24. DO IT RIGHT

The following day, the wedding did happen, but I was not concerned about anything that was happening at the ceremony. I had left the palace for the clinic as early as possible and almost worked myself to death that day.

I was treating every single patient by myself and refused the help from the other nurses and doctors, made rounds by myself and even forgot that I hadn’t taken anything all day. Han stood back at the palace to cook my meal and brought it for me but it was left on the table untouched for hours until she came around again, nagging me to eat this time.

My back bone cranked as I tried sitting down, making me wince in pain. I never took a break nor sat down all day as was expected.

As I gulped down my food, I could feel her eyes linger on me, but I tried my best to ignore her. I knew what she wanted to say but I was not ready to hear it, so I just pretended to and I turned my attention to the food.
