Dione's POV

"Lily?" The name fell out.

His secretary, was his mistress all along?

How?

I was very good to her.

My lips parted and quavered but no words came.

Lily started to kneel, "Ma'am I'm really sorry, it's a misunderstanding I promise, I love him and I can't live without him." Lily's sickening voice made my head swirl in anger as she pleaded.

What does she mean she loved my husband? With the ring around my finger?

Has she suddenly gone blind? Or the ecstasy they had took her sight?

My eyes formed moisture.

"Babe you don't need to do that," Aldric seethed, stopping her from kneeling, and then turned to me, "You should apologize for invading on us, you..."

I closed the space between us and with all the might I could use, sent a slap across Aldric's face, cutting through whatever the hell he had down his throat.

He doesn't even hide it?

He had the damn balls to bring in another lady, and a lower secretary into our home. The house that bore my name?

"You bitch," Aldric panted, hitting me back, so hard that I hit my stomach over the table.

Pain bursted in my side.

I wriggled in pain.

It felt like my head had been hit with a sledge hammer.

"Are you fine?" I watched him reach for Lily and scanned her like she was the one that had been hit.

My eyes blurred in tears.

I've been loyal to him for fifteen years.

And he still throws me aside for some new comer who's been here for barely two months.

My side twisted and churned in pain. I gasped trying to control my breath.

"Nothing good ever came from you," Aldric raised his voice. His eyes bulged with anger. "The only thing you are good at is being a housewife and pretending to be sick for attention.”

Attention?

Taking my near death painful episodes for granted and calling it acting for attention?

I wouldn't know if my system was strong enough to give out my kidney because I didn't process it in my head twice to try to save someone I thought would appreciate, or the least—love me back.

I watched him pant like he was one push to slap me again, “It was Lily who donated her kidney for me not you! You broke my trust for you when you turned a liar about such a thing.”

Lily?

My pulse seized.

What is he saying?

Heat blazed behind my ribs and my eyes traced the room till it stopped on her.

And there she curled, her hand palmed on her stomach, eyes filmy with tears like she was feeling a pain there.

She bloody wasn't.

"Aldric I did that because I couldn't watch you be in pain." Lily cried, curling over and wincing in pain.

My lips fell wide apart in confusion.

He ran his hand through his black hair, vividly losing his nuts. “You have the audacity, the nerve, to fake a document and take credit for her generosity, you lying piece of shame.”

“What are you spitting??” I asked, tears warm down my cheeks, “No! Aldric, I'm…I'm not lying. She's the lair. I really gave you my kidney,” I tried to explain, my whole world threatened to break and fall apart like a glass house.

And as much as I promised not to cry for Aldric again…I was doing it, all over again, for the one hundredth and countless time.

"All you ever do is lie. You lied about everything, Dione. I don't even believe any word you say anymore. Five years ago you promised to help me start up this company, but I found out you lied about that too and guess who the anonymous investor that supported me all the way was. She." He said, pointing at Lily.

A frown creased my face.

And as much as I wanted to guffaw at his dumbness because I am that secret investor he mentioned and I have all the evidence.

“I guess Lily is being truthful, right?” I asked, swiping the tears off.

“Lily?? You don't even compare. She's nothing like you.” He shook his head and his hair disheveled, “No, no, she's kind, she's innocent. Not a manipulative leech, hanging money over my head like you.”

“This is really happening.” I whispered to myself.

His words were like burning coal wrapped in my palm.

Aldric has really chosen Lily over me, throwing all my love and sacrifice to the dust.

Heat surged in my chest too big to hold.

“So that's how you see me?” I asked, voice faint as he nodded, nonchalantly.

"Baby you need to be treated, go to the hotel, I'll meet you there." He worried over Lily, his voice falling faint to my ears.

As he picked Lily's stuff around the room, Lily watched me with scorn, a knowing smile helmed across her cheeks.

Yet, she didn't fail to flash me another dangerous glance as I watched them share a last kiss before she left.

I tousled, trying to stand up.

If only Aldric knew the truth about everything.

My vision blurred into a dark mist.

That excruciating pain hit me by my side again.

It hit me so hard, I almost let out a scream.

My legs grew numb from the much pain that electrified them, even my toes tingled.

I gritted my teeth tightly and even held my breath many times to numb all the pain. It didn't work. Not like it ever did.

My eyes watered and my stomach hurt like a knife turned inside it.

My hands shook as I reached for my bag.

I took out my medicine. And just then my legs wobbled and gave off.

Aldric towered over me as I curled in pain. His smudgy face watched me like some thriller movie.

My body hit the floor with a hard impact and the pill bottle fell all over the floor.

He picked the bottle and turned to me in shock. His eyes flashed in what I can't fathom.

“Dione,” he called, stepping closer, “Are you really serious??”

Dione’s POVHe picked the bottle and read, “ Dione, are you really serious?” My throat begged for breath. “ I need my pills please,”“Axitinib tablets? For kidney diseases?” He asked rather curiously.“Just give me my pills, Aldric” I asked, my voice tired. The searing pain in my ribs threatened to shut down my system.“Wow, you deserve an oscar for acting, Dione, just wow.” He said rather astonished, his expression growing serious.Acting? This pain all over my body, is acting? It riled me up the most, I just gritted my teeth and stretched out my hand for my medication but they didn't even touch him.“You even bought props to act with? But it's not gonna work. Because I know it was Lily who donated the kidney,” he hissed, glancing all over me with contempt, like I disgusted him so badly he could puke in my face."Give me my pills," “I've handed Lily over the Vaughn project. You can withdraw from it now,” he said, returning his eyes to the pills.A frown crept into my face.I would

Dione's POV “Thanks for driving me home,” I said, my voice shyly low, as we stopped at the house. My utterance broke the damp silence that had clouded us. Maybe because I wasn't used to being driven home by someone different. But, I had no choice since Aldric had left me at the hotel in shame. In front of everyone. Cameras too. “ You don't have to thank me for that. For you it's nothing,” Alexander said, his lips lifted up in a smile. That smile. I couldn't help but smile too. Though it was barely visible, but I knew I smiled. Maybe because I was grateful. Or the way his deep pink lips curved beautifully. I blinked, taking my eyes off. “And yeah, t..thank you for the billion-dollar investment,” I quickly got out. He smiled back, his voice softer, “You really don't need to thank me. I've always wanted to collaborate with you,” he confessed and leaned forward. Yet again... my heart bolted faster that I feel the soft taps alongside my breath.Somehow... I knew what was coming

My heart sliced with ache.My fingers trembled as I opened the door, and my legs shook, climbing them. And just like that he zoomed off.Leaving me to the eyes of bystanders and whispers that stabbed like a knife. My skin crawled from the many eyes. The awful gawks and of course the camera's recording. For a second, I wished the ground would split open and swallow me whole.Anything was better than staying under those hungry, prying eyes.My heels beat against the floor as I hurried out of the hotel premises. My head bowed to my chest in shame.Three chances Dione. You promised yourself that. Why do you still love him?God, Dione, you're pathetic.I walked into the busy street, the cold wind kissed my skin causing a shock to wave through me.The tears in my eyes threatened to rain down but I sniffed them back. No, you aren't doing that for him anymore. My fingers fondled with my phone as I attempted to boo

  • THREE CHANCES LEFT EX-HUSBAND    Chapter One: The Scandal ; Vaughn's project

Dione’s POV I never thought the reason my husband left me for another woman would be because I committed fifteen years of my life and sold my family assets to help his dream. “Drink up now! Dione.” Aldric’s lips moved against my ear. Clinking sounds of glass wares mixed with depleting applause surged in the dimly lit hall. The acrid smell of vodka, seared my nostrils as I brought the glass closer to my mouth. “I can't drink alcohol,” my words tumbled out. His hand reached for my lap under the table and he squeezed softly, “ This is not the time to joke around, Dione. I just signed my biggest deal tonight and as my wife you are supposed to drink to it before the board to celebrate. So drink up now,” He gritted into my ears. He cleared his throat, buying himself the attention of everyone, then started, “ I want to raise a toast to my beautiful wife, Dione Sterling. Without her I wouldn't be here today,” He said and turned to me, “I love you, Dione.” He pressed his lips against
