He reached his car and opened the door, getting in without even looking back at her. Maria felt a surge of frustration and anger, mixed with a dash of fear. What was going on? Why was he ignoring her like this? She reached his car just as he was starting the engine, and she knocked on the window, her heart racing with anxiety.

Alejandro's eyes flicked to hers, but he didn't smile or nod. He just stared at her for a moment, then looked away and put the car in gear. Maria felt a lump form in her throat as she realized he was really leaving her behind.

She stepped back, her eyes fixed on his car as it was about to drive away, feeling a sense of abandonment and confusion. The car suddenly made a clicking sound and Alejandro turned to meet her gaze, he didn't need to say a word.
