IRIS.

The Alpha had seen me naked, so this should not make me feel nervous, but it did. Not because I was terrified of him, but more because I wanted him to like what he would see.

Alpha Draco was right that the ointment he gave me was efficient because the wounds on my back and part of my waist had dried overnight, but they still left some marks. Plus, the old scars that I had. There was nothing I could do about it and just hoped he wouldn’t mind, like he seemed not to mind them last night.

I carefully put on the lace sheer nightdress I had chosen before I removed my panties.

My eyes rounded as I softly gasped at the thong that I was supposed to wear. This was as good as nothing. How can people pay such an amount for this little fabric?

“Do you need more time, or do you want me to come there to help you?” Alpha Draco’s voice rang in the air, and my body went stiff.

I immediately bent over to put on the thong. “Almost done, Alpha…”

“Relax, I’m not rushing. I just want to make sure y

  • THE SUBSTITUTE LUNA   Chapter 100

IRIS' POV.“What were you planning to do with her then?” I was scowling, my chest heaving as I waited for his response. “I didn’t know. All I knew was that she was Kael’s, and anything that Kael had, I wanted away from him. But even before she could reach my territory, Adessa had already created havoc. She killed my half-brother and my security guard with her own hands. When I couldn’t find her. I raised her crime to the King’s court. She was named a fugitive. The next thing I knew, she and Kael were back together, fleeing not just from the authorities but also from my wrath. Many of my men died chasing after them, including my Delta. It was the reason Liam was not too prepared as a Delta because his promotion was all of a sudden.”“You wanted to kill them…” I mumbled in disbelief.“My men kept chasing them but they kept dodging every bullet fired at them. They kept slipping from my grasp. During the chase, one of my men discovered Adessa has a power to heal. He saw her heal Kael. Wh

  • THE SUBSTITUTE LUNA   Chapter 99

IRIS' POV.After dinner, while inside the car and we were just less than half a kilometer from the manor, Draco asked the chauffeur to stop the vehicle. We decided to walk the rest of the way back to the manor. We had nothing else planned for the evening, so we might as well enjoy the scenery. The moon was shining beautifully in the night sky, so it was just the perfect moment for a night walk. And the best part was that Draco held my shoes in one hand — while I walked barefoot on the cobblestone pathway — and my hand with his other. We walked hand in hand the whole time and the only time he let it go was to wrap his arm around my body to keep me warm. Because, despite the coat that I had, we were still in the north, where the wind was chilly, especially at night. We had many conversations during the walk. We talked about the dinner and the people around us. Then I told him about my conversation with the princess, up to the part where she said she had no idea she was a princess unt

  • THE SUBSTITUTE LUNA   Chapter 98

IRIS’ POV“I will not take up any more of your time, Princess Adessa. And if your offer still stands, Draco and I would love to join you and Prince Kael for breakfast tomorrow.” I bowed my head toward her, letting it remain bowed until she finished speaking. “I’ll see you tomorrow, then, Luna Iris.”I nodded again and tilted my head to meet her gaze. “And welcome to the Kingdom of Absalom. I hope you’ll enjoy your stay here.”“Thank you, Princess Adessa. I know I will.”“If you need anything, the reception office at the manor has an officer 24/7, so just go there and leave a message if you need anything. Or if you have a message for me.”“I will do that. Thank you so much for your generosity.”She smiled at me but before she could leave, someone approached us. If I remember it correctly, he was one of her brothers. “Is she among the guests at the dinner tonight?” The prince asked the moment he stopped beside the princess.“Yes, she is.” She replied to him before she turned to introd

  • THE SUBSTITUTE LUNA   Chapter 97

IRIS’ POV. My heart was thundering as I followed the Royal Guard and made my way to the gazebo where Princess Adessa was. She was there alone and I had no idea where her prince was, but maybe it was better that way. So, if I made a fool of myself, she was the only witness, and not the two of them. But I hoped and I prayed that Felicity hadn’t said any bad things about me to her because for some reason, I wanted the princess to like me. I stopped in front of her and bent my knees, lowering my body into a curtsy as I tipped my head down in respect. “Good evening, Princess Adessa.”“Good evening, Luna Iris.” She greeted me back.“You know my name…” I mumbled as I stood up straight before her, clasping my hands together as I met her stare.“It is a beautiful name, and not easy to miss when they were introducing the guests.”I felt my cheeks burning at the simple compliment. I couldn’t believe I was standing before a princess and she was smiling at me. “How old are you?” She asked.“Twen

  • THE SUBSTITUTE LUNA   Chapter 96

DRACO.We were placed in seats far from the Royal Couple, so there was no way I could present Iris to Princess Adessa personally. I was already in a bad mood the moment we were ushered to our seats, but I did my best not to show it to my date, as I didn’t want to spoil her night. And I was glad I was on my best behavior because the night turned out better. I rarely encountered royals or attended functions sponsored by the palace, but I can honestly say that nothing about this event or place excited me. But for Iris, everything was new to her, and her emotions were all over the place. The little bird beside me couldn’t stop blabbering about everything she was experiencing for the first time. Her excitement when she told me that the princess and her prince smiled at her, or that the King looked at her, was contagious. I couldn’t help smiling with her. But aside from her happiness, one thing was evident — she was prepared for tonight, more than what I expected of her.Iris was alread

  • THE SUBSTITUTE LUNA   Chapter 95

LUNA PRINCESS ADESSA.The lights beamed at us, and it snapped me back to the present. We had arrived at one of the massive gardens of the palace, which they had transformed into a wonderful, cozy setup. The first idea was more extravagant than this, almost akin to the reception for the wedding. But I wanted a laid-back dinner with the sky as our ceiling, so I had rejected that idea. All our guests were already standing when we were introduced. My father was the last to be announced.Once King Esaak was seated, Kael and I sat down, and so did my brothers who were in attendance. My lovely mother was not in attendance, as she would rather not cause any scene tonight. Up to this moment, we all had no idea what fate awaited her and she was concerned that the Guardians might use a big event like this to punish her. I knew she was still trying to communicate with them to ask them a favor to spare my wedding, as she wanted to be there. I had no idea if she had any success on that, as I had
