Chapter 6

Seth's POV

I know that it's a lot for her to leave everything behind and follow me but she doesn't have a choice. This is a dangerous territory and the more time she stays here the more harm her enemies would incur on her and her innocent son.

It baffles me that he looks just like my late mother but she doesn't know and I don't intend to tell her.

“I would ask you a question and I want an answer immediately. Don't fucking test my patience. I'll pull this trigger once you lie to me.” I wanted confirmation that he was her child and not a nanny to the young lad she was carrying on her shoulders.

“What is this all about?” She asked, turning her eyes around.

“Is he your son?” I asked her, but she hesitated to answer. Three rounds left in my gun, I shot one in the hair and pointed next to her forehead.

“Fine, he's my son. His name is Alexander. Does it settle your curiosity?” I didn't respond to her question, I opened the door for her to get in.

She dropped her son in the backseat and got to sit beside me. I knew she wanted her son to have all the comfort he could get.

“I don't think this is the right idea. That bar has been my source of peace and happiness. What am I without that bar? Who's going to run it like I do while I'm away?” She complained bitterly, it was evident through the tone of her voice.

“You have workers I guess.”

“Workers indeed. What if those men come looking for me and I'm not there? They could kill everyone in the bar.” Roselle lamented, running her hands through her hair.

“Yeah you're right, but a few of them dying isn't going to change the fact that you're an enemy to them, trust me they're hunting you.” I tried to make her calm since my son is

“It should be the other way around.”

“When you challenge someone in his territory, you've carved your name in their mind never to be forgotten.” I made it clear to her because she had to know. Staying back would mean war and that we don't have the time and weaponry for.

“I challenged no one, they came at me. Do you expect me to be defenseless or watch them take what's mine?” Roselle was bold, I liked that about her. She wasn't scared of anyone, she knew her way around a man's tool. Guns are meant for men, while knives are meant for women but I'm certain she's skilled at both.

“They would have taken your son and made you an epitome of mockery. You should be glad I saved you.” I chuckled softly keeping my eyes glued to the road, although I was stealing glances at her.

“I'm doing this for the sake of peace and I hate being forced.” She had her life placed in my palms, I'm a total stranger to her but I saved her from those men. No matter how skilled she is, once one of them gets a hold of her son, she's vulnerable and unable to do anything.

“Your son's asleep. Quit nagging, we're going to get to Italy and all this would be an aftermath.”

“I don't think there's an aftermath close. There's a roadblock ahead.” She mentioned, I knew following another route might get these bikers to start chasing us and I have just two bullets.

“Do you have an idea who they are?”

“Local bike gangs, just like the ones we met at the bar. They're just five men and how many bullets do you have left?” She ended her response with a question I didn't want to answer.

“I have two bullets.”

“You're going without your gun and if you can't talk to them, use a man as a shield against those bullets and don't forget to use your fists.” I wondered why she was speaking to me as if I was a child, she turned to her son who was still asleep.

Who wouldn't want to see his mother and father killing their enemies? I couldn't shake off the smile on my face knowing that she wanted to fight beside me.

I halted close to the roadblock, I got out of the car and went ahead to meet them.

I was shocked at the crocodile sign on their bikes, she was right about them being a local gang. But they were known for highway extortion of foreigners and I'm not familiar with them so I'm definitely a target for them.

“Who are you and where are you headed?” He asked, His brown hair locks looked amusing to me.

“I'm going out of town with my family.” I was bold at first but I just wanted to act normal.

“Why what's wrong with the city? Isn't it conducive enough for your wife and your son?” His voice felt fake.

“It is but we're in search of greener pastures.”

“That means you have a lot of money searching for greener pastures.” He had his hand on his gun tucked below his belt, staring at how tight the belt was; it would take roughly three seconds for him to get his gun out. It's enough time for me to kill one of them and use him as a shield but I'm not with my gun.

“I don't have a lot of money. This ride is a rented one and I'm returning it to the owner.”

“We can offer you one of our bikes in exchange for your lives and the car. It's a fair deal, what do you say boys?” I realized that the one speaking seemed a lot like their leader, he was the only one conversing with me at that moment.

“I don't think that's a right deal.”

“What's going on honey?” Roselle strolled out of the car, staring at her. I was stunned, she had her shirt unbuttoned exposing her cleavage.

They lost focus on what they were doing, the leader had his hand removed from his gun, I heard two gunshots while I punched the leader closest to me. I pulled out his gun as he fell to the ground, shot his other two colleagues in seconds and had his gun pointed to his forehead.

“Do you know what you've just done?”

“You shouldn't have bargained for the car, it's not worth it when a child is sleeping in the backseat. I can't let you disturb him.” I chuckled softly as I shot his head, I can't let one return back to his people and tell them what happened.

“Take their guns and go back to the car, I'll round up the bodies and their bikes.” I ordered, Roselle obeyed. She didn't ask questions.

She sat in the car and watched how I rounded up five dead bodies and their bikes and tossed a lighter to it.

We drove past the scene, the sound of the explosion made Roselle shudder but Alexander was still asleep.

“Why did you do that?” She should know that leaving bodies is a bad omen because prints can be found and it can lead them straight to us.

“No fingerprints, no trace, nothing that'll lead them to us. I don't think he's the leader so when the leader knows this, we will be long gone.” I looked over my finger and realized that one of my rings was missing.

I hope it melts in the fire… or there's definitely going to be a war which I'm not ready for.

I dashed outside, while Alexander followed me. Not only that, but I rushed down the stairs to see Frederic and numerous men standing in the living room. Before I could move, I realized that I was already surrounded. “What do you want, Frederic?”“I'm here to take you to your parents. They want to see you, and when they do, they'll sign the deal and give me what I want. This isn't a partnership anymore; it's you in exchange for a hundred million dollars.” Frederic divulged, wearing a smile on his face, that he was holding a bottle of whiskey he must have tak

He doesn't even remember me; besides, we were wearing masks that night, so it's not his fault or mine.” She replied as she trailed her fingers on my chest. I wondered why I feared telling her that Alexander was my son. I have the DNA results with me; showing them to her would prove to her that Alexander is indeed my son. “So you don't want to know who Alexander's father is?”“Yes, why would I want to do that? What if he's someone that can't even be with? I'm in love with you, so it's better off that way, and you're good with Alexander; I wouldn't want to mess that up.” “There's no harm in letting him know who his father is even if you don't want him in your life.” I argued with her words as she stared into my eyes. “Do you want to lose me to another man? What if he's a violent type? What if he wants me by force? I'm in love wi

Chapter 223Seth's POVSeth went out of the house, heading straight to the bar because he wanted to speak to my father. He was hell bent on making his father understand Darcy's off-limits; they're now my family. Not collateral for a deal. He strolled into the bar and went straight to his office, then he heard Scarlet's voice, pleading. “I never meant to hurt her. I just wanted to take him away so she'd be forced to do your bidding or lose her son.” It dawned on him that Scarlet was the one that sent those hoodlums to attack Alexander at the eatery. “How did she know I was at the eatery? Did she put a tracker on the car?” He asked himself before storming into his father's office as Scarlet got up to her feet, acting like she wasn't begging. “What are you doing here, Seth? You decided to follow me here!”“Why would I do that? I know that you're the one responsible for the attack at the eatery. I'm not going to kill you, but you know better than to come back to the house where I liv

He's a sociopath and if you leave the house he's going to have you killed. I need to find a way around this before you make any moves.” Seth was about to say another word but got stopped by Darcy's right hand to his left cheeks; it was a resounding slap. “You are trying to defend your father and make it seem like what he's doing is right, trust me it's not working and I don't want to be a part of this whole mess.”“Darcy you're not leaving this house, trust me I wouldn't let you leave. I don't want to be forced to make you stay, don't test me Darcy.” Seth threatened as he held her back but she pushed his hand off her and picked Alexander up. “Mom, I don't want to die. Please let's not do this, we can…” “Shut up Alexander.”“Guards!!!” Seth cal

At that time, Matteo was back on his feet, acting like nothing happened, but he remembers how Fredric helped him out of the press scandal. “Matteo, it's a pleasure to see you standing on your feet.”“What do you want, Fredric? I thought we were over this. There's nothing going to make me agree to that deal.” Matteo retorts as Frederic heaves a deep sigh. “Please let me know what you want. What do you desire, and I'll grant it to you, and then you give me what I want. I can't beg you. It's transactional, so please let me know what your desire is. Do you want someone dead?”“Why would I want someone dead? I have enough men to handle that.” Matteo retorts, wondering if Frederic could find his daughter and bring her to him. “Come on, Matteo. There's one thing that you want that I'm certain I can provide; it's not a big deal.”“Alright then.”“You don't have to

Chapter 220Darcy's POV I was sitting in the living room when Alexander mentioned my name and embraced me with blood stained clothes. “What is this!!” I was stunned thinking that it was his blood until I saw Seth, I was overwhelmed wondering what would have transpired that had this amount of blood on his clothes and his face. He dropped four packs of burger and four cans on the dining table, so I approached him with a question. “Care to explain who's blood is that?”“Is not mine.” I felt relieved when he said those words because I wasn't ready to start stitching wounds. “What happened?”“Some hooligans that call themselves the Reachers, tried to hurt Alexander but I couldn't let that happen.”“Mum, he saved me.” Alexander conceded to Seth's words as I watched him walk slowly. “We need to get you to your bedroom and have you cleaned up.” Scarlet uttered as she was about to touch Seth's hand when he quickly removed his hand. “I can handle myself and even if I can't, you'd be the
