~VAELOR~

She didn’t respond, even though I wished desperately that she would say something, anything to give me even the slightest flicker of hope.

But her lips remained sealed.

I laughed at myself for even hoping in the slightest. I looked at her closely, only then did I notice that her lips were trembling.

I stepped forward again, gently gathering her into my arms. I stroked her hair gently, enjoying how the soft texture of it felt against my hand.

“Vie… I don’t know what you heard, but it is

~Vixen~Almost all the guests had arrived.Except me, the supposed star of the night.I couldn't bring myself to enter the hall, not now.Instead I left the corridors, standing alongside the guards at the entrance of the hall. The guards bowed.“Should we announce your presence Lun– Lady Vixen?” The guard at the left side of the door asked.“No, thank you. I'll stay here for a while.”The guard at the right, standing beside me, took a quick glance at my feet before looking up. “Should I get you a chair, Lady Vixen?”“I won't stand here for long. I'm just stalling for a short time.”I was stalling so Nathan would have time to get back in the hall before Kael proposed. As the two guards focused on their duty, I couldn't help but feel like their faces were familiar.I know they guarded the pack house, but it felt like I've seen them elsewhere, not within Pure Moon. For some odd reason they reminded a lot of the guards at Blackthorn.I brushed it off, accessing what was happening inside t

~Kael~The banquet was in full swing, the melody of the live orchestra resonating through the hall.As expected there were many guests, the press taking coverage of the event. And standing in the midst of it all was me, Alpha Kael of Pure Moon Pack, the one who pulled all these dignitaries together.I inhaled proudly as I took a glance around.Tonight all these officials would eventually want to form an alliance with me. With Vixen by my side, they'll stop looking down on me, and see my greatness. But first Vixen needed to be in this hall for that to happen. My hands tightened around the champagne glass as I took another glance around the hall.Where in the world was she?I was beginning to get impatient.I literally begged her to use the Luna's suite for her preparation so I could keep an eye on her movements, but no, she had to stay in the guest suite.I didn't know what was so important about the guest suite. Now I couldn't find her anywhere. With my smile still intact as I walked

~Vixen~According to the invitation card, the banquet ought to have started. And yet I was yet to make final touches to my makeup.Kael had pleaded for me to use the Luna's suite to prepare for tonight. He even offered servants and make-up artists to help me get ready. But I turned them all down.I needed time alone in a place I considered safe.It was the day to carry out the final phase of my well thought plan.I've sacrificed resources, my precious time and my health for this.I've endured stress from both pregnancy and Pure Moon Pack.Tonight it will all come to an end.“We're finally doing this,” Emmie chimed in, excitement dripping in her tone.“Indeed, we are.”Kael was about to find out that we hold grudges for a long time.I dropped my highlighter brush, staring at my flawless make-up in the mirror.“Just a few hours more, Vixen. A few more and all this will be over.”I've moved my assets, secured my company and made contingency plans. All employees were already on their way

~Vaelor~The door of my study opened abruptly, without me giving any permission.I concentrated on the blueprint of the pack house, unbothered about the intruder. The dragging of feet against the floor board and the constant flipping of books made me irritated.“Why are you here?”He scoffed. “Why am I here? This is my bloody Pack, I can be wherever I want.”My eyes were still on the blueprint. “Not in this cottage.”“You may be a Blackthorn, but I'm also a Valkar. My territory, my rules.”Tired of his presence, I lifted my head to Ravan, noticing his now blonde hair.He dyed it.This was way out of character for a Valkar.“Michela won't notice you because of this,” I plainly told him.“I never did this for her,” he quickly countered. “This is a personal choice.”It was my turn to scoff.“What exactly are you doing here?”He spread his arms wide, gesturing around the room. “As I said before, this is my territory.”“I sold my mineral rights for this.”“Doesn't dispute the fact that thi

~Vaelor~Kael was in high spirits. His humming and twirling proved that.He was so happy that his plans were all coming together. His overconfidence blinded him from seeing the ticking time bomb underneath his nose.He has placed all his eggs on one basket, pinning his hopes and aspirations on the proposal with Vie, and that was the greatest mistake he made.He was depleting almost the entire pack's fund and inviting several Alphas. He was setting the stage for bankruptcy and being made a public spectacle.Vie's transfer would crush him beyond any room for repair. As much as watching him made my jaw tick, my hand tightening against the cold stone beside his window.I had to remind myself that he's the key piece for Vie's victory tomorrow. He needed to be present for the banquet. It was hard seeing him so close while my hands itched to choke his neck.I passed by his window, heading to the main reason I came here. The entire pack house buzzed with excitement. Servants hurried through h

~Vixen~I couldn't believe Kael edited our pictures and placed them on the banquet banner. He also did the same on the invitation card.He made it seem we were actually together and the banquet was a joint idea.He was using my influence to draw in affluent guests.Under normal circumstances I'd have flamed up and demanded a retraction, but I decided to play dumb.Who am I to stop the whole kingdom from watching his downfall? He thought he was building alliances, but instead he was inviting spectators to witness his destruction. The ringing of a door bell echoed through the silent night.I looked at the time on my laptop.9:55pmIt was just mere hours to the banquet and I still had a lot of work to complete.I specifically gave the order that I wanted to be alone tonight, so it definitely couldn't be Nathan. The doorbell rang again.Stifling a groan, I reluctantly stood up, going towards the door. The security door monitor I had Nathan install showed it was a servant. Why would a serv
