Masuk"Shut the fuck up!," I heard Rose yell back.
I muffled my laugh. She's like this every day because we train at 5am. My dad has us on a strict training program.
"GET YOUR ASSES UP BEFORE I THROW A BUCKET OF FREEZING WATER ON YOU!," I screamed loudly. Seconds later, footsteps pounded on the wooden floors as Rose and Stephan ran towards me. I glanced at the time on my phone.
4:50am.
"We can make it," I said firmly. We quickly ran out of the East wing where we practically live to the backyard.
"Just on time," my dad muttered as he glanced at his watch. "There's no training today. I have things to do so enjoy the rest of your day. Before I forget, the annual mafia peace treaty or ball, as you kids call it, is happening tomorrow."
My dad pushes us really hard in training.
He wants us to be the best and that we are. Every year, I've been forced to attend the ball along with Rose and Stephan .
I've seen the way other mafia fathers abuse and ridicule their kids and I'm glad my father isn't like that.
We watched as he walked back into the house. "I hate it when he does this," Rose groaned.
Rose has been my best friend since we were in diapers. I can't remember a day I've ever spent without her, same goes for Stephan even though he's a couple of years older than the both of us.
"Rosie," Rose’s mother yelled from the kitchen. Her family, Stephan’s family and my family live under one roof. We're all really close.
"Sì mamma! (Yes, mom!)," she said loudly, wanting to know what her mom wanted.
"Come inside!," Candice, her mom, yelled back.
"You too, Stephan and Daphne."
We ran inside, knowing that breakfast must've been cooked. "Mom," I said to the woman sat across me at the dining table.
Her head snapped up to meet mine. Her brown eyes that are identical to me, looked at me questioningly. "What's wrong with dad? He blew off training this morning."
"Really?," she asked, softly. I nodded my head. "I have no idea."
My mom is a beautiful woman from another mafia. She married my dad to form an alliance which obviously ended up getting broken anyway.
It happens a lot in our life. Many girls from other mafias have been sold or married off to another mafias. Sadly, that's just how things work around here. I'm not worried about that happening to me because I'm not 20 yet and my dad wouldn't do that to me.
"Mia figlia (my daughter)," my mom began. "Try not to worry so much. He's under a lot of pressure with the mafia."
"I know." With that, I put my empty plate in the sink and washed it before I headed towards my bedroom.
I reached the East wing and walked around. There is a North, South and West wing. Originally, Rose, Stephan and I are supposed to be in the same wings as our parents since each family has their own.
The East wing was supposed to be for guests but we kind of stole it. Each wing is like an apartment. We have our own game rooms, living rooms, kitchens, dining rooms, bedrooms etc. If it was up to me, I wouldn't ever leave the East side.
I entered my room and walked into my closet. My closet is my favorite room in the whole house. I stared at the circular couch in the middle of the room before walking towards it and pushing it to the side. When that was safely out of the way, I pulled the white fluffy rug back revealing the door in the floor. I pulled open the door and climbed down.
I let out a sigh as I looked around the room.
Different types of knives and guns were neatly hung on the walls or placed on the shelves. On the other wall, bullet proof vests were hung. This was my personal weapons room. No one knows about it except for me and possibly my dad. My hand trailed over the guns. Over the rifles, snipers, handguns and more. This is the only room where I felt at peace except for the bathtub.
Ever since I was able to walk, talk and understand things, I've been training. My dad started training us early in case anything was to happen to him then at least we'd know the foundation. From the foundation, you can build up and up just by reading and asking around. As soon as we were all 12 years old, we moved on from the foundations stage and developed everything we had learnt previously in more detail.
Knives were my specialty. I love having the choice of ending someone's fate quicker or not. A gun doesn't really give you much of a choice. One shot and that person is most likely dead or is going to die in the next couple of minutes.
Hearing Rose shouting for me made me look at the time. 12:00pm. Time's flown by. I quickly climbed out and shut the door before pulling the carpet over it and pushing the couch back on top.
"What?," I asked Rose who was shouting from the game room.
"Your dad wants to see you."
I nodded my head and left our wing and headed downstairs. I wandered around for a while until I came across his office. I really hope he's in here.
If not, then I just wasted my time and energy walking all the way over here. I knocked on the door and opened it when I heard him tell me to come in.
I sat down in a seat across his desk.
Papers were scattered everywhere. He looked tired.
"What's going on?," I asked, knowing that he probably needs me for another mission.
"I have some exciting news, Daphne lili Thorne," he said, not even sounding excited at all. I noticed that he said my full name not Lili, my nickname. It's something deadly serious and he wants my full attention.
"Really?," I mused.
"You, my child, are to wed Adrian Smith."
"What the fuck were you playing at?," Sebastian yelled as he threw my bedroom door open, not caring that I was naked. May I remind you that I am butt naked. It is night. I didn't think anyone would come into my room. I let out a small yelp as I threw a blanket over myself."I could say the same thing about you!," I snapped back. He widened his eyes only now realising that I was naked. He slammed the door closed behind him and slowly stalked towards me. I wrapped the blanket around me like I would with my towel. "Why the fuck did you go there?""You disappeared," he scowled like I did something wrong."Surprised you noticed," I scoffed out. "I had a fight for this afternoon and you just fucking cancelled it. Do you not know how much I was looking forward to it?""Fuck the fight. You just fucking fought me!"I scoffed and shook my head in anger. "I wanted that fight and you just took it from me. You fucking snatched it out of my hands. Fighting you isn't some big fucking honour so ta
A Day LaterI walked around my dressing room butt naked. This is my place. I deserve to feel comfortable without worrying that someone's gonna walk in.I don't feel comfortable at Sebastian's house.Maybe in my room I do but around the house I don't.A knock sounded on my door. Max, my boss, yelled from the other side as I threw on my red gown. "RED!""I'm here," I panted as I pulled open the door.He narrowed his eyes at me as he walked in."You've been here since yesterday. Don't you think you should go home?," he advised me. I looked at him confused."Why would I need to go home? Don't I have a match soon?""You do but I'm just concerned for you. You turn up here after months with no contact and suddenly you stay for a night. It just seems a little sus," he informed me."If what by sus you mean is everything okay at home then my answer is yeah?""Your husband been treating you alright?," he asked. I nodded my head."Yeah. I actually told him about Red and this place a couple of nig
"Where's my breakfast then?," I ask with a small smile playing on my lips. "Come on, a deal is a deal." Sebastian mumbled something with annoyance under his breath as he began to get to work making my breakfast."Morning," a voice says making me look toward where it's coming from. I turned my head to see Rose. She slowly walked towards me and slid into the empty seat next to me."His shirt as well, huh?," I said with a slight chuckle. She shrugged her shoulders as I wiggled my eyebrows suggestively. Her cheeks burned red as she tried to fight the smile growing on lips."Okay. Fuck you," she said as she let out a small laugh. "I'm going." She stood up from her seat and went to Lucas room I'm guessing.Once I knew she was out of earshot, I turned to Sebastian who I know was listening in on our small conversation. "You know, I always thought she'd end up with Stephan," I told him honestly.Since everything that's happened, I couldn't help but notice that Stephan is more reserved than usu
Tonight is special. For one reason mostly but many other tiny ones."I don't want to get too drunk!," I yelled over the deafening music. Rose narrowed her eyes at me as she dragged me to the bar and ordered us both a drink. We downed it in one go before she headed back to the dance floor leaving me all alone at the bar. I glanced around the place.Someone had caught my eyes. I slowly began to walk towards him. He was sat in a small secluded booth with a drink in his hands."Come on, Seb. We're here to have fun!," I exclaimed as I held his hand attempting to pull him up."How drunk are you?," he asked. I shrugged my shoulders."Not very." I knew for a fact that I wasn't drunk mostly because I only had one drink.I held his hand, guiding him through the sweaty bodies towards the middle of the dance floor where all of our friends were situated. Rose and Stephan danced together as they jumped up and down like they were on a high. I don't even want to tell you what Lucas and Dorian we
Four Months Later"Lets go out," I proposed. Sebastian raised an eyebrow as he glanced up at me from the mountains of paperwork littering his desk."Tonight. With Rose, Stephan, Dorian andLucas""What's so special about tonight?," he asked curiously as he put his pen down and stared at me intently. It was nerve wracking as the butterflies in my stomach flew around like wild animals being kept in a cage."Nothing," I shrugged nonchalantly. "We were planning on going to a club.""No," he said flatly. I let out a sigh. "You're not 18. Fuck that, you're not even close to 21, they won't even let you get near the entrance." I rolled my eyes. He's forgetting the fact that none of them are 21."We can go to one of your clubs," I suggested."Please."He mulled over the idea for a few moments before agreeing. I let out a small squeal as I ran around the desk and threw my arms around him before giving him a small peck on the cheek and running out."He agreed!," I said excitedly into my phone as
Daphne’s PoV"Sebastian! Stop walking away from me!," I yelled as I watched him walk further and further away from me. I let out a sigh and threw myself back into the couch, instantly regretting having to be the one to tell him.I called him after I found out the truth and before I knew it, he was on the next flight over here. Of course, I didn't tell him over the phone.Lucas slumped down next to me, not being his usual happy self."My face hurts," he grumbled as I examined the bruise on his eye. I felt like saying'serves you right' but Lucas didn't deserve that."Why is it so hard for him to accept the truth?,"I asked no one in particular as I thought out loud."Maybe because he grew up thinking this. In fact, we all did," Lucas told me honestly, actually being serious for once. It's hard to believe that he was born in the mafia because he's so bubbly but Dorian on the other hand is easy to believe."Yeah," I mumbled. "I'll see you later. I gotta go talk to him." I stood up from
