Forty Two

"You're going to resign?" Desmond asked before smiling. He looked at Faith, hoping to see any sign of sarcasm in her expression but he found none. "Aren't you joking?" 

Faith shook her head. "No, sir. I can not joke about such a thing. I am serious, sir," Faith said. 

Her boss sighed. What was he going to do? Yes, he was mad at her for what she did. For what she heard her say, but he was not expecting what he had just heard. He had never expected a resignation. Well, he knew she was going to quit the job one day, but he did not expect it to be so soon. 

Why was she resigning, though? Was something wrong? Has she gotten herself a new job? He did not know the exact thing to choose as her reason for wanting to resign.
