IRIS.

“Who are the enemies?” Draco asked again.

“The Guardians of the Lunar Wolves…” she replied.

“They are a myth,” Draco stated as my heart thundered.

He couldn’t remember the part of his life where he met the Guardians, which I just recently found out when I met Princess Adessa. Adessa’s mother, Adelaine, was one of the Guardians.

“And Dark Faes are a myth, too. But here you are, standing in front of two faes.” Meridian replied with her brows hiking up.

“I don’t understand…” I mumbled.

“I can’t say more. I wasn’t here when the Guardians were able to enter our forest because of a breached portal. They slaughtered your whole bloodline, except your mother.”

“They let my mother live?”

“No… Princess Cassiopea had been missing for many weeks before the attack. Some said she ran away, but many said the King hid her because he probably knew the Guardians were coming after them. No one knew, except Eox. And he never told a single soul about it. Not even me. So what we know about your mot

  • THE SUBSTITUTE LUNA   Chapter 145

DRACO.Iris nodded at me, her eyes full of worry and I knew she wanted us to hurry. I ignored the pain shooting in my arm as I pushed my body off the ground. I grabbed her hand and placed her behind me as we walked further, following the direction that Meridian gave us until we saw the old double oak door. That was the entrance to the Dark Fae’s palace. Iris walked ahead of me without removing her hand from my hold. Together, we reached the door that bore a symbol that looked like a leaf with five points pointing upward.Iris placed her hand on it and it didn’t take long before it glowed, and the door opened. It was dark, and ice-like smoke was coming out from the inside. Meridian had told us about this, so I knew it was useless to try to see what was inside, since nothing could really be seen. So instead, I snaked an arm around Iris’ waist and reminded her that we would step inside at the same time.“On three,” I said. After she nodded, I began counting. “One, two… three.”We steppe

  • THE SUBSTITUTE LUNA   Chapter 144

DRACO.Before we left Meridian’s home, I asked her why she was willing to help us when Eox was someone important to her. I could not deny that, after she told us about their past, I began to doubt whether she was really an ally or an enemy. So I didn’t stop myself from asking her about her intentions. She told us she wanted Princess Diallica to accept the destiny that was meant for her to save the dark faes. And to save them, she needed the Princess alive and to reach her full potential. If she became powerful, Eox had no choice but to step back and accept that the throne was never meant for him. I waited for Iris to open her mouth and say something—that she didn’t want that and she wanted to return to the human world but there was nothing. It seemed that in a matter of a few hours, she had changed her mind. And I was not sure if I was okay with that. “Did you ask her how we could leave this place?” I asked her once it was just the two of us. She nodded and began talking. I let o

DRACO. I held Iris’ hand as we walked down the stairs to the basement of Meridian’s house. I was preparing myself for the worst, but after a few minutes of staying there and with her busy scanning a book while talking with Iris, my chest began to calm down. But I still kept my guard up. I listened as Meridian taught her about manas and energies and where she could channel them. Then, she began the crash course on chants and magic. While Iris listened and watched intently as Meridian performed simple magic before her, I grabbed the piece of paper and pen that I saw nearby and wrote down what I heard and observed.I didn’t say Iris was dumb or that she wouldn’t remember what Meridian was teaching her, but with the surprised expression on her face, I wasn’t even sure if everything had sunk in. So I wanted to have a list of the chants and the movements Meridian was making, in case Iris needed them later. This was actually how I learned things. While my father kept telling me I should

  • THE SUBSTITUTE LUNA   Chapter 141

IRIS.“If a female dark fae loves you, they glow when your seed enters their body. Brigetta claims she likes you, and I wonder if you’re finally the one who would make her glow. That fae falls in love as many times as if she’s just picking up wild flowers…”Meridian was still talking, but my mind was stuck on the part where she talked about the glow. I felt my face burn as Draco looked at me. I shouldn’t be embarrassed, as before this, I was very vocal about how I felt for him. But without his memory and him remembering he was with Felicity, I suddenly felt it—taking me back to the time when he brought me home. I thought Felicity was still living in his home, and yet I couldn’t help falling and lusting for him. “Princess Diallica?” Meridian’s voice snapped me from my thoughts, and my head snapped up to look at her. “Hail to the Imperial Faes! You are beautiful. Much more beautiful than your mother!” She exclaimed.“My name is Iris…” I said as I met her gaze, ignoring the part where

  • THE SUBSTITUTE LUNA   Chapter 140

IRIS.“Meridian found me and took me into her house. I didn’t fuck her. And I have no plans of fucking her. Now, can you take us to her? Maybe she can help us.” He explained.I shook my hands and head, shaking away the jealousy eating my body, before I looked at him again. Draco already had his hand laid out toward me, waiting for me to hold him. I extended my hand and reached for his. The moment his hand clamped over mine, I asked to be taken away from here and into Meridian’s house. My body was sucked into the spiral tube again, but before that, I felt Draco pull me closer to him, his arms wrapping around my body, holding me close and tightly. As if he was terrified we could end up in two different places. ----------------------DRACO.My mind told me I should move along on my own and just leave Iris or Princess Diallica because fucking her was already my first mistake. And with how my body was reacting to her presence, I doubted that would be the only mistake I would make. And ye
