As we assembled the floor, I looked around carefully, noting where everyone was.
The beast was right at the center on his throne.
His brown hair was long and silky. His deep brown eyes held a calculating gaze.
With a tight-lipped and stern expression, he watched each of us prudently.
There were some men and guards, standing by his side.
We stood on our toes, with our ankle jewelries which clanked as we moved.
My eyes scanned the whole hall. There were lots of guests, Lycans actually, seated and watching us.
With curls of distress in my features, I looked around as everyone cackled, and drank.
Anytime soon, the Great Dance would begin, and I was starting to get a cold-feet.
"Ladies, assemble!" Knight Linda ordered and we all gathered together.
"Remember this is your last chance to be among the five chosen mates for the beast. Those five will be the ones to compete onwards till the beast gets to choose that one person that is ideal for his mate. I want you to give it your all."
"Yes Lady Linda," We all chorused together.
My eyes scanned the area as we formed up, trying to find an ideal location. I knew I had to do something different to catch the beast's attention.
We were also told the rules.
All I needed to do was to get the beast to throw his piece of cloth towards me and the four others who would be selected as his mate. Not mate per se, but getting picked here meant we were qualified for the next stage.
I wasn't interested in being his mate; instead, I was only curious to know more about him and unravel the mysteries in the four walls of this kingdom.
The bell dinged, with the orchestra playing the music we had rehearsed to.
In our dancing costumes, we spun around, exposing our stomachs. I was going to take full advantage of it, swaying as the harlots in my pack did.
Our waists were thrown towards the beast as soon as we parted ways, our legs jingling our anklets. We followed Lady Morgana's instructions exactly, practicing the same motion with our shoulders.
The minute the dance ended, the remaining 19 girls, including Hazel, laid in submission.
But as the beat continued, I took a leap of fate to dance just from the middle.
I grinned as I slowly twisted my stomach and threw my waist in the direction of the beast. My hands went from the middle of my breasts to my collarbone as I stared into his dark brown eyes.
Next, my legs widened and I slowly settled on my toe. Coming back up, I turned back directing my ass towards him. My hand came directly at the waistline of my dance skirt as I made an illusion of removal.
When the beast, Lycan Xavier, smiled, I knew I had gained his attention.
From the beats the orchestra made, which I had studied, I knew they were about to end.
Slowly, I connected to the floor just at the middle, in submission.
With my two hands outstretched, I got nothing from the beast. Rather, I only heard claps from the audience after my dance performance.
As I wondered what was going to happen next, my heart pounded.
I was almost giving up until I felt the piece of cloth on my hands.
My eyes widened.
The beast had just thrown it to me.
I let out a deep sigh as I caught eyes with Desmond where he stood. We were both tensed and horrified of what might happen. Carlos tried his best to stop his father but it didn't work out."What are we gonna do now? She's losing it," I muttered to Xavier."I guess I'll give myself up for her to feed." "H-how are we gonna do that?" "I don't know. We need a little bit of a distraction to do this," Xavier muttered with a sigh, his face studying every angle and features in the courtyard.Xavier firmly grasped Hazel, attempting to soothe her, but she was beginning to lose control.I only wished I could help with something, probably helping to cause a distraction. Just then, I focused my gaze on the bright lamp on the wall. The longer I stared at it, the brighter it gleamed. As I experimented a little bit with visualizing flames, the lamp's light intensified till flames appeared. As I stared at it intently, the fire flared brightly, engulfing everyone in the courtyard in fear and confusi
The whole pack members stood on a large courtyard with their eyes fixed on Alpha Varlos who paced around as he spoke. Everywhere was quiet and the only thing that could be heard was the deep furious voice of Alpha Varlos. As soon as we showed up at the pack, his glaring eyes pierced on mine, sending shivers all over my spine. He took his gaze away from me and directed it at the members of his pack."I want us all to be strong. To be active and resilient. We're werewolves, we're known for our strength and purity so I believe we have all it takes to fight against the vampires. According to reports of the most recent death, there is evidence that it was caused by bites from vampires,"I hope our trusted vampire here isn't stabbing us in the back by siding with his kind. I hope he isn't forming alliances with them so they could conquer by eradicating we werewolves," Alpha Varlos blurted, giving Desmond a suspicious look.Desmond walked towards him and gave him a slight bow.He raised his
"Last I remember. I was captured and brought to the vampire's quarters and then I got bitten by one of them,"Hazel said, trying to recall as she held her forehead."I thought I died," "Yes, you died but Desmond saved you by giving you his blood to sip. Hazel, you have to listen to what we're about to tell you now." I muttered to her as I held her by the shoulders. With a confused look, she turned to face Desmond who had a faint smile on his face."Listen Hazel. I'm sorry for what my brother did to you. I'll make sure I get back at him for what he did to you. To save you, I had no choice but to heal you with my blood, but you will become a vampire in the process.""What?" Hazel cried as she shielded her body with her hands. The look of horror on her face was a tell tale sign that she wasn't pleased to become a vampire. She shoved and gilded her fingers into her hair, sighing as she shook her head in disbelief."No! No this can't be," She muttered and I couldn't help but clean the tea
"An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth they say. I guess I feel a little satisfied after killing one of your kind," Damon mocked as he wiped the smudged blood on his mouth with his palms.Carlos and Xavier knelt beside me, their arms wrapped around me as they tried to console me. With his hands clinched, Desmond materialized in front of his brother and squeezed his neck, trying to choke him."You can vent your anger on me as you want but don't forget, I'll always be on the winning side," Damon boasted as he spread his arms, his face plastered with a cunny sly grin."How dare you kill her! How dare you!" Desmond gripped his brother's neck harder and snapped, his emotions getting over him completely."Don't be surprised. I've lost every little bit of my humanity and that's what makes me feel better. I was only trying to be on a fair level with you. You killed my men and I am left with no choice but to kill her."Enraged by his brother's remarks, Desmond punched him hard in the face."
My heart race tripled and I retraced my steps as I heard their guttural loud growls. Before they could take another step towards me, they halted abruptly and widened their eyes in horror. I watched as blood spilled out of their mouth with their skin turning pale. When they went limp and tumbled to the ground, I saw Desmond behind them with their heart in his hand– He had just plucked it out behind them. The other vampires who were busy with their festivities stopped whatever they were doing and directed a cold gaze at us. It wasn't surprising to see them react that way as they could tell when one of their members die. They snarled with their eyes fixed on me.Xavier and Carlos appeared at my front, protecting me in their grasp."Nope nope .You don't have to attack yet, mates," Damon announced to his members who growled angrily as they felt they wouldn't be opportuned to get back at us for killing their men."But they killed one of us. We can't just watch as they invade our quarters a
Camelia's POV"What is that?" I asked Kate as I approached her. When she remained speechless, I grabbed the paper from her hand in an attempt to read its content. "It's Damien," Kate muttered, her fist clenching and her teeth gritting."He took Hazel," "What!" I exclaimed, not wanting to believe as I read between the lines on the piece of paper in my hand. My hands started to shake and my heart got heavy at each scribbled word I read."No! No! This can't be, THIS CAN'T BE!!" I screamed loudly and a heavy wind whirled abruptly in response. My eyes shifted to gray; my powers started to surge as my anger increased.Books, papers, and various light items spinned and hurled in the wind and the whole class turned into a mess. My classmates screamed in fear and some ducked under chairs and tables, stealing glances at me with widened eyes.My bullies held onto firm objects, their jaws dropping as they witnessed the display of my strange powers.Never could believe that I had powers. As my e
