Sitting in front of Elijah’s parents, Adele and Elijah were enjoying dinner. “So, how’s work?” Elijah’s dad, Sam, questioned.

“Well, Adele caught a criminal mastermind.” Elijah smiled, sipping his wine.

“Is it?” Sam smiled, raising his toast.

“Stop talking about work; She is a smart girl, and my son is lucky to have a life partner like her.” Elijah’s mom, Miranda said.

“Thank you.” Adele gifted a thin smile.

Everything looked perfect; she was a successful woman in every aspect of her life. But what was bothering her,

“Oh, I need to bring the desert. Adele, dear, could you please help me?” Miranda smiled. Adele followed her into the kitchen,

Miranda turned and grabbed Adele’s hand gently,

“Is there something bothering you, Adele?”

Her motherly eyes scanned Adele. Adele pressed her lips together; how could she tell what was going on in her mind?
