The room was oppressively quiet as the shadows closed in, their forms moving like smoke yet filled with danger. The air seemed to hum with an alien energy, thick and choking. Aiden’s fingers tightened around the bright shard in his hand, its throbbing light the only comfort in the darkness.

A voice, deep and powerful, broke the quiet. “Only the worthy may pass.”

The shadows shifted, merging into a single person at the chamber's center. Its outline hardened, showing a huge wolf-like creature with bright crimson eyes and broken, black fur that shimmered like obsidian. Its voice rumbled like faraway thunder. “Prove your strength, resolve, and heart, or face annihilation.”

Aiden stepped forward without reluctance. “We’re here for Iris. Whatever test you have, I’ll take it.”

Lucian grabbed his arm. “Are you insane? This isn’t just a fight—it’s a death sentence.”

Aiden shook him off, his eyes locked on the thing. “If Iris went through this, so can I.”
