CHAPTER 3

CHAPTER 3: MY WAY TO PAY YOU BACK

Memories came to her mind, those memories where she was one of the most respected women in the country. She had had everything, money, a house, love from her mother, and now, just the application to the bank's cell phone was everything that luxury life had left her. The card between her hands felt so good, even the decorations on it were something beyond what she had by that moment. There was power in that simple card.

When the application was opened, her eyes opened widely. “How come Daniel could have something like that?” He was no more than an employee and, of course, that was okay but... she just couldn’t understand that.

It could not be possible, in the application was the money she was needing. How come he could give her so much money at once? No matter how much she blinked, the money was the same, the money she needed for her daughter was there, marked on that little screen on her cell phone.

In the end, it was not necessary to know or to think about where that money had come from, it was money that had to be his savings and now, she had all his money to do whatever she wanted with it.

An immigrant, a hard-worker constructor, had given her the life of her son. Daniel was the name of the person who had given years of work to her. Daniel was the angel that had come to save her and her daughter.

.

Looking at the dark sky, with the same clothes he had gone out, he smiled. His life had not been easy. That city was everything while he was nothing. Just people going back and forth, some happier than others, some in a hurry, while others seemed to want to delay their return to home.

The cigarette in his hand gave him power, an invisible power he knew he had.

“When are you coming? Everyone misses you so much here.”

Daniel smiled. “Soon. Don't miss me so much!"

A sigh was heard from the other line. “Well, I think I should let you sleep.”

“Good night!”

And then, Daniel hung up. Once again, he sighed before leading his eyes to the scattered sky. From his pocket, he took a piece of paper.

It was a receipt for blood donation. There were three receipts like that one. Without wanting to know anything else, he squeezed the receipt into a ball and threw it away.

By the moment he got back home, it was 8:00 p.m sharp. Once again, there was nothing, there was no one, just darkness. Slowly, he turned on the lights. As always, it was a problem to turn on the lights. Nothing in that little space he called home seemed to work well. The lights were turned off by themselves. As soon as he was in his room, he took off his t-shirt once again. He was so tired that all he could think of was to sleep right away, touch the bed and sleep.

In less than a minute, Daniel fell on the bed. His eyes closed at the mere instant he crashed on the bed, turning around to make himself more comfortable than he already was. His eyes opened at the mere instant he realized there was someone else there. On the other side of the bed.

In his mind was the name of the only woman that lived there and who was the mother of the little girl who he felt a certain love for. Rebecca.

What was she doing there, in the bed of that man?He sat up as soon as he understood why she was there. She had no need to do that.

“Rebecca, please, you don't need to do this," said the man, not knowing how to talk some sense into her.

“I know all our loans have to be paid," she replied expressionless.

Needless to say she was not comfortable with that. He didn't do anything. He didn't say anything. Daniel was too shocked to even react.

“This is my way to pay you,” continued Rebecca.

Daniel looked at her. Of course, she was beautiful, of course, she was attractive to him, but that was not a way to pay. She didn't have the need to even come closer to him.

"I didn't say anything aside from explaining to you it was just rent."

How come he could say it was just rent? Of course it was not for her. 50, 000 dollars. No one goes over there giving that amount of money. Her uncle, her friend, her ex-husband, no one had borrowed her that amount of money but Daniel. Just a inmigran man.

How long until he reaches that amount of money again? How much work? How much would she have to work to get together that amount of money? Well, it was clear she was not to work for that thanks to the man who had given that money and was looking at her with those beautiful brown eyes.

It was not she was not a decente woman, it was not she didn´t have respect for herself but just a mother is capable to understand what a mom who loves how she loved her son is capable to do when someone is paying for the life of her son. Thee miracle life gave her, the miracle that made her strong.

The truth was, without her son she didn´t know at which moment she had let herself fall. Maybe, that was something Daniel wouldn't understand. He just wanted to be paid. In the end of the day, there is no man on earth who does things for free. They always expect something in return and Rebecca was capable to do the worst thing ever in return to her son's life.

But what Rebecca didn't know was there were stil men who didn't expect anything, there were men who werehappy to see the woman who had been there for them, happy.  That was the case of Daniel.

This book is poorly written. There is mention of son and then daughter. The grammar is very poor. Very horrible read.
