I never knew hospital were terrifying when it was time to deliver.

Yamah sat in the chair beside my hospital bed, leaning forward, elbows on his knees, fingers clasped tightly together. He hadn’t said much since we arrived. He just kept watching me like if he removed his eyes from me, something would go wrong.

“You’re okay,” he kept saying.
