Not Worthy

The words echoed in my ears like a cruel curse.

She is not worthy to be my Luna…

…not worthy to be the mother of my child.

For a moment, I forgot how to breathe.

My entire body went cold, as if all the warmth inside me had been drained in an instant. I stood frozen at the doorway, my fingers clutching the pregnancy report so tightly that the paper crumpled beneath my grip.

Not worthy…

Not worthy to be his Luna.

Not worthy to carry his child.

A bitter taste rose in my throat.

Someone inside suddenly turned toward the entrance. “Oh—look who’s here.”

That single sentence shattered the fragile stillness. Heads turned one after another, their gazes landing on me like sharp blades.

The laughter didn’t stop.

If anything, it grew louder.

“Well, well,” one woman said mockingly, crossing her arms as she looked me up and down. “Speak of the rogue, and she appears.”

Another man chuckled.

“Didn’t expect you to show up tonight. Or did you come chasing after Alpha Kael again?”

More laughter followed.

My feet refused to move.

I wanted to run.

But I couldn’t.

It was as if invisible chains had wrapped tightly around my body, locking me in place.

Selene’s eyes met mine across the room.

For a brief second, surprise flickered in her gaze.

Then slowly… deliberately… her lips curled into a smug smile. She leaned closer to Kael, her body pressing against his arm as if claiming him in front of me.

“Kael,” she said sweetly, loud enough for everyone to hear, “look… your wife is here.”

The word wife dripped with mockery.

All eyes shifted back to him.

Waiting.

Watching.

Expecting.

My heart pounded painfully inside my chest.

Say something…

Please…

Just once… defend me.

Kael finally lifted his gaze.

Our eyes met.

For three long years, I had memorized every detail of that cold, handsome face.

The sharp line of his jaw.

The deep, emotionless darkness of his eyes.

The same eyes that had once made my heart race with love… now looked at me as if I were nothing more than an inconvenience.

Not warmth.

Not concerned.

Not even anger.

Just indifference.

Pure, cutting indifference.

That hurt more than anything else.

Someone nearby snorted.

“Still sticking around, huh? I swear, this rogue has no shame.”

“She chased Alpha Kael back then, didn’t she?”

“Of course she did. A wolfless rogue marrying an Alpha? She must’ve used every trick she had.”

Laughter exploded again.

Each word stabbed deeper than the last.

I lowered my gaze slightly, unable to bear their looks any longer.

They weren’t wrong.

Back then… I had chased after him.

I had clung to him like a lifeline, believing that if I loved him enough… if I tried hard enough… he would one day love me back.

Because of my low status…

Because I was a wolfless rogue…

I had always been excluded.

Ignored.

Looked down upon.

Even after becoming his wife, nothing changed.

In this marriage, I had always been the one lowering my head… pleasing him… waiting for his attention like a beggar waiting for scraps.

And yet He had never loved me.

Not even once.

My hand slowly moved to my stomach.

A faint, trembling smile appeared on my lips despite the pain burning in my chest.

But now… it’s different.

I’m pregnant.

He wants an heir… doesn’t he?

Hope flickered weakly inside me like a dying candle.

Maybe…

Maybe if he knew…

Maybe this child would change his mind.

Maybe he would finally see me.

With trembling fingers, I lifted the crumpled report slightly, preparing to step forward.

But before I could speak—

Selene laughed softly.

“Oh Kael,” she said, her voice playful yet sharp. “You really married her just to produce strong offspring, didn’t you?”

A few people leaned closer, clearly eager to hear his answer again.

Kael didn’t hesitate.

“Yes.”

The word fell coldly into the room.

My breath caught painfully.

He leaned back lazily, his gaze drifting toward me once more.

“That rogue…” he repeated, his voice filled with open disdain.

“She should learn her place.”

A murmur of agreement spread across the crowd.

My fingers trembled violently.

“She is not worthy,” he continued coldly, “to stand beside me as Luna.”

The last fragile piece of hope inside me shattered.

Silently. Completely.

And in that moment…

I finally understood.

The pregnancy I had been so excited about…

The child I believed would bring us clo

ser…

Meant nothing to him.

Nothing at all.

My chest tightened painfully, making it hard to breathe.

I couldn’t stay here any longer.

Not for another second.

Without saying a word I turned and ran.

You watched me leave, and you didn't come looking for me until you discovered I was carrying your child."Kael flinched."Now you're standing in front of me again, telling me that strangers want to take me away because of a secret you somehow know about."She shook her head."Why should I trust anything you say?""You shouldn't have to trust me blindly."The answer surprised her.Kael continued."I know what I've done to you.
