ADESSA.

I went to my office after I signed our divorce paper. I knew I should go, but I had many things in my hand that I didn’t want to leave without giving instructions about them.

I took my time to write the next step and the necessary confirmations for each matter I personally handled while he was in a coma. I knew I could tell him directly, but I didn’t want to see him anymore.

I spent my whole day in my office, just waiting for someone to kick me out of the house, but it never came. So I also took the chance to make some calls to find a small apartment where I could go after I left this house.

Kael didn’t say anything about when I should go, but I was planning to stay at least until tonight and leave before dawn.

I didn’t want anyone to see me leaving.

Fortunately, no one disturbed me in my office. It was already nine o’clock in the evening when I finished all of the things I had prepared for him and his pack. I didn’t have lunch and dinner, and by the time I was already in bed, my stomach was growling from hunger.

It was almost midnight, and I was sure the whole house was already sleeping.

I had no idea if Desiree was here, as I didn’t meet anyone after my encounter with Kael. But my woman instinct was telling me she was because Kael was already free of me. So, there was nothing stopping them from being together anymore.

I shoved my blanket and rose from the bed. As much as I didn’t want to leave my room, my hunger wouldn’t let me sleep.

I carefully walked the corridor, hoping I wouldn’t meet anyone, when I heard footsteps by the stairs and something bumping against the wall.

I remained frozen in my spot, expecting the worst. What if it was them? Wrapped up in each other’s arms, kissing each other? I was sure that was possible because, in many instances, Kael carried me in his arms from the ground floor to our room while we devoured each other’s mouths.

I was still contemplating if I should turn around when Kael finally came into view.

He was alone.

And on the way his body was bumping and pressing on the wall, I could tell he was drunk. He drinks occasionally, but not so heavily as this.

“Adessa!” He exclaimed when he saw me.

“Kael.”

“I thought you left.”

“I am leaving tomorrow.”

“Sssh… Nonsense. This house is too big. Stay.”

My eyebrows raised as I watched him approach me. I had never seen him this drunk, so I had no idea how he usually acted in this condition.

“I have a big problem,” he said as he stopped in front of me.  “I have two women in my house, and I’m only one. Imagine that, two!”

He raised his hand and showed me three fingers before he chuckled. “Oh fuck, I don’t know how to count anymore.”

“Kael, you’re drunk. Go to bed.”

“Tell me, my beautiful wife. Did I drink while we were together?”

Ì nodded. “But not as drunk as you are now.”

“Hmmm, does it mean I never had problems while I was with you?”

“Maybe…”

“I only drink hard when I don’t know what to do with my life.”

“You should go to bed. It’s late.” My eyes pooled with tears. If what he was saying was true, then at least I knew I never gave him a problem until now.

“Are you not going to scold me? A wife does that when their husband drinks too much.”

“Kael, I’m not your wife anymore.”

“Says who?”

“I’ll take you to your room,” I told him. This act he was playing was just breaking my heart.

“Sssh… Desiree is in my room.” He put his finger on his lips, telling me to be quiet.

My forehead creased. There was no way I would voluntarily return Kael to her, so instead, I made a detour and took him to one of the guestrooms at the farthest end of the second floor. The same floor of the room I was occupying.

“♫🎜What day is it? And in what month? This clock never seemed so alive…🎝♬”

Kael was singing while we walked through the corridor and into the room. I couldn’t help smiling, yet my eyes were getting misty.

I would miss this. I’d miss the way he’d sing at me whenever I was upset with him. It was his way of making me laugh because, for the life of me, he couldn’t carry a tune.

“♫🎜And it’s you and me and all of the people. And I don’t know why I can’t keep my eyes off of you. 🎜🎝”

I lowered his body onto the bed, but his arm snaked around my waist so that he was able to take me with him, and I landed on top of him.

“Kael…” My voice came out throaty as my heart thudded loudly. It had been over a month since we became intimate, and with the situation we were in, I had no idea why the thought of sleeping with him crossed my mind.

I should learn to forget him. I should move on.

But maybe for tonight, I will let my eyes devour him. He was still singing with his eyes closed, and both his arms were now holding my body closer to him.

My hands on his chest were my leverage, so I could keep staring at him, trying to memorize his features.

All of a sudden, his eyes snapped open, and then he stopped singing. His hand on my waist moved up to cup the nape of my neck, and before I could think straight, he had already pushed my head closer.

Our mouths crashed against each other.

I still remember what happened as if it were just yesterday. On the night of my eighteenth birthday, I accompanied my half-sister to a festival. A chaos erupted, and we tried to run away. People were shouting, and then the stampede happened. We got separated, and the next thing I knew, I was in the middle of the swaying crowd, being pushed by everyone who wanted to get away from that place.I stumbled and gripped the arm that was nearest to me. I felt the spark travel all over my body, activating

  • THE FORGOTTEN LUNA   Epilogue Part 2

ADESSA.I stopped halfway through the altar, where my parents were waiting for me. Mom looked beautiful in her golden gown with black accents. Even without a title, she looked regal, and the love shining in her eyes was enough to make her stand out. I held on to my parents, and we began walking forward. A coy smile played on my lips as I began teasing my father. “Father, you are not allowed to cry.” No matter how he kept his face with a poker expression, his eyes betrayed his real emotions. “I have five sons, and never did I imagine I would one day walk a daughter to the altar.” He spoke in a hushed tone.“I made so many of your dreams come true, didn’t I?” I kept teasing him. It was the only way I could keep myself from crying.“Yes, you did. You and your mother did. And I’m grateful for that every day.”That left me speechless. I was told my father was not the one who shares his emotions and thoughts with anyone, but that was exactly what he was doing. Love indeed could change us

  • THE FORGOTTEN LUNA   Epilogue Part 1

ADESSA.I stood before the massive double door of the Royal Cathedral, waiting for it to open to welcome me inside the church, where Kael, my fated mate, waited for me. I couldn’t help the tears welling up in my eyes. We’d finally come to this. A wedding. And it was as grand as anyone could imagine. Our first wedding was simple. Only a few guests were invited, and all of them were related to Kael. I had no one on my side—no family, no friends. But this time, I had the presence of every important person in my life.My mother and father had already walked ahead and would wait for me halfway through the aisle. Lacey, my beautiful niece, was my flower girl. She walked alongside Landon, as she refused to walk down on her own during rehearsals. Gabe was our ring bearer. He was here with his grandmother, Erika, but his mother, Sasha, was not invited. I was glad that Erika didn’t question us when we asked for permission for her and Gabe to be part of our celebration. To be honest, I was

ADESSA.He nodded, and he pointed to something behind me. I swiftly turned around and found myself looking at a wooden post with a wooden sign: ADESSA’S RIVER. “For some people who will come to visit here, this will be just another name to identify this beautiful place. But to me, where the sign stood was the exact place where I first saw you. I don’t want to forget about it even if decades have passed by.”I turned around again to face him, my tears trickling down my cheeks. “It’s beautiful…”“It is. But not as beautiful as the woman standing there and standing before me now.” “Kael…”“The day I asked you to marry me to save my ego, I thought I was doing more for you. I thought I was saving you from a hard life. I thought I was making sure you would never go hungry again. I didn’t know it was me that needed saving—not just from my dying heart, but from my life with no direction. Thank you for accepting my offer, Adessa. I haven’t thanked you enough for taking a risk on me. For givin

  • THE FORGOTTEN LUNA   Chapter 164

ADESSA..“Are you sure that’s what you really want?” Kael asked me again after we disconnected the phone. It was my father on the other line, and I told him I wanted Miranda to be set free. But she had a condition to never step foot in Ironcrest again or anywhere near me and my family.I knew it was a big risk, but the weeks that she was incarcerated with days where no food was given to her, plus the lashes she got at the beginning, should be enough for her to learn her lesson. I knew I could give her more if I wanted to, and my father would not question it. But I had my reasons. It also didn’t mean that she could leave free forever, as I had requested someone to watch her. In a way, perhaps we would find Dexter, and we could have answers to the questions that have been hanging in the air regarding why he turned his back on his Alpha and the extent of his involvement with Miranda. Only the Goddess knew what the future held for all of us, but at the moment, I knew this was the right

  • THE FORGOTTEN LUNA   Chapter 163

ADESSA. My tears fell as she approached me and handed me the flowers. Then she cupped my hands before she looked me straight in the eye. “We were saddened when we heard that you left the territory. We couldn’t understand why you and the Alpha parted ways when we thought you had a perfect life together…”I didn’t know many of them felt that way about us. I thought I was never wanted. But I couldn’t find my voice to ask more about it.“We are glad that despite being a princess, the Alpha was able to take you back. And I hope that you still want to be our Luna.”I couldn’t stop my tears from falling anymore, and despite the many things I wanted to say, I was at a loss for words. So I kept nodding my head. “Welcome home, Luna Adessa.”I snaked my arms around her and hugged her as I whispered. “I’m happy to be home.”I meant to say it to her alone, but the crowd heard it as they began chanting again, welcoming me home before applause rang out in the air once more. Soon, more females and
