Kaelen's POV

I took a step forward towards the general. “Would you take my advice?” I asked, my eyes locked on his unwavering gaze.

A soldier scoffed. “Who do you think you are? A commander? Or an Iron General?” he mocked.

“My father was one,” I said, and they all laughed.

“What will you say next? That you're General Six?” another soldier said.

General Six — a name I had almost long forgotten.

That you're General Six?” another soldier said.General Six — a name I had almost long forgotten.Ten generals went into battle. We were trained together and knew how best to tackle our enemies with I, the only female. But we dropped one after another. Out of the ten, only two remain, General Six and Eight.I didn't die, but I'll say I failed.I ran off from my duty post. Embraced the call for love and submission, but I got nothing but betrayal and resentment from it.I wanted to admit it.I was General Six. The female warrior everyone feared, respected, and didn't cr

Kaelen's POV“It seems the general isn't happy about this,” Alpha Ashton said, not hiding the resentment in his tone.I hadn't said a word, but my expression must have given away my thoughts on the matter. “Can you give us a minute, your Majesties?” Sterling bowed at the men. They gave me one look before leaving. Sterling turned around with an apologetic look. “I know it's not ideal, but it took a great amount of effort to get them to agree to the arrangement,” he told me.I said nothing.“Your mansion is still standing. I've taken care of it all this while, and the servants, even though depleted, are still working. You can return if you wish not to stay here,” he suggested.“…”“Kaelen, it's for your own good. The royal mansion isn't that bad, you know. The Alpha Kings are always busy. The Alphas rarely have the time to bully you, too.”“You t

Kaelen's POVSlowly, I blinked my eyes open to an unfamiliar room. My head ached a little, and I brought my hands to my head. The memories of the last thing that occurred before I passed out flashed through my mind.I looked around once more, then noticed Sterling seated at my side, his palm holding his face up, but kept falling off it as he dosed. Groaning, I sat up, looking around once again at the unfamiliar room.Sterling fell off his palm again, which snapped his eyes open and then to me. His sleepy red eyes darted around before he spoke. “How long have you been awake?” he asked, wiping his face.“Not long,” I responded. “Why did you drug me?” I asked. His eyes widened, panic written in them. He gave me a nervous smile, rubbing the back of his neck. “How did you know?” he asked.I raised a brow at his obvious question. “I'm not dumb. How could I possibly pass out just after taking wh

Kaelen's POV“Mommy!”“Mommy, save me! Mommy!”I snapped my eyes open, looking around with heavy breathing. It felt like I had gotten out of water. I swallowed, looking around the vast forest with nothing but trees and fog.“Mommy, please save me!”The little voice came again. It didn't sound like it was close. It was an echo, repeating that sentence like its life depended on it. And… it resonated with me.I could feel my heart hurt every time I heard the pain and desperation coming from the child. The fog cleared, and I spotted my child being dragged away.He stretched out his hand from behind before he was finally spun around, a knife to his throat. I stretched out my hand, but I couldn't move, then I heard the laughter. Mocking and smug.I dragged my eyes upward, and I found Corvina, hands on my son's throat. “Mommy,” my child cried desperately.I tried to move, b

Cassien's POV“Your Majesties,” the elders bowed as I and my brothers headed for our assigned seats. The room went silent for a moment as the maids served us drinks. Once they were done, they bowed and left the room. “What could be the motive of this meeting today, Griffin?” I asked, taking a sip of my drink. It was the locally brewed wine. Tasted as perfectly as it should be. Griffin, the old bald man, was the oldest of the elders of the pack. He was the trusted advisor of our parents, but he couldn't retain that position after our ascension, as he was just too old for the role. His eldest son took over. Jared, seated beside his father, but Griffin still maintained his position in the council. “There have been a lot of complaints in the pack,” he said.“What for?” Riven questioned.“You four being unmated,” Jared replied.Topics about being mated were a constant thing after

Kaelen's POVI hissed in pain as the doctor unwrapped the now stained bandage from my arm. Too engrossed in fighting my mate bond, I completely forgot about my injury, which was yet to completely heal.Sterling had told me the arrow was laced with poison, which has slowed down my healing process. Considering how slow it was before the attack, it was only worse now.“You should be careful next time. We can't keep opening it up, or it might not heal,” the doctor warned, and I nodded.Sterling walked in with a glass filled with a substance I was very well accustomed to. “Here,” he held it in front of me.“I'm not drinking that again. Not only does it look awful, it tastes that way too,” I told him.“How's the injury?” Sterling asked the doctor. The doctor shook his head, and Sterling exhaled. “You can go,” he ordered. The doctor bowed and left us, accompanied by Hazel. &l
