Luca's Pov

The boy on the stairs coughed, snapping me back to the present. He rubbed a hand across his eyes and sniffed. One of his eyelids dropped lazily and his glasses weren't rimmed red but an odd shade of pink.

“Did you draw that?” I asked, my voice coming out a little sharper than I intended and making him flinch.

He blinked up at me with one eye wide then slowly looked down at the drawing in his hand. He pointed at it and looked at me again.

“That, yes. Did you draw it?” I asked again, coming closer.

He pointed to himself and nodded. The kid was mute.
