Amelia’s POV

Since Justin hurried out of the compound, he hasn’t returned. I can’t shake this growing unease. He didn’t even step into the house, he just switched cars and zoomed off. I had freshened up and prepared his meals, but he hadn’t come back. His food had even gone cold.

I won’t be able to sleep if he doesn’t return soon. I picked up the remote and switched on the television, hoping it would keep me awake until he came home.

The TV flickered on, and I was about to change the channel when the headline froze me in place.

“Car explosion at Docano’s Bar.”

My heart slammed against my chest as I listened to the news anchor.

“A car exploded in front of the bar earlier this evening. The cause remains unknown, and the driver has not been located. It’s unclear if he survived, but authorities hope for the best. Here is footage of the car before and after the explosion.”

I froze. That car… it was Justin’s. His black sports car, his favorite, now a heap of flames.

“Oh my God… Justin!” I w

The person behind all this is really smart. Impressive… but not enough.“Clean up this mess,” I ordered, my voice flat. The boys stepped forward immediately, lifting the body and dragging it out of my sight.“You’re not the only smart one after all,” Lorenzo muttered.I turned sharply, glaring at him. My eyes burned with fury. I walked toward him slowly, deliberately. He kept shifting back until his back hit the wall—cornered and trembling.I grabbed his neck and squeezed.Hard.His eyes bulged, tears spilling down his face before I finally released him. He collapsed forward, gasping desperately for air.“Just kill me already, Justin!” he cried.I ignored him.My hand slipped into my pocket, finding the dagger. Without hesitation, I plunged it into his lap.His scream echoed through the basement—loud, broken, almost musical. It pulled a dark smile from my lips.My gaze shifted to Matthew. Pathetic Matthew. He shivered violently under my stare.I don’t even know what to do with him any

Justin’s POVThe nurse dropped to her knees immediately.“Please, sir… don’t do this to me. This job is my only source of livelihood,” she begged, trembling.“You should’ve thought about that before running your mouth,” I said coldly, my glare sweeping over the rest of the nurses. They shrank back, fear etched on their faces.“How dare you insult my wife?” I snapped, my jaw tightening. But even as the words left my lips, something twisted in my chest. Why am I standing up for her?Well… because I’m the only one who has that right. The right to insult her.The right to look down on her.The right to hurt her.No one else dares.“Please, ma… help me plead with him,” the nurse whimpered, turning to Amelia. But Amelia’s face was unreadable—cold, distant.“Let go of me,” she said flatly, shaking her legs free from the woman’s grip.“Next time, learn to mind your business.”Without another glance in my direction, she turned and walked away.I stared after her, stunned.Wait… isn’t she suppo

Amelia’s POVThe doctor’s words hit me like a punch to the gut.I staggered, but a strong hand steadied me before I could fall. I clung to him like my life depended on it.I saw a flicker of jealousy cross Maxwell’s face, but that was the least of my problems now.“Doctor — can anything be done?” I choked, tears thick in my throat. “Mum can’t be in a wheelchair. She doesn’t deserve that.”Dad swayed beside me, pale and stunned. My heart lurched — he’d been warned about his blood pressure; the doctor had said he must avoid shocks. I could practically feel the strain tugging at him.Images of our childhood crashed through me: the cinema trips, the way we used to roam the market and laugh over nothing, Mum always rushing from one place to another because her business needed her on the move. Could it end like this? Mum trapped in a wheelchair? The thought made bile rise in my throat. They should take my legs before they take hers.Tears rolled down my cheeks and I pressed my palm to my mo

Amelia’s POVI didn’t even wait for Jackson to park the car properly before jumping out.I rushed into the hospital reception and approached the first nurse I saw.“Please, where is Mrs. Hart’s ward?” I asked, struggling to steady my voice.“Come with me,” she replied, and the look of pity that flashed across her face made my heart sink deeper. It was already bad enough that Mom was in a coma… I only prayed it wasn’t worse than that.I trailed behind her, each step heavier than the last. My heart pounded so loudly I feared my chest might explode. We stopped in front of the ICU. I paused, inhaled deeply, and exhaled shakily before stepping in, bracing myself for anything. But nothing could have prepared me for what I saw.As soon as my eyes landed on Mom, the strong girl in me shattered. Tears streamed freely down my face. There she was—lying motionless on the bed, wrapped in bandages, pale and unrecognizable, with an oxygen tube fixed to her nose.Dad sprang up the moment he saw me. Amelia’s POVThe men moved closer, their grins wide and deliberate.“Stay back,” I warned, my voice firm.“We were paid to have fun with you. Be a good girl,” the chubby one with the bald head said.“I don’t do fun. Go get a prostitute,” I shouted, but they kept advancing. The lanky one reached for my arm. I swatted his hand away. Another man grabbed my waist, and I drove my knee into his groin. He let go with a groan.“How dare you,” he yelled. Two men seized my arms, pinning me in place. The bald one, who seemed to be their leader, undid his belt. I twisted and fought, but their grip only tightened. Was this how I was going to lose my virginity — to strangers? Who would pay them to do this? Faces flickered through my mind, but none stayed long enough for me to name.I squeezed my eyes shut, bracing for the worst. The door burst open.Justin strode in, his face cold and hard. He crossed the room in two quick steps, slammed his fist into the face of the man holding my legs, and blood

Amelia’s POVI stepped into the mansion and was welcomed by the maids.I made my way upstairs. Immediately I stepped into the room my breath hitched.Lying majestic on the bed was a golden dinner gown embedded with diamonds, beside it was a black heels embedded with gold stones and a black handbag to match. My heart swelled with excitement and the anger I felt since evaporated into thin air.I picked the gown and ran my hand through the smooth fabric. Justin sure knows how to flutter someone and he also knows how to hurt someone. He does the right thing at the wrong time.Well with this beautiful dress laying in front of me begging to be worn. Who I’m I to say no? I would be going for the banquet.I peeled my work clothes off my body and slide into the bathroom humming softly.I let the shower run through me washing away all the sweat tiredness.I stepped out of the bathroom feeling refreshed. I combed my hair thoroughly before wiping my body dry.I applied body lotion, then I pack
