LOGINKylie’s POV
There I was at the back seat. I never realized how much Liam despised me. Of course, his queen was right in front of him, the passenger princess, while I was just there.
Right after we came down from the car, he held her hand and made a gesture to help her out of the car, whereas I had to do everything myself — but I always did for five years.
“I’ll have a plate of seafood and a bowl of hot chicken soup, just that, to go.”
Liam had already ordered a plate for himself and Aurora. I always felt invisible to him.
“Oh, Liam, you forgot to order for your wife. So sad.”
“She will figure it out herself. She always does. Besides, she’s the one that does the work around the house.”
Liam couldn’t even show any sign of sympathy towards his wife — oh, I mean his ex-wife.
And there she came, the only woman who saw my value amongst the Hills.
Mrs. Leanna Hill.
“How are you, sweetie? I hope Liam is treating you well, as he should.”
It made me sad to realize that I was going to leave the one person who actually saw value in me.
“Mrs. Hill, I’m getting a divorce from your son. This marriage doesn’t seem like what it is supposed to be. I have to do this for my own safety. I love your son, but Liam doesn’t love me.”
“I won’t change your mind, my daughter. Besides, I’ve been seeing how Liam has been behaving around that girl. I don’t know how she got her way into my son’s heart, but I support your decision.”
It was time to finally cut the cake, and Mrs. Hill had already gone to prepare it before cutting.
“Dinner is served!”
The waiter said, holding our food in his hands. Before I knew it, Liam’s bowl of steaming hot soup was about to pour on his suit. I reached out to prevent it from spilling on him. Immediately, I tried to redirect the bowl with my good arm, and the hot soup poured on my fractured arm. I cried out in so much pain that everyone in the restaurant started seeking help.
“Kylie, are you okay?” Liam said, running towards my seat. I never realized that he still had a little bit of care for me in him.
Right before he could even hold my arm, Aurora called out, screaming again, claiming that a bit of the soup touched her arm.
“Come on, Liam! Aurora is in pain, help!”
Terra said, giving me the same haughty eyes again.
“Are you okay? Where did it hit you?”
I should have known — to Liam, Aurora always came first. He offered to take her to the hospital, and at that point, I could hear people murmuring about how he picked her over his wife.
I went through excruciating pain, so much that the staff had to call an ambulance.
And there I was, in one of the least rooms in the hospital. At least that was what I could afford.
“Miss Kylie, you are lucky you made it to the hospital early enough. Any minute wasted would have required your arm to be amputated.”
I could see the medical report files stacked near her, and there it was — Aurora’s file. Liam had booked the best room in the hospital for her. Why did I bother? He would never show a hint of care for me again.
“Okay, Miss, I will be moving you to Ward 211 for an X-ray,” the nurse said.
Ward 211 wasn’t just an ordinary room; it was one of the best rooms in the hospital.
“Nurse, I don’t have enough money to pay for this ward.”
“Someone booked the room for you, miss.”
It could definitely not be Liam.
“Please, can I know this person?”
“With time, you will know,” she smirked, leaving me in awe.
I could hear chuckles from the next room — it was Liam’s voice. Aurora was about to be discharged. How stupid of me to think that Liam would come looking for me.
The ambulance had to take me back home. On second thought, I preferred the hospital to my home.
And there he was. My eyes couldn’t see enough — he was preparing lunch for her. Liam had never done this for anyone, not even his mum. I guess love is an understatement when it comes to Aurora.
“Oh… Kylie, you’re back. You know I wanted to come see you in the hospital, but… Aurora was in so much pain, I couldn’t leave her.”
Coming from the same person I heard laughing and dancing to music with Aurora in the ward room.
“Liam… my hand almost got amputated because I was trying to save you, and all this is about is Aurora.”
“Stop overreacting. I mean, you get burns every day cooking for me. What makes this one different?”
I was so pathetic to think that he would choose me over Aurora. She was right there, relaxing on the couch.
“Hey, Kylie.”
I felt his hands on my shoulders.
“I’m sorry, and I promise that the next time you get hurt, I will take you to the hospital.”
For a moment, I thought he still had a little bit of care for me. But every time I thought so, he a
lways proved otherwise.
A few more days and I will no longer be the Aurora they know.
Kylie’s POVI told myself I wouldn’t meet him.I said it out loud while staring at my reflection in the elevator mirror,Anytime I remember what I and Liam did that night,I feel nasty .My hands were steady, my spine straight, my face calm. Everything looked fine. Inside, it wasn’t.The message from Liam had been simple. We need to talk. One last time.No threats. No demands. That was what scared me.The café was quiet. Neutral. Public enough to feel safe, private enough for damage to happen without witnesses. Liam was already seated when I arrived, his jacket folded neatly beside him, his phone face down on the table like a promise he hadn’t yet decided to keep.He looked… softer. Older, maybe. Or maybe I was just seeing him without the blur of fear this time.“You came,” he said.“I won’t stay long,” I replied, sitting anyway. He smiled, slow and knowing. “You always say that.”I hated that he remembered things like that.We talked about nothing at first. Work. The weather. The city.
Liam’s povThe station smelled like rust and sweat. Desperation always had a scent. I could taste it in the back of my throat as I signed the bail documents and slid them back across the counter.“Tara,” I said when she stepped out, eyes red, jaw clenched. “Let’s go.”She didn’t say thank you. She never did. She just walked ahead of me like she always had, like I was the one who owed her for existing.Behind us, someone screamed my name.“Liam!”I didn’t turn.Aurora’s voice cracked the way glass does when it finally gives up. I could feel her staring dangerously into my back, waiting for me to explain, to soften, to be sweet to her.I didn’t.Liam, Tara finally spoke. “You’re not bailing her?”I laughed, short and humorless. “Why would I?”“She loved you,” Tara said carefully.“She used me,” I corrected. “Big difference.”.I dropped Tara off without another word and drove back alone. The silence in the car was loud. Too loud. Atleast it gave me room to think.Everything always came b
Liam's pov " Damnit damnit…shit”After all my efforts to get this document signed from the damn Kylie, she still chose that bastard. I never thought Kylie would love anybody asides me. “You know,I can help you bring down Yamah and your wife..ohh I meant to say your ex wife, just one night Liam. You know every night back in those days I hear how Kylie screams and moans. Make love to me, just once liam" she said coming closer in an enticing way.“I can't seerah,I still feel something for Kylie I can't do whatever you are asking" “well how about I expose your sex tape to the board of directors and guess what, you won't have a chance with the Yamah's group” she chuckled dangerously“Wait seerah, which sex tape" “Ohh you mean the one where you were having sex with Aurora in the hospital or the one where you were having sex with Kylie’s supposed best friend" she chuckled again but this time it was deep.“Seerah ok look what do you want?”“Just one night Mr Liam then you and I will bring d
Kylie's POV Liam wasn't only a gaslighter but a manipulator.“Kylie I don't love Aurora anymore it's you I want, give me a chance to prove it to you" He sounded demanding and persuasive.i was in a dilemma.i had to choose between my happiness and Liam.“Liam I have a contract to sign" “Ooh,you can go ahead and sign alright or loose your new lover and your wack fashion business" He held me back but this time more threatening. I could already hear my name through the hall way. I had received ten missed calls from Yamah. “Get off me you bitch" I unapologetically pushed him away. I had lost so many opportunities for Liam but not this time.“Pathetic" he smirkedThere it was my contract deal sealed in gold,I never knew there was life outside married.i worshipped Liam like a god despite his ignorance towards me. Now it's finally here and he wants me to give it up for him, Not this time." Kylie I called you severally, what happened? Are you sure you are okay?”" Yes I'm fine Yamah”Ohh
Liam’s POVI checked all through the corners of the city, and she was nowhere to be found. No one knew of her whereabouts, and that scared me the most.I spoke too soon. I saw Kylie in a Rolls Royce, laughing with someone else. Shit! I knew she had always cheated on me. She will pay for this.Returning home, I felt empty because the one person who at least cared had left me.“Bring me the documents so that we can send them to the Yamah’s Group to review.”The Yamah’s Group was one of the biggest companies. My company had been sending requests over the years to collaborate with them. At least I hadn’t lost my opportunity with the Yamah’s.“Hey, sweetie.”I could hear her annoying voice at the door. It was Aurora. She always came when she needed something, and my sister always followed like a bodyguard.“Bro… since Kylie is out of the way, you can marry Aurora. You guys will make a perfect couple.”“I need my wife back home.”“That thief? She dares not.”“Liam, let’s get married and hav
Kylie’s POVFinally, I will be proving myself to one of the best fashion companies in the world today. I have been called to show my skills for the pageantry concerning fashion. Now I see what it feels like to be something other than a housewife.“Hey, miss…?”“It’s Kylie.”He was the subordinate director of the team.Everything seemed to be moving too fast, and this was where I wanted to be.I started off with different board meetings, expecting the CEO to notice my effort, but it had been brought to my notice that the CEO had been out of town for years.Everyone was impressed with what I had to offer, including the supervising director.“You did magnificently… can I take you for lunch? I hope your husband doesn’t mind.”“Of course not… trust me, he won’t.”I felt uneasy knowing he would spend more than he earned.Smith unlocked some emotions I never knew I had in me. He made sure I felt safe, and that was the only thing I had asked Liam for.I reached out to my phone to show Smith m
