CHAPTER 29: CAN I COME IN, KIM?

KIMBERLY:

It was almost dawn when I dozed off on a hospital chair. It wasn't easy sitting all night. My back practically hurt. But I didn't mind at all. This is my mother we're talking about here.

Luckily Damien sent his driver as he had promised and I was a bit relieved.

The doctor said my mother's surgery would take place later today. But I had to go and take a short rest, freshen up and have a change of clothing.

I couldn't do all that here in the hospital.

It was around 7:am when Damien's driver arrived. As soon as he pulled up at the entrance of the hospital, I rose from my chair and went to him.

“Hi, just give me a minute. I need to let my family know I'm leaving.”

“No problem, ma’am. Take your time.”

I went back to the ward and leaned down gently, pressing a soft kiss on my mother's forehead.

“You’ll be okay, Mum,” I whispered, brushing a few stray strands of hair from her face.

I turned to the nurse nearby and slipped some dollar notes into her

CHAPTER 73: I WANT TO CRIPPLE WALKER HOLDINGS KIMBERLY:Grandma Evelyn set down her glass of wine with a gentle but commanding clink. "Exactly. Barbra, I have warned you before. Leave company matters at the office. This is dinner, not a boardroom."Barbra looked like she wanted to protest but stopped herself. She stabbed at her potatoes instead.Silence fell over the table like a damp cloth.Roland cleared his throat, and turned to his mother. “Mom, let Kim handle it. She's capable.” Damien and I exchanged subtle glances. Why was Roland taking my side against her mother?Kelvin Carter shifted in his seat and gave Damien a look. "Your step mother only wants to contribute. She's never had to work all her life and I think she's starting to get bored"Damien sighed. "She can contribute. But barging in and demanding answers mid-dinner is not the way. If she wants to be part of something, she can submit her ideas through the right channels. We run a corporation, not a family hobby club."

CHAPTER 72: CONFLICT AT DINNER KIMBERLY:I noticed that Damien didn't look so happy when I went to his office after rounding off with my research for the day. “Hey baby, “ I said as I moved closer and gave him a kiss on his face. “You don't look happy. Are you alright?”He nodded. “I'm fine. Just have a lot on my mind.”“Don’t let anything bother you. You're working hard enough already. Let providence take care of the rest.”He pulled me closer and kissed my lips. “Thanks for your advice, Mom. Are you ready for us to leave now?”I nodded. “But why did you call me mom?”He shut down his laptop, gazed into my eyes and kissed me again. At this point, I was blushing. “Because you're taking the place of a mother in my life.”“Oh come on, quit teasing me.”“You were incredible today,” he whispered in between kisses, changing the subject.“You already told me that a thousand times.”He smirked. “And have I also told you that you're the most beautiful woman on earth?”I pulled away from him

  • TRADING MY EX FOR HIS STEP BROTHER    FIGHTING FOR THE WILL

CHAPTER 71: FIGHTING FOR THE WILL DAMIEN:I sat in my office after the presentation, and couldn't stop smiling. The early afternoon light spilled across the polished surface of my desk, but my thoughts weren't on admiring the beauty of the sun's radiation. They were still fixed on Kim. Her presentation earlier had been nothing short of brilliant. She had captivated the room with confidence, as she laid out every detail with precision. She had stunned the entire boardroom. Smart. Precise. Poised. She commanded the room like she was born to do it, breaking down the market analysis and feasibility of launching our new luxury fashion line with such clarity, even Roland's bitter glare had nothing on her confidence.I was even more impressed with how she handled Roland’s pathetic attempt at discrediting her efforts. She handled it with quiet grace. I hadn't said anything about her being my wife—it wasn't the time—but damn, I was proud of her.Kim had beauty, yes. That was evident to anyon

  • TRADING MY EX FOR HIS STEP BROTHER    KIM'S BRILLIANT PRESENTATION

CHAPTER 70: KIM'S BRILLIANT PRESENTATION KIMBERLY:I gave grandma Evelyn a hug and followed Damien out of her suite. “Do you really need that private kitchen?” he asked, holding my hand as we descended the stairs. “We have a private estate that we can move into at any moment.”I stopped to look at him. “I thought we'd discussed this. Grandma seems to want us around so much and I don't want to break her heart by leaving without her consent.”“Who said we're leaving without her consent? She can move in with us if she wants to.”I exhaled deeply. “Let's not argue about this. We have a board meeting and I have a presentation to make. I don't want to get distracted.”He smiled and nodded, pulling me along. “Okay, Mrs. Carter. Let's be on our way.”Damien was a fast driver but he never breaks traffic rules. I'm sure he must have sacked more than a thousand personal drivers before he decided to drive himself. It was rare to see a CEO driving himself in the streets of New York. The drive fr

CHAPTER 69: MARRIAGE IS BUILT IN SMALL THINGS KIMBERLY:I was speechless hearing Damien describe such a beautiful wedding scene. I was wet down there and thought we could make love for the first time today but it seems my husband doesn't consider getting a marriage licence authentic enough. He wanted a big wedding. I didn't argue with him. It wasn't such a bad idea, after all. I mean what woman wouldn't want to wear a wedding gown?I gave him a peck on his cheek and curled up next to him. But Damien didn't let me sleep right away. He turned me around so I could face him. Then he suckled on my nipples, rubbed my wet clit with his fingers until I climaxed. He then kissed me and fell asleep beside me. I slept off pretty quickly too, both of us wrapped in each other's arms. His alarm device rang at 6:am, jolting us both awake. It was time to prepare for work. It took less than an hour for us to wash up and get dressed.Damien and I were about to head down the stairs when my phone buzzed

CHAPTER 68: LET'S GO SHOWER TOGETHER KIMBERLY:Damien took my hand as we headed to our chambers upstairs. Everyone seemed to be in their rooms. Not even grandma Evelyn who loved to watch late hour news was in the living room.As we stepped into our sitting room, Damien set the takeout bag on the desk and began unpacking it while I slipped off my heels, letting them fall to the side of the entryway.“You okay?” he asked, glancing over his shoulder as he removed the foil from the truffle pasta.“Yeah,” I said with a soft smile. “Just tired. But good tired.”He walked over and brushed a strand of hair from my face. “Then let’s make tonight a little easier.”He took my hand and led me to our bedroom. He helped me undress and took off his own clothes. I stared at him, wondering what he was doing. He didn't say a word. Just smirked. “Let's go wash up.”“Together?” I could feel my cheeks turning a darker shade of red.His smirk deepened. “Of course. We're married. That's what married peopl
