LOGINCHAPTER 6
DAMIAN’S POVThe second they are out of the room I look directly at the Spiritfang and it’s at time like this that I hate that he his blind I hate that he can’t see how upset I am.I hadn’t noticed it at first when she came in I was just awed at how she looked, and how hair looked beautiful firey and untamed. She looks like Alaric’s Luna my uncle’s wife and aunt. I didn’t know much of them both but all the pictures of the past alpha and their Luna was hunged up at the hallway to the alpha chambers. The last Alpha Alaric my uncle he married a really beautiful woman—she wasn’t just beautiful she was kind and lovely Mima always praised her at every chance she got.So I know by that resemblance alone, the Spiritfang wasn’t mistaken.I had questions and I was ready to raise them but my father saw the look on my face.We wil have this discussion after the feast,” Eldric said.I didn’t want to wait that long the longer that girl stayed the morCHAPTER 23 RAVEN’S POV I was exhausted from running, but I didn’t want to stop. I could feel Orion’s eyes on me waiting so he could ask me what was wrong. Rowan’s words from earlier on kept echoing in my ears. There was a possibility I could heal Nan. I had always been able to heal quickly from wounds. I never really thought about it much, but Nan found it strange at first. At some point she just started overlooking it. I was thankful that Damien hadn’t overhead Rowan and my conversation. I could not have him knowing that I could do something that wasn’t common. Another reason why I needed to speak to Orion. So I forced my legs to a halt. Breathing heavily, he was beside me the moment I stopped. “I said you could run when you got better, not right now,” Orion said. “I actually want to talk to you about that, come with me,” I told him while indicating to Mira that I was ready to leave
CHAPTER 22 DAMIEN’S POV I had the intention of training throughout the day—not because of the assessment but because I was confused and upset. Raven said someone summoned her last night, and I was summoned as well. The only time two people are summoned together is when the Moon is trying to join two people together, or when someone is practicing black magic. The Moon brought mates together or those that were destined to be nebular allies. Raven and I can’t be either. I can’t be her mate because we are cousins, and Raven and I can’t be nebular allies. We had no friendship of any form towards each other. So I was sure someone was practicing black magic. But who could it be, and why bring both of us down to the kitchen. I needed to handle this on my own. Notifying the Council of Elders would not be right. They already saw me as not fit enough to rule. I got into the training grounds and I saw Rowan and Raven talking. Rowan and
CHAPTER 21 RAVEN’S POV I couldn’t sleep. Mira had left hours ago after trying to convince me that the fight wouldn’t be a big deal. It been hours since she left, and I still couldn’t sleep. I found myself wandering out of my room to the kitchen, and I was upset because I didn’t want to go there, but there was something pulling me toward the kitchen. Like a something was calling, and I didn’t have a say—I had to answer. On getting to the kitchen, I saw Damien sitting atop the kitchen counter. How dare he? He hadn’t seen me yet, so I turned, ready to tiptoe back to my room. “Come here Raven,” his voice carried effortlessly through the room. “And why would I do that?” I shot back. “Didn’t you come here knowing I was in here?” “How bold of you to imagine I would want to talk to you after what happened today.” “I already told you, Raven I am not giving the t
CHAPTER 20DAMIEN’S POVRowan was in my room later that night, I was thankful for it. We hadn’t had a chance to talk since everything happened. The silence between us wasn’t awkward—it was heavy, thick with what neither of us had the courage to say aloud. I was grateful he came, even if we were both pretending this wasn’t the beginning of a much larger storm.“You okay?” He asked. “I wanted to talk to you yesterday, but I didn’t find you anywhere. Then I heard the howling. Was that you?”“I am okay, and yes, it was me.”He didn’t believe me. I didn’t expect him to.“Want to talk about it ? The list, I mean?” He asked.“It’s just a list. it doesn’t mean anything.”“You know it means something.”“It doesn’t, I demanded a trial by combat,” I told him.His breath faltered. Not loud—but enough.“You what? Damien, Raven doesn’t know how to fight—not yet you are going to kill her.”“Wasn’t that the plan? That I demand the throne back in a
CHAPTER 19RAVEN’S POVI hadn’t seen Damien at all that morning. Last night I couldn’t believe I finally spoke to him about the dreams. I was sure that if I ever needed to talk to someone about them, it would be Orion—not Damien.I didn’t only tell him about the nightmares—I shared something that Nan and I kept to ourselves with him and that meant something at least to me.A knock startled me out of my thought.“Come in,” I informed the person behind the door.“How are you?” It was Orion.“I hardly see you these days. Was your role alone to bring me here?” I asked him.“No,” he said, stepping further into the room. “I’ve been preparing the training grounds for you and trying to find out why you haven’t emerged yet — but it seems I’ll be busier.”“Busier?” I echoed, confused.“I have the Enforcer assessment coming up.”“Your name was on the list?”“Yes. And a couple of others including—Damien and Rowan” he answered clearly delighte
CHAPTER 18DAMIEN’S POVWhen I entered my father’s study, he didn’t even look at me. He just closed the leather binder in his hand with a soft click that sounded louder than thunder. He looked deep in my eyes, and I felt the hair on my skin rose, he slid a folded note across the desk, and I realized it was the Enforcer list. Why was I being called into his study for this? “Read it to me,” my father said. “Read every single name on that list.”Rowan made the list his name was at the top so, why? But I still read it, because in that moment I still feared Eldric. I still cowered around him like I did when I was a child.“Rowan Grimvale, Kael Morn, Andor Vesk, Taren Wolfson, Lysander Cobb, Rothen Vale, Orion Stormwolf, Myria Throneclaw, Sienna Rath and—-“I froze. My name was there on that list. How was this possible?“Go on,” my father’s voice boomed. “Go on, read it.”“Damien Grimvale.” My voice didn’t shake. I wouldn’t give him t
