Chapter 6

Dan got home dumbfounded; he couldn’t believe what he just saw.

“Was that really Sarah?” he thought. He went straight to his room, trying to avoid his mom’s questions about the date.

He stormed and laid flat on the bed, looking up at the ceiling.

“She hasn’t changed a bit.” He thought of how stunning she looked earlier. A spark of hatred triggered Dan’s anger; he couldn’t stop himself from thinking about what happened in high school. She did worse things than what others did to him. He wanted a normal high school life.

Middle school went well for him, as did the excitement to get into the high school world, to get taller, to make new friends, and also to meet and like girls. Sarah sucked the excitement out with one glance.

She never looked at anyone twice, and if she did, it would be to belittle the person. She was the queen in high school, and he was the bull that was also a trash dump.

His first day in school would have turned out differently if Sarah was not the first person he met. Other than school, he had always seen her pass by his house, so he thought it was nice to see a familiar face.

He walked up to Sarah, who was busy with some other girls talking and laughing.

When Sarah turned, he couldn’t help but grin in admiration at meeting a beautiful angelic girl like her. He looked at the other girls and read from their mood that he wasn’t welcome, but he ignored all the signals and spoke first.

“Good morning, please, where is the principal’s office?” He asked Sarah, the first person he saw when he went through the school gate. She was taller than him and had a nice body, which she showed off by wearing a skimpy uniform that showed a little bit of her thighs and her chest. She also had a boy kneeling before her.

When he saw the boy’s wounded face and dirty clothes, he took a hint immediately. He took a few steps back and tripped on a rock. He fell to the floor.

He tried to get up, but stopped when he noticed Sarah walking towards him and she kept staring. When he saw this, he wanted to run, but he was hurt and couldn’t get up quick.

Before, he could find a way to get up, she spat the chewing gum in her mouth on his face. The wet sticky gum landed on his hair.

She smirked, called the girls, and left.

That was when his high school life got ruined. Before he even got the chance to do anything about it. He was already given a nickname.

He snapped out of his thoughts when a knock banged on the door.

It was his mother demanding to get the full gist of what happened between him and Belinda.

Dan knew she must have already heard something from her friend Anna, Belinda’s mom. But, as always, she’s here to get him agree to go on another date.

He stood up, went close to the door, and said it as calmly as he could.

“Mom, please, I want some rest. Can we talk tomorrow?” He didn’t want to open the door because seeing his mom would get him into accepting another blind date. He tried to convince his mom to go back to her room, but she was persistent.

“I heard the date went well. I want to hear all about it tomorrow. Okay?” She pleaded. Celia wasn’t the type to take a no for an answer, but she knew she had already done enough, especially after he went through a lot of stress at work.

Dan always did as she wished without a second thought. It may seem like she was forcing him to go on dates, but she wants only happiness for him.

After what he went through growing up and the changes he had to adjust to. He needed to feel happiness and love from not only her but from another woman who would love and cherish him unconditionally.

For some reason, after hearing the feedback from Anna, she has a good feeling about the date. Relief sank in when she heard the date went well, and she felt her search for the perfect match for him had ended.

“Promise me, you won’t leave for work without telling me about the date, then I’ll go.” She assured.

“I will tell you all about it tomorrow,” Dan promised. His mom left. The promise means he has to leave as early as 4:00 a.m.

He didn’t want to talk about it, and he knew talking about it would mean going to work late, which he didn’t want. He has to sneak out, no matter what.

“It went well?” He thought.

“Why would Belinda tell such a lie?” All the girls that his mom has ever made him meet either cursed him or went home crying, but he ditched Belinda at the restaurant. She was lucky enough he didn’t make her cry then why lie.

“Oh! Either Belinda is crazy or just clueless.” The hints were obvious that he wasn’t interested. But then, she wasn’t like other girls he had met.

Most girls he has met have talked about everything about them, from nails to shopping to travels, and also tried to pretend they were perfect. Belinda was different, she wanted to know about him and also she didn’t talk about shopping rather she talked about her work. Dan’s mind was shifted from Sarah to Belinda.

He couldn’t help but wonder why Belinda was different, and everything she did during the date was not in any way similar to other girls. He was curious and replayed the dates over again in his head till he got to the Sarah part again, and he hissed.

“But Sarah dresses differently now. I thought she left the country or something.” He jumped up and got his phone to call his secretary.

“Hello, I need you to help me do a background check on someone.” He requested to have a check done on Sarah. This might just be the right time to get back at her for everything she has done to him.

He ended the call after giving his secretary instructions. Dan couldn’t describe how the day went, but it was indeed an interesting day.

He proceeded to change clothes, but his mind kept going off and on with thoughts of Sarah and the good old days.

“Sarah,” he smirked.
