KELLY POV
The tears streamed down my chin as I hopped into the taxi. I couldn't even stop myself from sobbing like a child.
The driver was stealing glances.
at me, but he couldn't ask if I was okay. This is New York; not everyone is okay with their lives, and a sobbing girl in his taxi shouldn't be his problem.
I wiped the tears trying to figure out what I would say to Holly or Dain. I really hope Holly is alright, because I don't understand why she will let me out of her sight.
Was she drunk too?
Or is it just my fault that I went back to the handsome stranger I met at the bar? I'm such a dumb idiot.
All these wouldn't have happened if I hadn't been drinking like that; my head is pounding and my stomach rumbles loudly enough for the driver to hear.
I didn't have the time to be embarrassed because I was busy reflecting on my actions. "Here." The driver tossed me a chocolate bar, and I grabbed it, tearing it open.
My eyes caught my reflection in the side mirror, and I looked terrible with mascara smeared under my eyes and cheeks. I sighed, taking a bite from the chocolate bar.
I should think about how Holly will react to what I'm going to tell her; I don't think I can keep a secret from my best friend.
Not even this kind of secret; it might come back to bite me in the ass, and I can't have that.
The taxi halted in front of my shitty apartment building; the caretaker refused to redo the painting, and the fading gray paints were starting to fade.
I reached for a couple of notes in my bag and stretched it towards the driver. "Thanks for the chocolate bar; I added money inside too," I said.
"No worries, Miss, you can keep it; you look like you'll be needing it more than n me." He shrugged, and I sighed before hopping out of the taxi.
He thinks I'm a hooker. With my short dress and my ruffled appearance, I really look like one, and crying in his taxi also gave him the impression that I had a bad night.
I headed for my apartment, and I found the door unlocked. A sigh of relief escaped me; this meant Holly is alright except someone broke in.
I shut the door after me and Holly were sitting on the couch eating an apple. We share the apartment together, and she pays half while I pay the rest.
We both also have separate rooms so we can have privacy. It's a cozy little place, but we manage.
"Where the hell did you disappear to last night?" She asked as soon as she saw me, and I didn't have the courage to reply to her immediately.
I went to take a bottle of water from the refrigerator, and I took a long sip. I set it aside before going to take a seat beside her.
"I messed up," I mumbled, sinking my fingers into my hairline. I was so tired and fed up with everything.
"What do you mean? Where were you last night? I looked for you,” she said, and I sighed.
"I had a one-night stand with someone; I swear I didn't mean to cheat on Dain, but I was so drunk and I didn't know who or what I was doing until I woke up this morning,” I confessed.
She didn't say anything for a whole minute, then she started laughing. "Come on, Kel, you are better than this; you should stop making crappy jokes; it's not funny." She laughed, and when she saw the look on my face, she paused.
"Oh. You are serious." She furrowed her brows, and I nodded meekly.
"I was wasted, and I don't even remember what happened," I groaned, resting my back on the couch.
"What do you mean you don't remember what happened? You don't remember how you got out of the club or how you slept with a stranger?" She questioned.
"Jeez, I just said I don't; I don't even remember anything. I was so confused, and I didn't know how I ended up there. I was worried about you," I responded with a tired yawn.
"I guess you had a long night with him then; I can't wait for you to tell me all the e details." She enunciated way too calmly for my liking; I mean, she's supposed to be screaming at me or at least judging me for being so stupid.
"Is everything alright, Holl?" I asked, and she arched her brows.
"Why wouldn't it be?" She asked back, and I got worried about sitting up properly.
"You are not mad at me for making bad choices?"
"Why should I be? You are making it easy for me." She smiled and tossed her half-eaten apple on the floor.
Wait a minute, what is that supposed to mean?
The door to her bedroom opened, and my jaw dropped when Dain walked out with a towel wrapped around his waist. He shut the door behind him and turned; it was truly him.
What is he doing in my best friend's room? With a towel?
"Holly, you need to fix your faucet; it's no longer working." He paused when he saw me, and I glared at him.
"What were you doing in there? I have a bathroom," I stated, and he scoffed.
"What does it look like I was doing in there? I don't need your bathroom when my girlfriend has one," he said and walked up to Holly, then he kissed her.
My boyfriend kissed my best friend in front of me!
What exactly is going on here?
Am I hallucinating or what?
"He's right, he doesn't need your bathroom when he can use mine," Holly smirked, and I stood up.
"What the hell are you talking about?" I demanded angrily.
"Surprise? Are you shocked? You shouldn't be because while you were out there banging someone else, I was busy with Dain. We had a wonderful time just like always," she giggled.
Like always?
This is a joke, right?
I turned to Dain, and he was staring at me with a look of disgust on his face.
"This is a joke, right? Please tell me you haven't been sleeping with her behind my back," I pleaded as tears filled my eyes; my chest was becoming stuffy and I couldn't breathe properly.
"And if I say that I was? Is that what you want—the truth? Yes, I have, and I'm in love with her, babe." He mocked, and I sniffed.
"It's over between us; I regret ever knowing the both of you," I glared at Holly.
"I hope you have a good life with him." I grabbed my purse and veered, but Dain stood in the way, obstructing me from going to the door.
"Not so fast, Kelly!" Holly said from behind me, and I gasped as I felt cold steel on my back.
Is that a knife?
"Sit down, let's have a little chat," she ordered.
Kelly's POV “ Pardon?”. I muttered, feigning lack of understanding.Camille smiled and took a sip to get coffee.“Tell me exactly what Mrs Cathe discussed with you, Kelly? Words for words.”“Pardon?” I muttered again, pretending not to understand what she meant.Camille leaned forward, her eyes sharp with curiosity. She toyed with the cup of coffee in her hands, a mischievous smile playing across her face. A part of me wanted to trust her but Alez’s words made me reconsider my choice.“Kelly, don’t play dumb with me. You know what I am talking about and asking from you. Just Tell me exactly what Mrs. Cathe said to you. Word for word. I want to know the big secret.”I shifted in my seat, my hand tightening around my cup. “Camille, there's nothing important to discuss. We didn't really discuss anything serious and you know Mrs. Cathe. Some conversations are just better left private. Mrs. Cathe trusts me, and I don’t want to betray that. He probably doesn't want anyone to hear of this.”
Kelly's POV “Make sure to change her napkins regularly. “ I instructed Nanny Mel.Daniella had gone out to meet you with a friend thus the nanny had to take care of Ivy. Based on my own preference, I would never let any stranger babysit or care for Ivy except for Daniella.“Yes ma'am. I'll do just that.”Nanny Mel held Ivy in her arms, rocking her gently while she whimpered softly.I kissed Ivy’s cheek before leaving, her soft giggle warming my heart. “Mommy will be back soon, okay?” I whispered.“Momma? Mummy?.” Ivy went on smiling and showing off her entrenched dimple.Stepping out, the fresh air brushed my face as I got into the car, driving myself out of the castle while headed to Delökreés café. I was so excited to meet with Camille. It had been a long time since I chatted with a friend off work and meeting her at a café made me anticipatory for whatever topic she wanted to discuss. The drive to the cafeé felt short and smooth. No traffic and bi stress. Maybe this was because I
Kelly's POV Honestly, I was overjoyed to see how happy Alex was for my achievement.“Congratulations baby, you hit the jackpot.” he said, his eyes glowing with pride. I smiled shyly, my cheeks heating. “Thank you, Bae but it’s not just my win, alone, it’s ours. You have always been my biggest support.” He cupped my face gently. “And I always will be, Kelly. You deserve the world. You and Ivy deserve all the world.”Daniella grinned from across the table, raising her glass. “To Kelly, our superstar! Who isn't just a mother and a model but a celebrity whose fame won't be short-lived."Ivy clapped her little hands, giggling like she understood the moment. My eyes filled with happy tears. At that instant, I felt whole, like nothing was missing in my life. Like all my life's goals had been met. My dreams are now a reality.Alex reached for my hand under the table and squeezed it warmly. “We’ll walk this journey together, sugar pie,” he whispered. Daniella’s eyes softened, her smile pr
Kelly’s POV “Maybe a vacation to Hawaii or Paris? Ivy loves coconut juice and there are a lot of fresh ones in Hawaii. What do you think, Danielle?”. I asked Daniella as I scooped some carbonara into Alex's plate.Daniella smiled thoughtfully, resting her chin on her palm for a while before she laid out the wine glasses on the table.“Hawaii sounds like a dream. It's a good place to go. Ivy would definitely love it. My goddaughter has such good taste like me. The beaches, the sun, and yes, the coconut juice too. Everything feels like paradise on earth.” she said with a soft chuckle. “But Paris is magical as well… she might enjoy sightseeing the Eiffel Tower and the cute cafés and the French vibes hit differently.”Alex looked up from his plate, a small smile forming on his lips. “You both seem to have already packed your bags in your minds,” he teased and chuckled again.“But Hawaii doesn’t sound bad. I’ve always wanted to visit the islands. You know, a week in a tropical region. The
Kelly's POV My bestie “A warm welcome for the most beautiful Mom and model in town. “ Daniella squeaked the moment I walked into the house after a long day in Mrs Cathe’s office.I laughed tiredly, dropping my bag on the couch. “Daniella, please don’t start with your drama today. I am really exhausted. Bed!! Bed!!! I need a bed to loosen and relax. Today has been both stressful and fruitful..”She rushed over and hugged me tight. “Oh, don’t act too humble, Kelly. You’re the new hot cake! The trend. Everyone’s talking about you. Allow me to admire such a talent, your Majesty. I have to tell you the truth, Kelly. You are a superstar.”Before I could reply, I heard a soft giggle. Ivy’s giggle filled the room. She crawled into my arm as I swept her off the ground. Her tiny hands reached for my face while slightly pulling at my hair.“Daniella winked. “See? Even your god-daughter agrees. Right Ivy?”. I kissed Ivy’s soft cheek and sighed, my tiredness melting a little at her sweet laugh
Kelly's POV “I'll get back to you when I need to, Mrs Kelly. All I need is a hot shower and a body massage.” Mrs Cathe grinned. She patted my shoulder. Finn had come already to pick me up and was waiting in the car.I smiled, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. The exhaustion of the fashion show was starting to catch up with me and I was beginning to be really famished.“Of course Mrs Cathe. Thank you for being awesome and supportive of me as always.” I smiled while thanking Mrs Cathe for her guidance and support. As I walked out of the venue, Finn's familiar face greeted me from the car. I slipped into the passenger seat, letting out a contented sigh. The mere thought of a hot shower and a relaxing massage made my body tingle. That was just what I needed. A really hot shower and some whiskey for a celebratory moment.I leaned back, closing my eyes while I let Finn drive me home, the stress of the day slowly melting away. "Take me home, Finn," I murmured, smiling softly.“Yes
