Chapter 1: Rejection

🌹 ROSE POV 🌹

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Everyone is busy today. Decorating the hall where we will host the arrival of the Hades Clan.
I can't wait to see him. My father thinks I still don't know what's going on, but little did he know, I was prepared for everything that will transpire later.
I wore one of my favorite dress today, hoping that I would leave a good impression on him. My long dress, a beautiful blend of white and pink color, with intricate lace patterns complimented my slender body and sleeves very well, while the sleek silhouette added a touch of radiance to my appearance which I liked.
I know that my dress is simple today, but the reason why this is one of my favorite dresses is not because it's the most beautiful dress I have, but because this is one of the designs my mother made that I accidentally saw in her and father's room.
My mother was a talented designer, which is why I aspire to be one some day.
"Miss, you look so beautiful, I'm sure Mr. Hades will be captivated by your beauty," My attendant, Lisa, said with an admiring tone.
Me and Lisa could be considered best friends, my father placed her by my side to aid me in everything I did when I was ten. And ever since then, she accompanied me everywhere I went, be it to travel in another country to take vacations, or even when I go shopping outside.
Our age gap wasn't that far, just 2 years apart.
I think father did it because he saw that I rarely engage myself with my other cousins. I don't know why it's hard for me to talk to them, but I guess we just have different preferences and our interests don't really align.
“Are you crying?” I asked as I looked over my shoulder, seeing her with her head down, wiping her eyes.
“I just can't help it Miss, soon, you will no longer need me, and you will go live with Mr. Hades, and I will be all alone,” she continued to cry, and I can't help but smile at her.
“Don't worry, wherever I go, I will still bring you with me,” I said to her, and she stopped her action, then looked at me, her eyes still red with visible tears.
“Really?”
“I promise,” I said, and made a crossing sign in my heart.
“Thank you Miss!” She suddenly jumped at me and hugged me.
I patted her back, chuckling at her sweet actions, “It's okay, you can let go now, I still have to continue fixing myself,” I told her and she let go.
“Alright Miss, I'll go outside. I'll call you when everything is ready,” She said, and I smiled at her, nodding.
I resumed applying light makeup on my face, you might be wondering why I don't have a set of people doing my make up for me, well…the answer is simple, I'm a germaphobe, remember?
I waited for a while after I was done and sat patiently on my bed, admiring my work.
But after what seemed an hour, I got curious since Lisa still didn't knock on the door signalling me to go out.
I walked to the window and slightly spread the curtain and saw that there were already cars parked outside, so it only means that the Hades were already here. So why wasn't I still being summoned?
I closed the curtain back, walking to the door and as I was about to turn the knob over. I was taken aback when it was suddenly pushed open.
“MISS! YOU CAN'T GO OUT!” Lisa walked inside looking out of breath, beads of sweat running down the side of her face.
I get that our mansion was big, but for her to be this tired, wasn't it a little too over?
“Why?” I asked.
“Please Miss, just listen to me, you can't go there,”
I didn't really like her response and it just made me more curious why she didn't want me to go out.
“Move Lisa,” I slightly pushed her aside but she in return pushed me back, making me stagger backwards.
“What the hell Lisa! What's up with you?” I was really angry now, what was going on with her?
“Move!” I pushed her but she didn't budge so I didn't have any choice and used more force, accidentally pushing her to the floor.
“Lis—,” I was about to offer my hand to help her up, but stopped midway, cause if I help her she'll surely stop me again.
So instead of helping her, I walked outside in a hurry to the hall where everyone was already gathered.
“Miss! Stop…Miss…” Lisa repeatedly called behind me, but I didn't turn my head around and just continued walking.
After a few minutes, I could finally hear some voices. A smile slowly crept in my face, excited to see him again after such a long time.
“I WON'T MARRY HER! EVEN IF YOU TAKE EVERYTHING AWAY FROM ME I REFUSE TO BE WEDDED TO HER! I DON'T WANT HER!”
A dark and angry voice suddenly entered my line of hearing as I approached the slightly opened door.
My steps slowed, and an ominous feeling spread through my heart as it skipped a beat hearing that cold distant voice.
I didn't open the door. I peeked and saw that everyone was standing tensely, and as I travelled my eyes around, I saw him, standing there in all his glory, but…he didn't seem happy.
He still has the same dark blue hair that I like, and his eyes were still the same, however they didn't hold anymore the gentleness I once saw before, they were covered with hatred as he looked at everyone in the room angrily, his jaw clenched tightly as he stood at the centre, glaring at everyone.
“You don't have any choice, Arkin! Either you go with this or I will strip you of your title as my heir and kick you out of the family!” A handsome looking old man said, pointing at Arkin.
He had the same features as Arkin, only that he was like the older version of him.
“I already told you over and over again that I already have someone I like father, and she's much better than that spoiled girl you want me to marry, so I will never marry her, and even if I did like her, I know you know very well why I can't be with her, you of all people should know…” He said walking up to his father, his hands clenched into fists, it appears he wanted to say something but refrained himself, releasing a heavy breath as he closed his eyes to compose himself.
His father wanted to refute, opening and closing his mouth, but no words came out.
“This is stupid,” He said, walking away.
His heavy footsteps echoed throughout the hall as he left angrily, closing the door behind him harshly, creating a loud noise that resounded all throughout the place.
I crouched down feeling the most heart wrenching pain spreading through my heart.
Why? Why doesn't he want me? I was told I was perfect, I was told I was the most beautiful girl, I was intelligent and perfect in every way.
Why?
Tears streamed down my face and every dream I had of him vanished, along with all the hopes I have of the future with him.
“Miss…” I felt someone touch my back.
I looked up, and saw that it was Lisa, her eyes were despondent, and I could tell she was feeling sorry for me.
So this is the reason why she didn't want me to come here? She didn't want me to hear his hurtful words?
“Let's go back Miss,” She said with the softest voice she could muster.
I gathered all my remaining strength and stood up, I could hear voices inside, and saw my father conversing with Arkin's parents.
He seemed mad.
I can only shake my head at my disappointment. This was the first time someone ever rejected me, and the worst part is that I was rejected by the person I was waiting my whole life to see again.
I don't know how to handle it, it just hurts.
“Let's go Miss…” Lisa grabbed my wrist carefully, and I moved my gaze away from them.
I walked back to my room, feeling empty, and the feeling just got worse and worse as each second passed.
So this is what it feels to fail in love, huh?
It really hurts like hell…
