Chapter 4: Who & Daniel

-

When Darius and Amoy walked down the stairs all eyes went on them, making her family frown, Amoy wore a beautiful silver knee-length dress that stuck to her skin, her lips were red as usual, her hair was in an afro showing off her beautiful hair, face and smile.

"Amoy, darling you look ravishing." One of her friends and coworker, Zane greeted her as they reached the bottom of the stairs, his eyes trailed her body shamelessly. "Darius." Her husband nod in acknowledgement.

"Thank you, Zane." She gave him a tight smile.

"Can we talk somewhere private?" They both could hear the suggestiveness in his tone, Amoy shook her head.

"Later, excuse us." It was no secret that Zane and Amoy were sleeping together, well only Darius knew, it didn't bother him in fact he was fine with it.

"Shawn told me this challenge is about business, he also said we should try and secure partnerships, stay beside me but don't say a single word." He nods following her towards a couple.

"Regina, David nice to see you both here, how were your travels?." They turned to Amoy smiling.

"Amazing, thank you for asking, who's this?" Regina asked looking at Darius with a bright smile.

"My husband, Darius, I heard you started a new business?" The woman eyes trailed Darius body making him raise his eyebrow slightly but she turned back to Amoy her smile dimming.

"Yes, it..." And the conversation continued, but when it was finished Amoy had secured a deal.

"That went well." He said.

"No talking." A sigh left him as he kept quiet.

"Daniel?" A woman questions, Darius and Amoy turned to her, confused.

"I'm Darius." The woman frowns, her blonde hair fell against her shoulders, her eyes were a shocking green it was like nothing he had ever seen before, her dress matched her eyes, it complimented her warn skin, he had to admit she was beautiful, she looked disappointed but not shocked at his response.

"My bad, you look so much like a man I know, enjoy your night." He moved to stop the woman but William appeared.

"You both look great. Why the faces?"

"Do you know that woman?" William turned her way shaking his head as he faced them once again, Darius could tell he was lying, but why, was the question "Amoy, I need to show your father something, will you be fine without me?" She nods not giving them a single glance as she walked off.

"What are you going to show me?" William asked taking two glasses of champagne handing one to Darius.

"You know the woman, don't you?" He sighs looking around like someone was watching him.

"Yes, I know her."

"She called me Daniel, do you know why?" He shrugs sipping his drink.

"No, I don't. Go help Amoy." Even though Darius knew he was trying to change the topic, he smiled deciding to ignore the topic for now.

"I doubt I'd be much help, she just wants me to stay quiet and be the perfect husband." William chuckles patting his back.

"That's my daughter for you, she'll warm up to you eventually, excuse me I need to mingle." Darius nods watching him leave, his eyes moved to Amoy.

The woman stood with confidence, but it wasn't the type of confidence that made people second guess their self it was the type of confidence that made you feel comfortable, at home.

Amoy turned to Darius making a gesture for him to come which he did without a word. "This is my husband, Darius." She introduced him with a smile.

The man she was talking to held out his hand, Darius shook it with slight hesitation. "Nice to meet you...?"

"Chris, Chris Black." He told him just as his phone rang. "Excuse me, I have to take this, Amoy we'll discuss business later enjoy your evening." They watched the man walk outside answering his phone.

"That wasn't bad," Amoy said.

"Was that some sort of compliment?" He asked smiling but the frown she gave him wiped it off his face.

"I think you're getting too comfortable with me, Darius this is just a business deal and I intend to keep it that way, so if you think me being kind to you-smile." He did feeling a few eyes on them. "If you think me being kind to you, means we have some sort of friendship, you're mistaken, this is all for show, appearance is everything in this world." He nods.

"I know."

For a second he thought this woman was different from her family but she was a wolf in sheep clothing, a dangerous one too, he thought he was finally warming up to her but anytime they came close to a real friendship she'd always push him away.

"Good, come on we should meet some more people if I ought to win this challenge." He followed her lead like he always did.

-

It was much later in the evening, Elizabeth had entered the room a few minutes ago, she was currently greeting everyone with a smile, Darius was shocked, to say the least, he had never seen the woman smile, but when she did, she seemed much more approachable, she actually seemed nice.

Amoy was talking to everyone trying to secure business deals most were successful, Darius was sure she had gotten more than the rest as he had barely seen them move from their chairs.

"Have a wonderful, Ms Wilison." She told the old woman with a smile. "That's the 10th deal, I'm sure I'm in the lead." Darius didn't say anything as he looked around, he had seen the woman who had called him 'Daniel' talking to William a few times, which made him even more curious.

"What are you looking for?" Amoy asked looking around just as the woman came into view again.

"It's nothing, excuse me." She stopped him from leaving by asking.

"Where are you going?" For a woman who said their relationship was just a business deal, she seemed to want him around, he thought.

"I'm going for or a glass of water." He told her following the woman outside where all the cars were, she was on her phone texting, someone.

"Hello." He greeted making her jump in surprise. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to startle you." She shook her head.

"It's fine, can I help you with something?" He nods.

"You can answer this question. Who is Daniel?"

    - Chapter 28: Eat & Code - Darius's P.O.V When we got home Amoy immediately went upstairs while speaking to someone on the phone. “How long has she been like that?” Xavier asked as he entered the room. “The entire car ride over. Do you think the news will blow over?” He shrugged letting out a sigh. “I’m not sure. Maybe.” The uncertainty in his voice told me this would probably go on for weeks. “Did you make breakfast? She hasn’t eaten all day.” He shook his head. “I was just about to go out and meet a friend, but I can—” I stopped him as I offered him a smile.

    - Chapter 27: Headline & Drained - Darius P.O.V I woke up the next day with arms around my body, I smiled down at Amoy who slept peacefully beside me. This was probably the first time I’ve seen her so relaxed besides last night. I reached for my phone to check the time. It was 7 AM, shocking me. Amoy was usually up before 5 or 6, I wondered how long she stayed out on the balcony. I slowly and quietly removed her hands off me, replacing my body with a pillow before going into the bathroom, taking a shower and brushing my teeth. I was in the bathroom for a good 15 minutes

  • THE INHERITORS   Chapter 26: Favour & Tip

    - Chapter 26: Favour & Tip - Darius's P.O.V Dinner went on without a hitch, I was a little surprised Elizabeth hadn't tried to insult me or Amoy. Maybe the discovery of her most prized grandchild's company going bankrupt left her more flush than she was willing to admit. I silently watched as everyone gathered around the piano watching Olivia play a sweet melody. She was also another one of Amoy's competitors, I only knew so little of her, though her parents, Joseph and Kayla never stopped bragging about her fashion business. They said she dressed celebrities like Rihanna and Taylor. I had to admit though I barely spoke to her, she seemed down to earth and friendly, I mean in this family someone who didn't speak to you was as friendly as you could get. My eyes went to the rest of my wife's competition. Zavana stood next to O

    - Chapter 25: Guess & Useless - Darius zipped his suitcase close, before bringing it downstairs where Amoy, William and Xavier were engaged in a conversation, but they all turned to him, hearing his footsteps and his suitcase against the stairs. “Good morning.” He greeted them tiredly, they all responded. Amoy’s eyes lingered on him for a second before returning her attention to her father. “That’s what this whole trip is about? Who told you this?” Amoy interrogated her father, he didn’t seem to mind as he spoke. “Shawn, the butler.” “So the men will be tested for 4 days?” He nodded, catching Darius’s attention, “What’s goin

    - Chapter 24: No & Thoughts - Darius sat in his chair, still not knowing what to write; it was as if he had all the words but couldn’t put them into words. He had promised himself that today was the day he was gonna finally put his hands and mind to work and write something good that he could be proud of, even though it wouldn't be his best work, it would be something to remember. Closing his eyes thought of every possible line he could begin with, but they all just didn’t seem to be enough. He sighed, hearing a knock on his door, he expected to see Xavier, but instead, Amoy entered his room, with a tray with dinner on it. “This is the last thing I expected you’d be doing,” Darius stated as she placed the tray on his

    - Chapter 23: Space & Daniel - It was the next day, Darius was growing nervous about what today had in store for him...what she had in store for him. After the kitchen incident, they had both parted ways but Amoy had never left his mind. She was like a hangover after a party.
