Chapter 16

“You’re back.” Dan said while walking past Michael’s desk. He went into his office without saying another word. He had been partly worried, but also angry that he took him as only a boss and not a cousin.

Michael looked a bit pale, but since he was at work, he had to look alive. He stood up from his desk to follow Dan into his office. As he approached the door, he bumped into someone.

“I’m sorry,” he said faintly.

“It’s fine.” She replied. It was Sarah; she looked drained and tired, though it was morning and she had already gotten some work done. One of her morning mantras was never to get into Dan’s trouble, and the tired look was her trying to do her best.

It was uncomfortable being around Dan, but she kept her personal feelings aside to focus on work. She didn’t notice someone was going for the door as well which led to the collision
