Rebecca's POV

I raked my hand through my messy hair for the hundredth time.

I was getting crazy. And that was for sure.

Two days ago, two guys saved me from an attack. They were complete strangers, but one of them had that faint scent of Kael—one of my mates.

The weird part was that it wasn't the first time. And that's what made me confused.

Was Kael actually here?

No….no…no…

It can't be. His father wasn't going to let him out of the pack to the human world. Not when he knew I was currently residing there.

I shook my head, an act I loved doing to take off my mind from something.

Today was the weekend and I was going to spend it in bed having crazy thoughts.

I pushed myself up from the bed. My legs trembled slightly from staying in bed all day.

“Chring, Chring”

A notification buzzed from my phone.

I bent down, picking up the phone from the bedside table.

When I opened it, I realized it was a text from Lily. My hands hovered on the screen, hesitating to find out what she wanted. Because usually she ruins my weekends with endless shopping.

Finally I clicked it. Not because I was in for one of her crazy endless shopping. But because a part of me thought it could be an emergency.

Lily: Meet me up at Marvel's bakery and café. I have something important to discuss. It's also a great opportunity, so wear something nice.

Lily had always been the playful type and for her to be serious that meant it was actually important. Thank goodness I opened it even though I hesitated.

Me: I'll be there.

I quickly dropped my phone back.

I jumped into the shower, and in a few minutes I was out. Usually I love taking my time while having my shower on weekends. But since it was important I barely stayed in the shower.

Lily had mentioned I wear something nice but most of my clothes were mostly corporate wear and simple dresses, they were nothing special.

I scanned through my wardrobe again, then I found it.

It was a light blue elegant dress. It wasn't a long gown, neither was it short. It was elegant yet it was still corporate. It was the one Lily had bought for me during one of her crazy shoppings.

I slipped it on. The dress clung to my figure perfectly, outlining every single curve in my body.

I paired it with light blue heels, with the same shade of my dress.

I grabbed my phone and purse and left for the café.

In a few minutes I arrived at the café. My eyes scanned the café, but I didn't find Lily. Instead I only saw Blake.

It has been quite a long time since I saw Blake, so I decided to greet him while waiting for…

I approached his table.

He didn't even realize I was right beside him when I got there. He looked…lost in thoughts.

“Blake…Blake…Blake” I reached out, but he was blank.

I snapped a finger at him.

He shook his head, trying to gain his composure. “Oh..Becky you were here.”

I rolled my eyes, so hard it might have stuck. “Obviously not. I'm just a ghost at your table.”

I pulled out a chair beside him. Not even waiting for his permission, not like I needed it anyway.

“What's up with you? You look like you are thinking of how to handle your kids. Not like you have one anyway.” I asked, my brows raised.

He took a deep breath. “It's nothing…just work.”

He was lying. That was for sure.

But whatever got him so lost was personal. And one thing was for I don't pry into people's personal space.

I shrugged. “If you say so. Anyways have you seen Lily around?”

“Lily. Oh…she said she'll meet me up here. Haven't seen her either.” He responded.

Wait…Lily was supposed to meet him, at the same cafè she was supposed to meet me.

Was it supposed to be like a three person conversation?

“Excuse me.” I murmured, already sliding out of my chair and turning toward the corner of the room.

I opened my phone about to dail her number when I saw a text from her.

I quickly opened it, hoping to see an explanation. But I didn't. Instead she sent me something I didn't see coming.

Lily: Enjoy your date with Blake.

Wait…What?

She set me up with Blake.

Blake? Of all people. Not like he is weird or anything.

It's just that I've considered him a friend from day one. Even though we have had some crazy moments.

God…when I catch that girl I'm gonna deal with her. That's for sure.

A part of me felt like leaving, forgetting about Blake and just going back home to enjoy my weekend in bed.

But I couldn't just leave Blake like that. Not when I had told him to excuse me.

I exhaled, going back to my seat.

“So…have you heard anything from Lily?” He asked.

At first I remained silent, not wanting to say anything. Because I didn't trust myself to not pour everything out.

He waved a hand at my face. “Becky?”

“Oh yeah… about that. Lily isn't gonna be coming.”

His face dropped slightly. “Ooh…”

I sat upright in my chair. “But aside from that, we could still catch up on some things. You know it's been a long time since we've seen each other.”

A small smile found its way to Blake's lips. He looked much brighter than before now.

“So..how's your new job coming along?” he questioned.

“The pay’s good but it's stressful.” I admitted.

He leaned back, crossing his arms. "You should be resting today then, since it's the weekend.”

“True. But Lily called me out so I paused my rest.” I paused, then continued. “Anyways, how's working at the café going?”

He shifted in his chair. “About that…I got fired.”

“What?!”

The moment Kael walked into Le Coeur de la Vie, the cozy café fell silent. All conversations trailed off, and lots of forks paused mid-bite. The rich aroma of fresh croissants and dark espresso was overpowered by the commanding scent of cedarwood and storm-rain that seemed to cling to Kael; the aura alone coming from him was commanding. He stood in the doorway, looking every inch the Alpha in his tailored charcoal three-piece suit. The kind of cloth that screamed power and wealth, the crisp black silk shirt beneath was open at the collar, revealing the strong, tanned line of his throat. The cufflinks glinted at his wrists, and his dark hair was styled backward and gave him that dangerous Alpha vibe. A sleek silver rate edition watch laid on his wrist, completing the picture of refined power.Cassidy's breath caught as she took in the sight of him. 'Gods above, he's incredible.' She thought. Heat flared low in her belly, and she wanted to rise, close the distance, and press her palms a

Kyle stood in front of the cracked full length mirror, adjusting his tie for what felt like the hundredth time. The navy blue suit was one of his finest, making him look sharp and kind of classic. And he sprayed the cheap perfume his sister had gifted him on his birthday. His sister, Lily, walked into the room, her eyes scanning him up and down before she scoffed like she'd just smelled something foul. She leaned on the doorframe with her arms crossed under her chest."What's with the get-up?" she asked, her tone dripping with disdain like honey off a bitter spoon.Kyle ignored her, focusing on putting on his watch. The one his dad had given him the Christmas before he passed away."I'm going out," he said, trying to sound casual like he did this every night.Lily raised an eyebrow, her expression saying, "You think?" "With Cassidy, I presume?"Kyle nodded, still fidgeting with his cufflinks. "Yeah. We're grabbing coffee."Lily snorted like a bull in a china shop. "Coffee? At Le Coeur

Aldric's eyes narrowed like a hawk spotting its prey as he stared at Cassidy, his face was a mix of calculation and mischievousness. Aldric was like a ticking bomb when he needed something, and Cassidy knew she had to defuse him, which was simple; obeying him."Cassidy, I need to talk to you," Aldric said, his voice low and menacing, like that of a snake.Cassidy entered her father's study, her eyes wary, her heart racing so loud, she thought he might hear it. She didn't like her dad so well, because all he cared was wealth and power. The room was dimly lit, but bright enough to recognize someone, and go through files. She felt a shiver run down her spine as she approached her father's desk."What is it, Father?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper, but it was loud enough for h in m to hear.Aldric's expression was like that of a storm cloud; dark and cold. "I want you to seduce Kyle and get information from him," he said, his words like a command not a request. His tone was c

Kael's blood boiled over as he beat up the werewolf, his fists connecting with his ribs and what could be heard was a crunch_the kind that meant something had broken. The sound of Kael's fist hitting his flesh echoed through the alleyway, and the werewolf's pained groans only fueled Kael's rage. The werewolf's face was a bloody mess, his eyes swelling shut. Kyle's gaze flicked to Rebecca, who was watching the scene with a mix of fear and gratitude."Are you okay?"
