Chapter 4: The Play

I take it back, this guy is definitely not Arkin! He must be possessed, this is an evil spirit who took over his body and took away my Arkin!

“What the hell are you looking at?” He said coldly, not even meeting my eyes as he sat at his desk, looking over some papers.

“U-ummm, I'm here to apply as your maid,” I said with a charming voice, hoping that he would look at me, but all he did was let out a low hum of acknowledgement and didn't bat an eye at me.

I clenched my fist tightly, not happy with this treatment.

Ugh! I can't believe I came all the way here and brought myself all this trouble for this guy! He's totally not worth it!

“You're hired,”

“I know you would say that but I'm confident that I can help you…wait, what?” I leaned over abruptly to him, not believing what I just heard.

He looked up to me with a cold glint in his eyes, “I said, you're hired, are you deaf?” He said, and I immediately shook my head. I didn't even care that he just insulted me, I was just happy that he accepted my application.

YES! Everything is going according to plan!

“But I'm not hiring that other girl,” My mood turned a hundred eighty degrees when he said that.

“Come again,”

“I'm only hiring you, and you alone. I only need one servant,” My body trembled at what he said. Is this why he made Lisa wait outside and only interviewed me?

“Are you sure? Lisa can help you out with a lot of stuff, in fact she's more capable than me,” I said thoughtlessly.

“Is that so?”

“Yes,” I nodded my head vigorously.

“Then you're fired, I'll hire your friend instead,”

“What? No-no! You should hire both of us,” I suggested with a persuasive smile.

“And why so?”

“Because…”

“Just zip it. You won't be able to change my mind anyway, but don't worry, I'll assign your friend under someone else's care, and you'll still see each other often,” He said, turning his swivel chair around, then waved his hand around, “That's all, your room is next to mine on the east wing.” He said, shooing me away.

I had mixed feelings about his proposal, something about it wasn't right, but who am I to complain right?

I was about to head out when he suddenly muttered something, “By the way, your first task is to was all of my clothes, be sure to handle my clothes with care,” He said, not even bothering turning around.

I clenched my fist, slightly pissed at his demanding tone, but nevertheless, I complied with his request.

“I'll get onto it right away,” I said.

“And another thing,”

“Yes?”

“You have to address me as a young master from now on,” he said, and I felt my jaw drop to the ground. Who does this prick think he is ordering me around?!

I glared at his direction, and if looks could kill, he'd be five feet under already.

"Do you have a problem with me that you would like to share?" He suddenly said, taking me aback. How does he know? Can he read my mind?!

"I can see you through the reflection of the window," He said, turnung his chair around, and looking at me with a stoic look.

"N-no-no, I don't have any problem with your request...young master~" I gritted my teeth when I addressed him, and his eyes seemed to dim even more.

"You're not a very convincing liar," He said, his right lip curling up, as he looked ate with interest.

"You know, I do want you to know one thing about me since you will be working under me," He said, standing up. His face was showing a playful look, but those soulless eyes of his gave away his emotion. He was angry. And it made my palms sweat because I never knew he could be this scary when he's angry. It's like he's ready to cut me into pieces with how he was eyeing me.

I unconsciously stepped back, as he took a step forward towards me.

"A-and what is that, young master?" I asked, forcing a natural tone but all that came out was a stuttering mess.

I grunted when I felt my back hit the door, leaving me no place to retreat.

He finally stopped in front of me, a few inches away, and I could smell his manly cologne, and I felt dizzy with him this close to me.

"You seem like a good person," He said, raising his hand and caressed my cheeks with his fingers. He started gently, but all of a sudden, he pinched my chin harshly making me grunt in pain as he forcefully tilted my head up to look at his eyes that were boring into my soul.

"When I was a kid, I naively thought people who smiles at me are good people, but it turns out, it's all just a facade, a huge play that grown-ups like to do," He said, his face nearing me.

"I want you to know, that what I hate the most about this world are liars, so never ever lie to me, do you hear me?" He said, his jaw clenching.

I nod my head, feeling scared all over.

"Good," He said, smiling. "So I'm gonna ask you again, is there anything you want to say to me?" He asked, his mood changing rapidly again and was now speaking softly.

And I quickly though of an answer that won't make him pissed. Thankfully, I have my quick wits for that.

"I...May I know where you keep your dirty clothes, young master?" I asked.

He looked at me a few second longer before releasing me, and walked away, going back to his table.

"It's in the next door, connected to my room," he said with a nonchalant voice.

"I see, I should get going then young master," I said, and I felt like puking whenever I call him 'young master'. Tsk! But I have no choice.

"Wait!" I stopped.

"What's your name?" He asked.

I wracked my brain for a good name I can use and just figured to just use my second name.

"My name is Anna sir," I replied, and he nodded his head in acknowledgement.

"Anna, that's quite a lovely name," he said, tapping his fingers on the table, as if lost in a deep thought.

Did I honestly just got a compliment from this guy?

"You can go now," he said, and turned his chair around again, staring outside.

I breathed a sigh of relief. This jerk really is so full of himself.

But I can't help but wonder why at such a young age he already seems to have a similar character like my father, or you know, he's like an old person, not like those typical teenage guys I saw in the streets who are carefree.

Sigh...all I know is that I want to show him that I'm capable, and maybe at the end of this playful disguise I'm in, I'll throw at his face that he let go of such a treasure like me. Hmph! A lot of me are begging for my attention yet he thinks he's so all high and mighty.

Just wait and see Arkin, I'll get to your heart one-day.

I looked at him one last time before closing the door.

*THIRD PERSON POV*

Arkin looked leisurely at the scenery in front of him. He kept opening and closing his mouth, hise eyebrows shaped like a hawk, stretched together.

He then suddenly broke into a fit of laughter, standing up, clapping his hands. His glum look earlier faded away and was replaced with a pure look of interest.

"HAHA, Anna, what a lovely liar you are," He said, smirking as he looked at the door, remembering Rose's flustered face earlier.

"Out of all the things I hate in this world, I might've found my new favorite toy," he said, clicking his tongue, as he closed his eyes, and all he could see is Rose's face, or to be more precise, the face that he knew to well that was masked behind those layers of concealment.

"Since you want to play a little game baby, then I'll gladly play with you,"
