Skylar thought things couldn't get any harder than they were, but the aftermath of the fiasco with Alex's dad proved her wrong.

At least, before, she'd been able to genuinely enjoy Alex's company, but now, whenever they were together all she could feel was the guilt of knowing that she'd wrecked Alex's relationship with his father knowing very well she didn't feel the same for him as he felt for her.

At least not yet.

A week and a half later, Alex had still not spoken to his dad despite Skylar's numerous subtle indications that he should, and her guilt only grew further. Maybe if he finally made up with his dad, then she could stop feeling so guilty and be able to focus on the things that mattered to be able to fall in love with him quicker.

Sighing, she pushed her disconcerted thoughts aside and focused on her computer screen. She was still reviewing details when an email popped up.
