Sofia was already seated when Alejandro arrived at the exact time the meeting was scheduled for. He approached the table with his usual quiet confidence matching his precise and purposeful movements.

“Ms. Winston,” he greeted, offering a hand.

Sofia rose slightly to meet him. “Mr. Hernandez.” She shook his hand in a firm, brief but professional manner.

Once seated, there was no wasted time. “I assume this meeting is to establish operational clarity,” he said.

“Exactly,” Sofia replied. “You’ll oversee the build. I’ll handle updates, coordination, and all board communication. They want clear lines and channels.” She rested her elbow lightly on the table, curling her fingers loosely around the base of her water glass as she continued. “Since we’re going to be working together, it makes sense to align expectations early.”

Alejandro sat opposite her, with precise but relaxed posture. “I agree. My only goal is efficiency. I’m not interested in unnecessary complications.”

Don Ricardo's study was quiet. He sat behind his desk, reading a few pages of typed reports when he heard the knock on his door. “Come in,” he said, without raising his head.Victor stepped inside, leaning slightly on his cane. “You asked for me Don.”Don Ricardo glanced at him and nodded toward the chair across the desk. “Sit.”Victor lowered himself into the chair, shifting a little to get comfortable. Don Ricardo set the papers down and folded his hands. “It’s been a while since we spoke properly,” Ricardo said. “How’s your leg?”Victor shrugged. “I'm getting by Don.”Ricardo gave a quiet hum. “Good. You’re still managing the operations right?”“Yes Don.Things are moving smoothly.”“And the unions?” Don Ricardo asked “Stable for now,” Victor replied. “Some of the guys tried asking for more hours, but we’ve got it handled.”Ricardo nodded slowly. “Alright. And nothing unexpected is going on? No side problems I should hear about?”Victor paused for a brief moment before responding.

The meeting wrapped up neatly. Richard Halberg had done most of the talking in a confident, smooth, and a manner that indicated that he was clearly used to steering the room. Alejandro had listened, nodded in all the right places, asked the right questions, and by the end of it, the message was clear. This wasn’t just a lunch, it was an opportunity for his company. As they walked out, Alejandro kept his expression unreadable, offering polite nods as they said their goodbyes. Once outside the building, Lorenzo was already waiting by the car, leaning against the passenger door.“Well?” Lorenzo asked as they entered the vehicle .Alejandro didn’t answer immediately. He took a moment, glancing out the window at the street. “They seem genuinely interested. It’s not just noise. They want in.”Lorenzo smirked. “And you sound like you’re not sure if that’s a good thing.”Alejandro gave a small shrug. “It’s what I planned for, hoped for. It's just... sooner than I expected.”“They’re impressed

The day of the luncheon has finally arrived. The museum's board members and donors were to meet to discuss the Community Arts and Heritage Complex project. The project had been delayed following some sort of unsettlement and disagreement between the board members on core details of the project. The private dining room at the Bellgrave Hotel was quiet and elegant. The only sounds heard were the soft clinking of forks and knives and the small talks amongst the members. The setting and arrangement of the dining table and chairs were beautifully organized, and the crisp white tablecloths were perfectly set. The room was filled with influential people, including city arts board members, major donors, and a few politicians.Sofia Winston sat halfway down the table, not at the head but precisely where she intended. She had done everything behind the scenes perfectly to ensure that today, she wouldn’t need to dominate; she would only need to guide. The conversation had moved from rising mater

Lorenzo met up with Alejandro after the event to give an urgent report that came up regarding their latest acquisition.Alejandro sat at the edge of his couch, with his elbows on his knees, while holding a half-finished drink in one hand. His tie was loosened but still on. The gala suit jacket lay discarded across the back of a chair. He hadn’t said a word since coming in.Lorenzo leaned against the kitchen counter, arms folded, watching him. “You’re quieter than usual.”Alejandro didn’t answer right away. He just swirled the liquid in his glass, then finally muttered, “She looked right through me tonight. Like I was someone she used to know.”Lorenzo raised a brow. “What the hell are you saying man? And don't you think you've had enough drink for one night?” Lorenzo cautioned further.Alejandro gave a slow nod. "Yeah, I know. It's just helping me keep my mind alert tonight."Lorenzo rolled his eyes. "Sure, whatever. Just try and cut it out. Show some pity on your liver. And what was

A black SUV parked a block away from the gala venue. Its windows were tinted just enough to keep the occupants unseen but not suspicious. Inside, two men sat watching the entrance of the building, their posture seemed casual, but they appeared to be men on a mission.“I thought you said he would show up with her,” muttered the younger one, tapping his fingers on the dash. “They haven’t so much as looked at each other since the event began.” He continued as he peeped into the gala room through his binoculars “Shut up and keep watching,” the older one snapped. Victor voice came through from the speakerphone resting between them. “The girl's presence is enough for now. Even if they didn't show up together or converse with each other, or even leave together, the fact that they are in the same space yet again, gives us something to work with. I need to know if there’s still something there. Keep observing.”From the line, Victor’s voice carried more than the weight of order, it carried re

The gala was now in full swing. The ballroom glowed with the golden light, from the chandeliers and it's fixtures. People moved about, sipping champagne and chatting over the soft hum of a piece being played on the violin. The energetic presentation from earlier had faded into something more calm. Waiters went in and out with trays of tiny appetizers, smiling politely as they moved between clusters of guests. From the outside, the Urban Renaissance Gala looked like a perfect success.Gabriella stood by one of the tall windows, her eyes drifting toward the courtyard beyond. She had just finished giving her speech and she felt like she needed to get out. It wasn’t that she didn’t appreciate events like this, she understood their value, this was her world after all, but her thoughts kept pulling her somewhere else. Or rather, to someone else.Alejandro stood near the bar, which had turned out to be his favourite spot for the night looking like he belonged on the cover of some high-end mag

Sofia moved through the room with a practiced grace. One that came from years of going through galas, fundraising, and board meetings. The man who had fetched her was Marcus, one of the newer board members. He kept going on and on about the museum’s latest exhibit, but she barely registered half of it. She offered polite smiles, exchanged nods, but her mind wasn’t on the donors she was heading toward. Her mind was stuck replaying the exchange she had just witnessed. Gabriella's composed exterior had barely hidden the flicker in her eyes as she glanced at Alejandro. Sofia held her glass a little tighter as she tried to steady her pace. She couldn’t say she knew Alejandro well, not even close. After he handed her his card at Gabriella's charity event and vanished before she could ask why, they had only spoken once, when she reached out to propose a potential partnership. He had been polite, but distant, almost detached, like he was trying to tolerate her. He said he’d think about it b

Sofia was still saying something when Gabriella glanced at the bar again. She hadn't meant to look again but she had already turned before she could catch herself this time, Alejandro turned around, and their eyes met for a brief moment. It was only a few seconds but it felt like an eternity. His expression didn't change, but something in his gaze made her feel stuck. There was no smile, no frown or nod of acknowledgement, just a plain old sense of recognition. They were some distance away from each other yet, his gaze seemed to make her freeze, as of the lively chatter all around the room had paused. Then, as if nothing had happened, he turned back to the person he was talking to. Gabriella let out a breath she didn't realize she was holding, causing the tightness in her chest to loosen a little. Besides her, Sofia caught the moment. She stopped mid sentence, raised an eyebrow and spoke. "I guess that's not just someone you barely know," she said casually, observing Gabriella as s
