MasukKaelen’s POV
It happened so fast.I didn’t have the time to react. To process. But Cassien’s voice pulled me out of my daze. I couldn’t run nor hide. I had to face him. And I had to face everyone eventually.I heard every step he made towards me before he stopped, calling out to me. My heart drummed with fear.I spun around slowly, the dagger slipping from my hand. All my focus was on the man who stood in front of me, for the first timeKaelen’s POVI stepped out for some fresh air, still shaking. Hazel brought me a glass of water and I took a sip, managing to calm my nerves. “That same dream?” she asked.I nodded. “But worse.”That dream had become a part of my night. I could never shake it off. Although I hated to have it played to me over and over again, this time felt different. Not just because my child now had Arlo’s face but…“It felt real. Too real. Like it happened.” I sighed. “I couldn’t stop it. I just… I’ve always felt weak in those dreams, yet this time it chilled me to my bones. It…” I swallowed. “The frustration, the pain, I couldn’t deny it.”Not even now.“What do you think it means?” Hazel asked.I shook my head. “I don’t know.”We stayed silent, watching the stars shining in the sky. I exhaled. “I will have to go back there,” I said.“What will you be searching for?” she asked.I stared at her. Unsure what I was even meant to look into. “I don’t know. Maybe when I get there I will find out,” I said
Kaelen’s POVThe hall went quiet in an instant.Arlo was staring directly at me with a smile. I brushed his cheek with my thumb, giving him a smile back. “I’m not your mommy. Your mommy is right there,” I said, pointing at Corvina who stood at the centre of the room.Arlo grabbed my fingers, tears on his face. “Mommy, do you not want me anymore?”My heart skipped a beat. The boy sobbed, holding my hand and I froze in that instant. I couldn’t decide on how to react and how to correct him more than I already had. Before I could snap out of it, Corvina picked him up.“Mommy!” The boy wailed, thrashing his legs and arms.“I’m sorry, Alphas. He is just mad at me,” Corvina said, giving an apologetic smile.Watching him cry broke my heart. A part of me wanted to reach out to him and comfort him, but my hands remained at my sides. I hated that I felt it was right. It wasn’t. I know it wasn’t, so why did I want him to keep saying that.“I’ll take him away. He must be nervous,” Corvina said.Ar
Kaelen’s POV“Is everything in place?”“No, we—”“The alphas are here, you dimwit! Everything needs to be fucking ready!”Merrick was still just as hot-headed as always. His Beta could barely get a word out before his crash out. I stayed at the corner, unmoving. “People are threatening to take over my pack. I am so close to losing everything.” He snatched his Beta’s shirt. “Do you know what that means?”His Beta shook his head, lowering it. Merrick shoved him. His Beta stumbled back, but fortunately did not fall. “I need the Formidable Four’s help. The alphas being here is a rare opportunity. I have to use it so everything needs to be perfect. You hear me?”His Beta lowered his head. “Yes Alpha.”Merrick glared at his beta like he was the cause of his misfortune. He raised two fingers and gestured for the beta to come closer. His Beta was reluctant but he had no choice but to come forward. Merrick then wiped off the invisible dirt from his shoulder. “Corvina cannot handle all this.
Kaelen’s POVI paused at the top of the stairs, staring down at four men who stared at me like I had taken their breaths away. I was dressed in a red off-the shoulder evening gown with a long slit that ran from my thigh to the floor. The jewellery on me was a custom piece gifted to me by Cassien and Riven. Hazel made my hair in simple updo with just enough brought forward for the flair. It felt strange yet so nice being in something this beautiful in a long time.Cassien and Riven stood on the stairs giving out their hands to take. I could pick one to find out what the other would do, but that would give me little breathing space when I got back so I took the hands of both men. They slowly guided me down the stairs. Even when I got down, Asher and Ashton still seemed mesmerized. Cassien wrapped his around my waist, bringing me to his side. Riven cast him a look, but did nothing to bring me to his side.“You look stunning, Kaelen,” Ashton said.We all stared at him surprised for a minu
Ashton’s POVNot five minutes. Not when she just left his study. Not even a minute but just when she responded.Asher gave a stupid headups that Kaelen was coming my way just when I had sounded like I needed her twenty miles away from me. I just received his message when she responded behind the door.It took me a few seconds to realize what just happened.I jumped off the chair, staring down at my clothes. I pulled my shirt down, trying to straighten it. The top two buttons of my shirt were loose but I added one more. More chest view. She liked that.I looked around the room. It was mostly arranged but somehow it felt like a mess. I pulled out the chair across from mine, but pushed it closer to the table the next second. I wasn’t prepared to have her here.“Relax, Ash,” I told myself, taking a deep breath.I got back to my sit, placed my elbows on the table with my fingers intertwined. Just before I called out to her, I changed my mind. I picked up a pen then leaned back into the cha
Kaelen’s POV“How did it go?” I asked Sterling.“It went smoother than expected,” he replied.Sterling was sent to Wildfire pack to help them establish a stronger force to withstand any attack. The last attack took down a lot of what they had in place. I was glad they were still standing and slowly recovering.“If so, why are you back now? You were meant to be back three weeks ago,” I said.He looked around the room, nodding slightly. He was looking for a way to avoid the question. “Nice study,” he said.I humoured him, my eyes darting around the space. Cassien and the others prepared this study for me. Since coming back, there were a lot of things I needed to work on. A study was the best place to effectively do that.“Heard it’s the Luna queen’s study,” he said.“I couldn’t stop them from making it mine,” I said truthfully. We haven’t had the ceremony yet and I was still unmarked, but I can’t stop three stubborn men. At least not when there are things to be done. “It suits you,” he
Cassien's POVSterling has been moody from the moment he walked into the hall. Unusual for him. My brothers and I gave ourselves a knowing look before returning our attention to him.“It seems the general is upset by our presence,” Ashton said, taking a sip

Kaelen's POV I stayed in the hospital for a week. I felt remotely better after staying bedridden for five days and ready to be discharged, but Sterling wished I stayed longer. He opened the door of his car for me. Hazel and I stepped in. We rode in silence until we got to his mansion by nightfall.
Kaelen's POVThe walk back to the car would be unfavourable to us. From their footsteps, they were ready for an ambush on that path. Corvina must have set this up. I wasn't sure why. There was only one place we could try to evade them. It was dangerous, but they were not as much over there. “Go!” I
