Luca was sure someone was inside his head, viciously slamming a hammer against his cranium. That was the only explanation he could give to why he felt like his head was going to split into two. He groaned as he shifted, stiffening when he realized that where he lay didn't feel like a bed.

Had he forgotten to sleep in his bedroom again?

He pried his eyes open and nearly flinched when he found a woman he'd never seen before staring down at him with the tolerance that is usually given to five-year-olds.

“Finally, you're awake! I thought you'd passed into a coma or something.” She sighed, placing her hand over her chest dramatically. Or was it mockingly?

Who the hell was she and what was she doing in his house?

Confused and alarmed, he jolted into a sitting position without thinking and paid the price when a banging ache spiked through one side of his head. He groaned, still as he held his head in hope that the ache would subside.
