Daimon pulled me forward, our bodies nearly pressed together. In one effortless movement, he lifted me, holding me with ease. My heart raced. I grabbed what I needed, and he slowly lowered me back down, unhurried, keeping me right in front of him. His earthy eyes, half-lidded, studied me with careful attention. There was something there—a silent interest, as if he were trying to figure out exactly what I was.
