CHAPTER EIGHTY FIVE

When Aric stated that he intended to marry me, I instinctively jerked back, and if I were to believe the look that his mother gave me, she wasn't exactly thrilled with the idea, either.

I attempted to attract Aric's attention as he made his proclamations, but he was so focused on maintaining control that he never looked her way.

After everyone else had left the room, Lady Leanor finally let out all of the pent-up frustration that she had been holding in. His mother and sister were the only other persons in the room.

"Why did you do that?

"She snarled as she glared aggressively in his direction.

"To what end?"

"Aric inquired while displaying signs of bewilderment.
