Chapter 009-Its weekend

It was a beautiful weekend morning and Christine was excited to visit her friend Laura with her daughter Manuela. They had planned to spend the day together and catch up on their lives. As they sat down to have their breakfast, Laura couldn't help but compliment Christine's beauty.

"You look stunning as always, Christine. You have such lovely features," Laura exclaimed.

Christine blushed and thanked Laura for the compliment. However, Laura didn't stop there. She went on to talk about how lucky Christine was to have a husband like Robert, who was not only gorgeous but also stinking rich.

"Robert is so handsome and charming. And let's not forget how much money he's got. You're living a dream life, Christine," Laura said, her eyes sparkling with envy.

Christine didn't know how to respond. She loved Robert with all her heart, but she didn't like to brag about his wealth. She knew that Laura had always been a bit jealous of her life, but she didn't expect her to be so blunt about it.

Manuela, who had been playing with her toys, overheard their conversation and looked up. She was only six years old, but she could tell that something was wrong.

"Mommy, why is Aunt Laura talking about money and stuff?" Manuela asked innocently.

Christine tried to change the subject and distract her daughter, but Laura wouldn't let it go.

"I'm sorry if I offended you, Christine. I'm just a little jealous of your life, that's all," Laura said, trying to sound apologetic.

Christine didn't want to ruin their day together, so she tried to be understanding. But deep down, she knew that her friendship with Laura might be in trouble. She had never liked it when people judged her based on her husband's wealth.

"Don’t worry Laura, I understand you and I just don’t want this to get in the way of our friendship," Christine responded.

They spent the rest of the day together, but things were a bit awkward between them. Christine couldn't stop thinking about their conversation, and she wondered if Laura was really her friend or just envied her life.

As they left Laura's house in the evening, Christine was relieved that the day was over. She loved her life and her family, but she didn't want to be judged for it. She hoped that her friendship with Laura would survive this, but she knew that it might not be the same anymore.

Christine stepped out of her friend Laura's house, feeling content after a much-needed catch-up session. As she made her way to the car, she noticed her daughter Manuela waiting for her eagerly.

The three-year-old girl had been happily playing with Laura’s children and was now excited to go shopping with her mommy. Together, they headed to the nearby mall, chatting excitedly as they walked.

Christine was grateful for the company of her bubbly little girl, who always put a smile on her face. Shopping with Manuela was always a fun experience as she enjoyed selecting little outfits and accessories for her daughter.

As they walked into the mall, Manuela's eyes widened with amazement as she gazed at the glittering displays of toys, candy, and clothing in the shops. She pointed out her favorite toys to Christine, excitedly asking if she could have them.

Christine gently explained to her daughter that they would only choose one toy to purchase today, encouraging her to take her time to find her favorite one.

Manuela eventually settled on a cuddly teddy bear and clutched it close to her as they continued shopping. They wandered up and down the aisles, picking out clothes and accessories for the little girl.

As they made their way to the checkout counter, Christine felt grateful for moments like these - spending time with her daughter and watching her grow into a wonderful little human. She gave Manuela a tight hug and promised that they would have more such outings together in the future.

With a wave of goodbye to the shop attendants, they made their way back to the car, Manuela still clutching her new teddy bear. They drove home with contented smiles on their faces, eager to share their shopping experience with Laura and her children when they meet next time.

Christine was elated as she finally got the car of her dreams. She had been saving up for months to make this happen, and it felt like a dream come true. She couldn't wait to take it for a spin, so she decided to drive straight home with her daughter after the dealership handed her the keys.

The drive home was supposed to be a happy one, but the weather gods didn't seem to be on her side. The sky was overcast and it was raining heavily, the kind of rain that makes it tough to drive. As she drove, Christine could feel her daughter snuggling closer to her, feeling cold and scared.

"Mommy, when will we reach home?" her daughter asked in a trembling voice.

Christine tried her best to be reassuring. "Don't worry, sweetie. We'll be home soon. Just hang in there," she replied, shooting a reassuring smile at her daughter.

Christine could feel her heart racing as she drove through the winding roads, each turn or swerve making her feel more jittery. The rain just kept getting heavier and heavier, and the roads were quickly turning into a slippery mess. She slowed down as the visibility became worse and she could barely make out the road ahead. She wanted to get home quickly, but not at the cost of their safety.

To pass the time, Christine started talking to her daughter, distracting her from the fact that it was dark and stormy outside. They talked about school, about her friends, and about what they'd do once they got home.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, they reached their driveway. Christine let out a sigh of relief and turned to her daughter.

"We made it! Let's get inside and get you warmed up," she said, feeling relieved and happy at the same time.

Once inside, they cozied up on the couch under a warm blanket, with a cup of hot chocolate. Christine's new car may have brought them home, but it was the warmth of their home that made them feel safe.
