~Daphne’s Pov~

Four days later I stood staring at myself through a mirror as a tailor sorted my dress out from the bottom. I looked unreal. I looked beautiful but I didn't feel it.

"You look absolutely amazing," the tailor gushed.

I didn't reply back. She said the same thing every couple of minutes.

I stared at the dress. It was beautiful. It was a white ball gown with long lace arms that were off the shoulder. The veil flowed behind me. It was a train. I looked like a fairy tale princess exactly how I've always wanted to look on my wedding. I didn't choose the dress, the venue, makeup artist, cake. I didn't even choose my hairstyle. I chose absolutely nothing so as far as I'm concerned this isn't the wedding I've always dreamed of. "You're ready," the tailor stated as she looked down at my dress with pride. She quickly grabbed her things and left the bridal suite.

I moved away from the mirror and looked outside the window. Maybe, this marriage won't be so bad. Suddenly, the door is thrown open.

"Why the fuck are you still in here?," he snarled as he stalked towards me. I didn't move from my spot and only turned my body to look at him.

If he wasn't someone I hate so much, I'd feel so lucky right now. He looked handsome. I can already imagine the amount of girls after him. His dark eyes only made him seem more mysterious.

He seemed around 6"1 but I might be wrong. Let's just say that mathematics isn't my strong suit. All I know is that he uses his height to his advantage as he towers over me, making me feel small and intimidated.

"Wipe that look off your face and act like a happy fiancé," I mimicked what he said to me at the ball.

Without a warning, he grabbed my neck and squeezed it, not enough to make me struggle for air but enough to know that he wouldn't hesitate to squeeze harder. I didn't flinch. I was trained to show absolutely no pain. He squeezed a little harder wanting to see me in pain.

I heard the door being pushed open. "Get your hand off my daughter’s neck," my dad said threateningly as he walked into the room.

Adrian removed his hand and neatened up his suit jacket.

Remember what I was saying about this marriage maybe not being such a bad idea after all? Yeah?

Well, scratch that idea. If my dad hadn't have walked in, Adrian would've squeezed my throat until I passed out.

"Make it quick," Adrian snapped as he left the room. I let out a sigh as I felt my body relax. I didn't even realise how tense I was.

"You look stunning," my dad said with tears in his eyes. I didn't say anything. He literally just saw me getting strangled by my soon to be husband.

Why isn't he stopping the wedding? "You'll be fine," he said but it sounded like he said it more to himself than me.

He held his arm out for me to take. I put my arm in his. He opened up the door and we walked to the room where the ceremony was being held. The music started and people stood up. We walked down the aisle slowly. What if I trip? Would Adrian cancel the wedding? He'll probably kill me.

My dad squeezed my arm, stopping me from doing anything.

Finally, we reached the alter. He begrudgingly grabbed my hands once I stood across him. I watched from the corner of my eyes as my father sat in his seat.

There were no bridesmaids or best men.

There was no flower girl or boy. No one walked down the isles with the rings on an expensive pillow. To me, this wedding seems more like a funeral.

The officiant began to speak. I tuned out for the most part until Adrian squeezed my hands really hard. "I-I," I stammered. I looked towards my family who were sat near the front. Sara looked like she was on the verge of tears, my mom looked sad and my dad was slowly nodding head, wanting me to say yes. I glanced up at Adrian to see a vein popping out of his forehead letting me know his patience was running thin.

"I do."

He quickly slipped the ring onto my finger before dipping me. His head covered mine, making it seem to guests that we had kissed. I didn't expect to be kissed anyway.

Claps could be heard from the guests. No cheers.

No laughter. No chatter. Simply claps.

There was no reception. Tables of food and beverages were lined up on the sides.

We walked around for a couple of moments, accepting well wishes from others.

There was no bouquet throwing or family pictures.

As I was being tugged outside the venue, i glanced back. "I need to say goodbye to my family," I told him.

"No," he shrugged carelessly.

"What the fuck is your problem?," I asked him getting fed up of the way he was treating me.

"You."

"Why'd you marry me then?," I burst out.

He rolled his eyes and pushed me into the back of the limo. "Cause I sure as hell didn't want to marry a jackass like you."

"Listen here and listen closely because I'm not gonna repeat myself twice," he said, his voice going dangerously low. A chill ran down my spine. "This is an arrangement.

Nothing emotional or sexual. You mean nothing to me."

The whole car ride back to my new home was awkward and quiet. Finally, the limo stopped in front of a mansion that's possibly bigger than my home. My old home.

He got out and slammed the door shut. I rolled my eyes at his childishness. I pushed the door open and stood outside. "You should've just bought a banner that says 'Welcome to your own personal hell'."

"And I should've killed you when I first met you," he retorted. "There's a lot of things I haven't done that I should've."

I let out a scoff as I pushed past him and entered the house. He followed behind and closed the door.

I need him to start trusting me before the summer breaks over. When school starts, I can make my escape. It was around 11pm at night. I heard Adrian walking towards the door. I slipped out of my seat and ran towards him. "Business?," I asked, guessing where he was going. He ignored me and snatched my phone from my hands. Shit. I should've hid it. I didn't bother arguing with him for it. "Come on, I'm trying to make this arrangement somewhat bearable and you're not helping at all when you act like this."He ignored me and opened the door, letting the cold air hit us. I followed him outside. A guard stood in front of me. "Make sure she stays inside," Adrian ordered the guard. I rolled my eyes. He's hellbent on making me feel like a prisoner. I shrugged the guard off me and walked back inside the h

~Daphne’s pov~It's officially been two weeks since the wedding.Thankfully, Adrian’s mother left for a couple of weeks. She has business someplace else."What the fuck!," I heard a guy exclaimed. "You can't just say that to her and expect her to come home with you.""What? I didn't say anything bad!," another one defended himself. Their footsteps began nearing the office. I sat up straight on the couch, knowing that they'd walk in here.In case I haven't mentioned it, I spend a lot of time in the office. When Adrian here, I come in here to piss him off and when he isn't I come in to read a book. He has a huge ass bookshelf in here that he probably never touches."Woah!," one of them exclaimed as he walked into the office. He quickly covers his eyes. "You weren't planning on doing any kinky shit?"I furrowed my eyebrows. I have a book in my hands...The other guy with him slapped him over the head. "She's got a fucking book in her hand!"He uncovered his eyes and peeked at me. "I'm

"Why the fuck am I not allowed to see my family?," I yelled at Adrian. He sat across me in his office."Because I said so," he said roughly."Because I said so," I mimicked him. "Just because you said something doesn't mean I have to listen.""What do you want?," he asked frustration clear in his voice. He clearly forgot what the whole argument was about."I want to see my family.""No," he said flatly."Fuck you," I hissed out. I was just trying to be nice by asking him. "I will go and you can't stop me.""Can't I?," he asked with a smirk as he leaned back in his seat. He knows I can't do anything around here without his permission."Listen here jackass, you don't tell me what to do.Only I can do that so take yourself and your fucking rules and stick them-.""I'm not interrupting anything, am I?," Valeria, his mother said as she walked into his office."No," I told her. "I was just leaving." I shot one last glare at Adrian before I left the office.I do not like his mom. Not one bit

  • THE MAFIA QUEEN   CHAPTER 8: RULES DON'T MAKE A FAMILY

~Daphne’s POV ~I laid on the comfortable bed. I had nothing to do and nowhere to go. My phone that I had stuffed in my bra had no charge so I couldn't call anyone. I didn't know the time.Suddenly, I heard the lock click, telling me that someone unlocked it. I didn't move. Heels clacked against the floor as the door was pushed open.Adrian doesn't wear heels. I sat up and saw a woman. She was small and petite yet I could tell she had an edge to her. Her clothes were designer, a brand I use for special occasions. A small Louis Vuitton bag was in her hand. She looked exactly like Adrian, minus the facial hair. Her face looked me up and down in confusion before she clapped her hands. A man wearing a suit approached her. "Richard, bring this young lady's suitcases up," she ordered him. He nodded his head and sprinted away.Suddenly, I felt embarrassed and self conscious. I was still in my wedding dress. I quickly glanced out of the window. Light. It was day time. Clearly, it's the ne

~Daphne’s Pov~It's been an hour. A whole hour since the wedding. We've been bickering non stop."Asshole," I mumbled as I stormed past him. He followed behind."Where the fuck are you going?," he said loudly as I pushed open the door, letting the cool breeze hit my face."Somewhere far away from you," I shrugged."Not possible," he shrugged. "Just give me your phone." I ignored him as I continued walking towards the metal gate. He's not getting my phone. I'm not going to give it. I stuffed it in my bra.He grabbed my arm. Without thinking, I pulled out the gun I found and pointed it on him. I found the gun in his office and I decided to explore. I thought it would come in handy and it has.I raised the gun up in the air and shot into the sky.He instantly let go of my arm. I backed away, still keeping the gun on him. "Put the gun down," Adrian said calmly as he stood in front of me, still in his wedding suit."Fuck you!," I hissed out as I bunched my wedding dress in my hand, making
