." Lucas said, trying to get Aria's attention, but she rolled her eyes at him and kept staring at the designs of the large office. Some meters away from the building, a figure stood on the rooftop of a building and watched the two. A smirk appeared on his face as he watched Lucas futile attempt to get the lady's attention. "A hundred years later, my evil son finally falls in love with a human. What an adorable sight."Hell did not burn the way mortals imagined it. There were no endless lakes of fire, no screaming pits lined with writhing bodies begging for mercy. That was a childās understanding of punishment. A crude interpretation of something far more intricate. Hell was⦠deliberate. Alive. Breathing in ways that did not require air. The skyāif it could be called thatāwas not a sky at all, but a fractured expanse of shifting darkness, like glass that had been shattered and rearranged by something with no concept of symmetry. Between those fractures, something glowed faintly, pulsing like veins beneath skinādeep reds, bruised purples, flickers of gold that felt less like light and more like something watching. The ground was worse. It was not solid in the way earth should be. It looked like polished obsidian at first glance, smooth and reflective, but beneath its surface, shadows moved. Not reflectionsāno. Movements. Shapes that twisted and recoiled as though something had been trapped ben
The rain had started sometime before dawn.At first, it was gentleāsoft taps against the window, like someone asking politely to be let in. But as the hours passed, it grew heavier, louder, until it consumed everything. It drowned out the city noise, swallowed the world whole, and wrapped Ariaās apartment in a cocoon of gray. She hadnāt gotten out of bed.Not because she couldnātābut because she didnāt have the strength to.The blanket was pulled up to her chin, her body curled inward as though trying to protect something fragile inside her. Her phone lay beside her, screen dark now, but not long ago it had lit up with Markās name.āHey. Itās pouring. I can pick you up if you want.āHis voice had been warm. Easy. Safe. She had hesitated. For a second too long. Then she remembered. The demon guards.Across the street. Always watching. Always reporting. And more than thatāLucas. The thought of accepting a ride from Mark felt⦠wrong. Not because she owed Lucas anything. Not after the way
Distance, Lucas had learned, was a discipline. Not weakness. Not surrender. But discipline. And he was very, very good at it.******Weeks had passed since the argument. Not resolved. Not forgotten.Just⦠left where it had fallenālike broken glass neither of them wanted to pick up.Aria hadnāt come to him. That, more than anything, was what lingered. She hadnāt come back to explain herself.Hadnāt reached for him the way she used to when something unsettled her.InsteadāShe continued.Living her life.Going to school.Laughing.Smiling.And increasinglyāSpending time with him.She had chosen to spend time with her new found friend, than to come to him.As she should have.******Lucas had not interfered. Not once. Not openly. Not in a way she could see.Because he had made a decision. If she needed himāShe would come. And when she didāHe would be there. As he always was.As he always would be.But that didnāt mean he wasnāt watching. He had instructed the demon guards to watch her
The morning felt⦠different. Not like other mornings when Aria would lay in Lucas's arms, talking about random things. Or the mornings when she'd wait patiently while Lucas made breakfast. This morning was too different.Justāoff.Aria moved quickly around the room, her energy lighter than usual, almost buzzing beneath her skin as she pulled on her shoes and reached for her bag. There was a quiet excitement in her chest she hadnāt felt in a long time.Something simple.Something normal. And she liked it.A lot.āI donāt like it.āLucasās voice cut through the space before she even reached the door.Aria paused, her hand hovering midair before she slowly turned to look at him.He was watching her.Not casually. Not the way he usually didāwith that quiet, steady calm that made everything feel grounded. This was different. His gaze was sharper.More focused.Suspicious.āā¦Donāt like what?ā she asked carefully.āThe way youāre eager to leave.āHer brows pulled together slightly. āIām not
Time had never moved this slowly before.Aria stared blankly at the board, her chin propped against her palm as the instructor went over something she already knewāsomething she had perfected days ago.Measurements. Ratios. Techniques. All of it felt⦠repetitive.Familiar.Too familiar.A quiet yawn slipped past her lips before she could stop it, her eyes watering slightly as she blinked away the heaviness pulling at them.Lack of sleep. That was Lucasās fault. Her lips twitched faintly at the thought. He had been particularly unreasonable the night beforeāpersistent in that calm, unshakable way of his that made it almost impossible to argue.Or leave.Or sleep. She exhaled softly, shifting in her seat before finally giving in, letting her head fall forward onto the desk.Just for a moment.Just to rest her eyes. The faint hum of the classroom blurred around herāvoices, movement, the soft scrape of tools against surfacesāall blending into something distant.Muted.Safe.It was barely
Peace, Aria realized, was a dangerous thing. Not because it was fragileābut because it made you forget. And she had forgotten. Not entirely, not in a way that erased what Selene had said or the weight of it⦠but enough that the sharp edge of it had dulled. Enough that the fear no longer sat in her chest like something alive.Days had passed. Then weeks.Nothing happened. No looming threat. No whispers in the dark. No signs that anything had shifted beneath the surface of their world. And somehow⦠life had continued.Better than continued. It had bloomed.Lucas had a way of making everything feel⦠effortless. He showed up without warning, sometimes with nothing but that quiet, knowing look in his eyesāand other times with things that made no sense coming from someone like him.Flowers. Books. Jewelry he claimed was āinsignificant,ā though Aria was fairly certain entire fortunes had been spent on them. And then there were the days he took her out.Not extravagant in the way that would'
The rest of the night was a restless one for Lucas. His mind wandered off with thoughts of what or who could've hurt Selene so bad that she retreated for safety. The goddess wasn't the type to run away from battle. She was just like him_resilient, stubborn, strong and powerful. Back when they were
Days after Lucifer's visit, Aria stayed restless, day and night. She didn't feel right with the devil's advise, especially after witnessing the hatred Lucas showed towards him when he warned him to back off. But the devil's warning lingered in her mind, and it bothered her. She decided to seek Levi
Lucas stared at her with unseeing eyes. Centuries had passed since he last saw her. In the time when Lucas was feared, and only a whispered name among creatures all over the realm, Selene had backed him. Helping him triumph in every battle he fought. She was his backbone. His then soulmate. But aft
After Lucas disappeared, Aria shuddered in fear, and disbelief. She stared at Levi, unsure of what to say, as the thought that Levi could be the same as Lucas lingered in her head.Levi led her out of the battle scene, and brought her back to her apartment, but she was too scared to let him go."I
