My alarm rang, forcing me to wake up. I sluggishly shut the alarm and dived deeper under my bed covers for a few minutes.

it usually took me five minutes to wake up fully, so I made sure to set the alarm five minutes earlier. After exhausting my extra five minutes, I finally dragged myself out of bed and opened my bedroom windows .

At 23, I was already one of the youngest and successful architects under the Casanovas construction firm. One of the most successful companies in New York. After getting myself ready for work, I locked up my apartment and went to the train station.

Grabbing my cup of hot chocolate, I walked into the train. I always had my earpods on, to shut the noise and chaos of the outside world. I could hear virtually everything, because I have extraordinary senses. I am a werewolf.

I am not normal, and I always tried my best to keep my identity hidden . I have extraordinary speed, agility and strength.

No, I am not a superhero, I am a werewolf. however, unlike most werewolves, I don't live in a pack, and I am not a rogue either.

I belong to one of the most powerful packs of north America, 'The oval moon pack'.

I am in touch with my elder brother, who has a wife back at the pack. I visit my pack one in a while, for annual events.

However, I prefer the city. I have gotten used to their lifestyle, and wanted to keep it that way. But there's a reason I fled the pack years ago.

When I was ten, I had accompanied my mom into the woods to fetch firewood, then we were attacked by rogues. Mom let out a loud howl, alerting the pack, before hiding me in the bush. Mom did not survive the attack, and my dad died too in the hands of the rogues.

Werewolves are violent and territorial. They fight over the commonest things, and I lost both my parents to the cold hands of death.

I could see lunas die out of heartbreak, after losing their partners, and that is one of the reasons I never thought of finding my mate.

The mated wolves are like half of the same soul. They could either die, or run mad out of grief if their mate is dead or lost. Very few wolves manage to survive the ordeal of losing their mates.

I didn't want to become like them. Though I could feel my wolf whimper desperately within me. I was well aware that she was searching for her mate ever since I hit adulthood and shifted for the first time, but I wasn't ready yet. Or probably would never be.

After my parents died, my elder brother Antonio sent me off to New York to live with my aunt. My aunt is a keeper.

Keepers are people who are aware of the werewolves, and other supernatural beings. You see, werewolves are very secretive, and can stay hidden from humans for a long time.

There might be a werewolf living right next to you, and you'd never know it. However, living amongst the humans required some amount of annoying interactions, like landlord interferences and so many other things.

Keepers like my aunt, are humans who knows about us, and help us. At the beginning, I lived with my aunt in Australia. As soon as I shifted for the first time, my aunt moved to New York. You see, they are no wolves in Australia, hence no wolf packs. If I was accidentally spotted by someone while out for a run, it would be hard to explain the presence of a wolf in a wolf less country.

At first I had little or no control over my wolf. But now , I rarely shifted unless I was in total isolation. I preferred my human side.

"Seems like you preferred the weekend?" Elsa my pretty redhead colleague asked me as soon as I reached my cubicle.

"You can say that again." I smiled while shoving my bag in the drawer.

"well, I went clubbing. I missed you alot, and I hope you'd join me and mark next weekend." Elsa grinned at me.

I just laughed it off. Mark Casanova was the heir to the Casanovas construction company, and also my boyfriend.

"When is he coming back from his trip?" Elsa enquired.

"End of the week hopefully." I replied.

Mark and I had been together for the past two years. He asked me out as soon as I joined the company, and I accepted.

I am used to grabbing attention from men . I am an average 5'4, I have a slim body, hazel eyes and blonde hair. Everyone says I look like my mom, and that she was very beautiful, and I was lucky to inherit her features.

Initially, I avoided Mark because dating the heir of the company I worked for would be unprofessional . But Mark was sweet and persuasive, not to mention how kind and generous he was.

unlike wolves, who are overprotective and possessive. I can't stand obsessive partners, and that is another reason why I didn't want a mate.

Mark is human like everyone in my office, and my friend circle. he has no idea that I am a werewolf. I have successfully kept my werewolf concealed all this years and I plan to keep it that way . However, someday I'll have to reveal my identity to him. I don't know his reaction yet, but I do hope he'd treat it lightly.

The day went on as normal, boring to be precise. I preferred this boring and quiet life to the life in the pack.

I had just entered my apartment, when my childhood best friend, Olivia called me. I turned on the video call, and smiled at her. Like most werewolves our age, Olivia had found her mate. My brother Antonio.

"Hey baby girl , what's up?" I asked

Emma kept smiling at me from the other end.

"I can't wait to see you Blair. you're coming for the Christmas holiday yes?"

"Only if you promise not to force me to interact with other alphas." I chuckled.

Emma and everyone who were close to me didn't approve of my human boyfriend . Not because he was human , but because he was not my mate. For werewolves, finding their mate is as crucial as breathing. They were baffled by the fact that I was disinterested in finding my mate.

It was hard to explain . I just didn't want to end up like my parents, or the rest of the pack.

"I know what you're avoiding, but you can't change your fate. if it was destined, then it's going to happen." Olivia sighed.

"Whatever." I rolled my eyes.

"so how have you been? how are things back at home ?"

"Well we're all fine, your brother is being an ass as usual. He has increased the training routine for all the young wolves." She lamented.

"That's my brother alright." I chuckled. My brother was the chief commander of the wolves in my pack. My brother had to take on that responsibility at a young age. After the terrible rogue attack, he was recruited into the army. Antonio is five years older than me, and was lucky to find his mate early.

Olivia is the sweetest person ever, and helped him find peace and balance in his life.

I finished my conversation with Olivia, and took off my clothes to prepare for the night.

I shifted into my white wolf. I couldn't go out in the open for a run, but my wolf understands. I let her run and have fun at my aunt's estate.

Curled up in my wolf form, I fell asleep on my soft bed.
