Two more powerful waves slammed into them in quick succession, and Rome instinctively squeezed her eyes shut again. She felt Cayson step back slightly, bracing himself, while the force of the water shoved her forward, right into his body. The moment their bodies collided, his hands slid from her arms down to her waist, gripping her tightly to keep her from losing her balance.

She gasped, trembling. Her hands flew to his shoulders, holding on with a desperation she wasn’t ready to admit.

“See? It’s nice to be in the water!” Cayson shouted with enthusiasm, raising his voice to be heard over the crashing waves.
